14 Level Up

["Hey kid, where are you going? I know you're very excited but I didn't expect you to react like this. Stop running around like a fool."]

While running away from the crowded place, Pierce couldn't hide his joy. He grinned from ear to ear. 'I am going to find a secure, secluded place.'

["Stupid, people won't see the screen. How many times should I remind you?"] The system was annoyed.

It added. ["Excuses. You must be afraid people that might see you wearing a foolish expression while looking at nothing. This one could already imagine your stupid expression. That is sure funny." ] The laughed without holding back.

'Blah blah blah. Enjoy your nonsense old man while I, I will enjoy this moment.'

Then there came a smooth, transition again. Talk about dual personality. The system was having some sort of that.

["Oh, about that girl, that old woman's granddaughter. I can understand why you found it hard taking your eyes off of her. She was comparable to a fairy. Given a few more years, she'll grow up into a splendid otherworldly beauty."]

["Hehe, you got my approval of her kid, for the one and only wife position. She is sure highly suitable for it."]

Pierce rolled his eyes. 'Can you stop twisting the truth gramps? I didn't stare ~'

He sighed after stopping in the middle of the sentence. 'Yes, I admit, she's mesmerizingly beautiful but I desperately want to do the level up now. And you're really no fun when your holding things up.'

'Moreover, that girl is very likely a minor. Are you encouraging me to go to jail? That's very rude of you old man. Are you perhaps a rotten system?'

["You little...! I will teach you a lesson! Hmp! You place the Luck Points yourself! This one is pissed."]

Pierce grinned. 'Fine then, if you keep sulking, I won't give you credits for this.'

["Ungrateful creature! Don't you dare forget, this wouldn't be possible without this one. Arrgh, this one sure is unlucky having a mediocre host like you!"]

'Say what you want as I only want to enjoy this moment.'

He stopped in a empty alley without any life found. Although the place emitted a bit of horror but he didn't had the time to care. He was at the peak of elation.

["Let this one put the Luck Points. Your trashy hands might slip."]

Pierce secretly chuckled. The system easily gave in as it was also excited for that level up. 'Fine by me, then make the level up fast.'

["Stop ordering around. You'll then see my greatness after this. You'll regret your words by then."]

'Alright! Stop barking. Now's the time to level up!'

Pierce was high spirited. He couldn't hide his joy and excitement. Obviously quite impatient in waiting for the advancement.

Seconds passed when the system said, ["It's already done. Check it yourself."]

'Stats.' Pierce quickly uttered in his mind.

Name: Pierce Mendez

Level: 1 (100 Luck Points to level up)

Strength: 3.09

Agility: 3.03

Intelligence: 3.03

Stamina: 2.9

Luck Points: 1.9

There, as he was staring at the window on the mid-air, another window popped up.

On that window, these words were written;

[Congratulations on Leveling up! New feature unlocked, Lottery.]

[A Lucky Lottery Ticket has been given. You can now go to the lottery and use this ticket to try out your luck.]

After reading that, Pierce then noticed that the word [LOTTERY] appeared on the Status window.

Back to its original role as a busybody, the system came meddling again. Though, still with a hint of sulking. ["Use the lottery ticket now. Go to the lottery and use it."]

'Of course! But first, how does this work? What could I possibly get from this Lucky Lottery Ticket?'

["You could get anything from that ticket depending on your luck. It could be a weapon, a skill, a technique, affinity, a job and others ranging from trash to divine grade. Anything is possible."]

The system added, ["Oh, just to let you know kid, this ticket is a once in a lifetime one. There won't be another one like this again."]

Hearing that, made Pierce hesitated a little. But he immediately shook his head, rejecting those negative thoughts. He firmly turned his hands into fists. His unlucky days were over. He believed, he could get something decent with the ticket.

'Please give me something useful, something decent...'

Pierce took a deep breath before pressing the word 'USE'.

A few seconds after that, there appeared another window on the air. The result was out.

[You got a job, {Superior Gardener}. Please click the job for the job description.]

"A job? Woah." His eyes glistened with a rare light of radiance. It was twinkling like stars while his mouth was left wide-open as if waiting for flies to swarm in.

Still in the peak of the moment, Pierce subconsciously covered his mouth with his hand but disbelief and happiness was still written on his face.

'Is this for real?'

'A job? Really? I got it?'

His heart was beating so loud and he could clearly hear it. It was also fast, as if he was racing with something while his spine shivered. Couldn't help feeling that way as everything felt so surreal.

Due to that, his expression was priceless at the moment.

He gulped. When he clicked on the window, his face was hinting that he was still unable to sync in everything.

