All things are right in the world

*Siping sounds*

"Ahh~" A man sighed in contentment as he took a sip from his drink.

"This- is heaven." He sighed again, tasting his martini.

This man's name was Vitas and he could have been said to have hit the jackpot in life.

He lounged comfortably in the most magnificent manor in the multiverse. This was a house that he had obtained by risking everything he was. A manifestation of the homeward essence he drank from the bottles of the Essence Garden.

See, Vitas has always had an incredible 'karmic luck' ability since he was born. For a strange reason, he will absorb the luck from people around him causing himself to have moments of 'extreme luck' where the luck he stole was used up. Because of this, he ended up being abandoned by everyone he ever knew. They had mistaken him for being a child of misfortune because anyone who had contact with himself for too long would end up dying in an accident.

Even Vitas himself admitted that it was scary to be around him, and he didn't feel much emotion when they left him at the age of 16. Strangely, around this time his 'extreme luck' had gone and only misfortune seemed to plague all those involved with him. The company he worked for went under, and the neighbors next to him had heart attacks, if it could go wrong it did.

He now knew that it wasn't that the 'extreme luck' was gone, but that it was accumulating all this time. After more than a decade, at the time he turned 28 years old his instance of 'extreme luck' finally broke out, and spent all the luck he had absorbed from people of more than a decade. He was pulled into the Essence Garden, a shop that sold powerful bottled essences for 'unique' prices.

The stronger Essence you decide to take, the more of a price you will pay. Sometimes it's your freedom, remaining a slave to a higher being's whims to sustain their boredom. Sometimes it's your morals, changing as you now have access to abnormal heights of power. But for Vitas he merely followed his instinct by drinking one of the cheapest essences, causing him to only lose two-thirds of his memory as a price.

This was considered an extremely cheap and 'weak' power from among the essences to choose from in the Essence Garden shop. But at least he was free to do as he pleased. At least he still retained who he was and the power didn't warp him. He only forgot about two-thirds of his memories as a consequence. Well worth the price in his mind.

Homeward Essence manifests as a transmigrating house, which provides him with a variety of benefits, comforts, and halts his aging while he remains inside. His first decision after gaining this house was to transmigrate to a different world. Of course, he only did this out of interest, he didn't plan any grand goal. He figured he would go on a tour of the multiverse, maybe wave at a few main characters along the way, and perhaps collect light novels for himself to read while he remained inside his house.

With his limited remaining memories, he ordered the Homeward House to move to the world of Overlord so he could try out the game of Yddgrasil he had heard about from the light novel. It seemed like a perfect hobby to take up and so, the next moment, his house was in the decaying world of Suzuki Satoru. It integrated and disguised itself as an 'apartment', appearing as if it had always been there.

He arrived a few months after the game had already launched, but he didn't mind since he was only here out of interest anyway. In his remaining memories, he still remembered the content of the light novel so he knew that at the end of Yddgrasil, he would be transported into the body of his game character as long as he held a World Item. However... he didn't care about this anyway. He was only here out of interest, if he got a World Item, great, if not, that's okay too. He planned to just go with the flow.

He created his account, knowing he would most likely be unable to join any parties due to his misfortune effects, with a very boring and basic build. He decided to be a [Humanoid] because he wasn't interested in any monster effects or racial abilities. After all, he was quite comfortable as a human and he liked the comfort of eating.

After 3 months of him being in-game, his 'luck' had been accumulating as the players surrounding him suffered from accident after accident. Until nine months ago, it finally 'broke out' and a series of impossible circumstances happened in front of him allowing him access to a quest that gave him a new humanoid race called a [Primal Goliath], which he equipped right away. A [Primal Goliath] was an ancient human who had enhanced vitality, strength, dexterity, and other bodily traits needed to survive in ancient times. He was now much bigger than a normal human body, as his character stood at 3 meters tall with thick arms and shoulders.

His level was reset to level 1 due to his 'race change', but it didn't matter because he was playing for fun anyway. Overall, he enjoyed the game Yggdrasil. It was a roleplayer's paradise and he being a self-proclaimed 'retired' otaku, enjoyed the immersion the game offered.

"Let's log in for today," Vitas commented to nobody as he downed the rest of his Martini in a gulp.

He sat on a 'custom comfort improved VR Device seat' and started the link on his helmet to log in.

Welcome back, [Happy Fist].

}

A short welcome window appeared as he oriented himself with his in-game character.

'Oh, right I have to finish that quest,' he muttered to himself as he saw a 'collection quest' notification on his tabs, reminding him.

He also dealt with the flashing level-up notification, telling him to assign a level to his job classes, by pulling up his character window to assign the points.

His [Primal Goliath] race provided him with higher base stats than the standard human, giving him an additional 50 stats just for choosing to restart his race. It resulted in him that he could end up handling himself without a party to help him.

The [Monk] class easily acted as a weird hybrid of healing tank that could also do decent damage. Not to mention it was less reliant on weapon classes and bonuses. It was an early game class that fell off hard in later levels, however Vitas didn't care about that. He was just happy he could play the game solo, even if he couldn't do any raid bosses or dungeons alone yet.

His avatar took inspiration from Vikings and had a long thick brown braided beard on his chin. It was easily the most recognizable trait of his avatar. He didn't have very good gear considering that anything good was dropped as a 'rare item' from bosses that he couldn't do alone. His best piece of gear was his [Monk Robe] which was a High-Class Item, while the rest were Mid-Tier.