{Superior Gardener} - A super skilled gardener who can grow any plants and yield crops of top quality. A faster growth rate and healthier plant condition despite any soil condition. The superior gardener's garden could also bring in refreshing feeling and calming effect to those who see it. Moreover, it could improve the health condition of those to who eats the yield.

The system sounded quite frustrated. ["I bet you got yourself in gardening before, that's why the probability of you getting it became huge. Of all the jobs you should try, why did you chose this? Ah, I am very disappointed."]

["Tsk, and to think you're very happy despite getting a mere superior job in a once in a lifetime precious lottery ticket. It's even no different from being a farmer."]

Pierce brushed off the system's words. He sincerely happy with it and said, 'I'm actually happy with what I've got.'

The system might be harsh on its words but he could sympathize to what he was feeling. The same went for a parent after hearing his son applying to be a gardener, the former would be greatly disappointed for sure.

However, in his case, Pierce was even grateful in acquiring this job.

'I like the job old man, it's what matters most. I am contented with this. I might be shallow for my standards but I knew what's useful for me.'

["Too shallow. Even the last host I had was very unhappy after getting a Master class Job. A rank higher than yours."]

He just let out a smile and chose not to argue with the system.

He liked the job. He really do. Never had a proper job before and after years of waiting and hoping finally having one, he felt really good. Honestly, even if it was any other job as long as it's a job would also be fine for Pierce.

Finally, he would have something he was good of as never had a thing to be proud of. Besides, he had quite an attachment to this very job.

'I, I, really got a job... To think that I got this. What a coincidence...' Pierce's eyes even have a hint of red.

Suddenly, tears started forming in his eyes. In contrast, the corners of his mouth turned up.

["Whatever kid. Such a crybaby. Crying this much for such a job. Even if it's of superior level, it's just being a gardener. It isn't up to par to this world's standards."]

Pierce forehead creased and he strongly shook his head. 'No, a gardener isn't a crappy job. You might be frustrated, however we can't do anything other than accept this. You might be disappointed but don't belittle such an honorable job.'

["Oh, my bad. I didn't mean to offend you kid."] As if the system finally realizing why his host was acting like that, it didn't said anything after that.

Pierce could understand. The system was quite prideful to begin with and it surely had high expectations on the lottery result. After getting something it was not satisfied of, it wasn't surprising for it rant due to bitterness.

Then, a tear drop dripped down Pierce's eyes. The system's words might be quite demeaning but he didn't mind it at all as a surge of memories occupied his mind. What made him burst into tears was something valuable. He remembered a very special memory from the past.

It was still fresh in his memory, that mellow and soothing voice which he put great dependence on for a quite sometime in his life.

"My boy, you have to put more passion and love on the plants. They can feel what you're feeling. If you're showing them how frustrated you are, they will feel sad too. As a result, they won't grow well."

The boy's lips pouted. "Grandma, I was smiling the whole time yet, look, the one I planted still wilted. It didn't even took it a day. I'm really not for this."

The old woman gently tapped his head and warmly smiled. "Patience my boy. Don't rush and let them feel your sincerity."

He shook his head. "Grandma, let me do other errands, except gardening or else I will just kill all of your beloved plants."

"Your negative thoughts bothers them. That's why they felt very uncomfortable and die. Refrain from that, my boy."

"Grandma, you know I am a hopeless case~~"

The old woman who was sitting on a small gardening chair put his point finger near her lips, letting out a 'ssshh' sound.

Seeing that, the boy could only sigh. Helpless, as the grandma really couldn't get what he was saying.

Even if the boy looked very frustrated, he still did his best on replanting the plant to other pots. However, for the plants he got ahold of, he never really hoped for them to live long as he seemed to have a cursed touch which always brought them to their death.

Though he couldn't say a no to that unbelievably kind old woman. The one whom offered him food and shelter. Aside from that, for once, he felt that he belonged to a family and someone cared for him.

"Wahhh, grandma, the mower broke again."

"Don't worry, it's still repairable. Set that aside for now."

Even if he caused her so many troubles, yet she didn't kick him out and instead she always maintained that positive aura and genuine smile that gives warmth and cleanse Pierce's guilty heart.

Although that moment of his life was short-lived as the grandma passed away due to illness but he would never forget her and her kindness.

This time, since he was given a chance, he would surely properly care for the plants like she always taught him to do.

["Ah, sorry for that... I mean about earlier kid. This one forgot that you actually long to be good at taking care of plants."]

["But for the meantime, we have a situation here. I think you should run now."]

'What do you mean?'

["No more questions. Just run straight and don't look back."]

But due to curiosity, Pierce, turned his head.

What he saw caused his eyes to be wide open.

["Can't you trust this one for once? Now they're too close to get away from."]