Good gear was hard to get, with the highest set of gear being Divine-Class and almost not achievable. Divine-class gear was so rare that only 1 out of 15 players who had reached level 100, managed to get themselves a single piece of gear for themselves. You could only obtain this gear through max-level crafting, purchasing 'mediocre' divine-class gear from the in-game shop when it was available, or getting absurdly lucky during a raid boss and having it drop a piece of gear. Sadly, Vitas was never able to fight a raid boss considering he was an abandoned loner of misfortune to others.

Vitas walked his avatar around the field he had logged out inside, looking for [Tracks] left by wolves for his quest. He was in a somewhat dangerous area with spots of poisonous miasma which made this hazardous terrain, so he was limited in his directional movement. He continued his quest with ease, collecting the remaining pelts by defeating the poisonous wolves, and began to head out of the hazardous terrain.

However, it would seem that fate had some different plans. Vitas felt the familiar 'tug' on his soul as his accumulated 'luck' was showing signs of a 'luck break'.

"Oh. It's been quite some time since this last broke out. I have great expectations." Vitas hummed and continued walking.

He had expectations as to what 9 months of 'luck' might get him.

...

In another area of the hazardous terrain near Vitas, it just so happens that there is an ambush taking place. Two powerful guilds fought each other with countless spells and attacks. These players could be seen as players who were near if not at, max level. They could be considered a top guild, considering a few of the players on each side had Divine-class gear, either bought from the in-game shop or crafted to fit their build.

Both sides were dwindling as the fight drew to a close. A thief lunged for an item that fell out of the inventory was killed and snatched it before he began to run wildly.

"HEY!" A powerful monk player with a bow staff shouted trying to stop him.

The monk player gave chase after the thief, chasing him down. Finally, after more than a minute of chasing and being a good distance away from the rest of the fight, the monk player cornered the thief.

"Don't come closer. Or I'll use it." The thief threatened while waving a claw-shaped item threateningly.

"You would use it just to spite us? Despicable." The monk spat.

Little did the monk know, the thief had been escaping in a specific direction through the hazardous terrain, stacking poison effects on both of them. Normally this wouldn't be worth noticing, but the thief had skills that could deal with and take advantage of poison. In particular, he had a skill that consumed stacks of position on a target, to do a burst of damage. This was exactly what he planned to use.

"Poison Implosion" The thief activated the skill as he lunged with his dagger, igniting all the poison stacks on the monk's remaining health.

However, he didn't expect the monk would activate a 'damage reflect' type skill at the moment of his death.

The same skill animation then played on the thief's character, a mirror of the 'Poison Implosion', causing the very same stacks of poison he also had to implode, killing himself as well. The result was a 'lucky' mutually assured destruction as both of the players saw their bodies dissolve into light.

Unfortunately for the monk player, his Divine-class monk robes dropped upon his death. The claw-like item along with a Legendary-Class belt dropped from the thief. The two players could only select the respawn option immediately and hope to rush to the area to recover their items. Sadly, a different player had just come across the pile of items they left behind.

...

"Oh, interesting. It happened so soon." Vitas hummed as he appreciated the dropped items in his inventory.

"Oh, this is rare, right?" Vitas said scratching his chin.

}

"And a divine class monk robe that's just my size. It seems I might as well use it now, right?" Vitas asked nobody.

*Flash*

A bright light came from the [Glutton Claw] as it consumed the Divine-Class [Monk Robe] and absorbed the stats into his avatar. The [Glutton Claw] then disintegrated, never to be useable again as its single-use was consumed.

"Oh, the gear was quite good. 40 raw stats and a skill from [Robe]" Vitas rubbed his avatar's beard.

"I think I could solo some bosses now. How perfect." He commented with a pleased tone.

'[Skill: Dimensional Step]'

Vitas activated the newly integrated skill from the Divine-Class item and shifted himself like how a 'Gate' would, directly to the destination for his quest. He turned in his quest and paused, feeling that his 'luck break' was still happening. He glanced at his in-game currency and saw that he only had 100$ stored. Still, it should be enough for a few Gacha now that his luck was currently 'breaking'.

He quickly spent all his money on the Gacha and was not disappointed.

"Oh wow. That's nice." Vitas commented.

He was particularly excited about the [Wish Upon a Star] ring and the [Lordly Ice Raven Robe] pieces. Even though the pieces of the robes could not be equipped individually until someone collected all the pieces, he was curious about its stats when all the pieces were put together.

[Congradulations, you managed to collect all the pieces of the [Lordly Ice Raven Robes]!]

A message appeared as he merged all the pieces before he looked at the item's stats.

Artifact-Class items are usually hard to quantify since they can contain as little data and bonuses as a Low-Class item or they could match a Divine-Class item in buffs. This one seemed to be just under the Divine-Class threshold, barely making it into the range of Legendary-Class items. However, this was considered a special item and it took up the 'costume' slot of the character, which didn't count against the maximum limit of items a player could equip.

This means he could wear this costume and gain the additional stats for basically free. Making it a well-worth Artifact-class item from the Gacha shop.

"As expected of the pay-to-win Gacha, you didn't let me down." Vitas commended the developer's greed in his heart.

He equipped the costume over his equipment and took a look at himself. The Lordly Iceraven robes were a costume for a reason, they looked elegant like a noble class person might wear, and yet they retained a form of the underlying equipment he had on. Meaning it looked like his monk robes and equipment underneath had been seamlessly integrated into the costume. He had to admit that it looked pretty cool.

"I suppose I should try and run a dungeon while my luck is still breaking. It's been 9 months after all."
