1 The Prelude

There isn't a comfortable breeze, provided by an atmosphere, in space. There is only the cold and dark vacuum.

And in this vacuum, hundreds of millions of kilometers from a gargantuan ball of flaming gas and its respective solid, gassy satellites sat an enormous ball of light.

"Man... hmmm..."

"I guess I was wrong"

A smooth but artificial sounding voice boomed from within the blindingly bright sphere.

"Hn?" Another voice expressed itself, this one at a noticeably higher pitch than the other. "Don't tell me you actually had your hopes up about such creatures as these?"

"... Is it so wrong to have hoped and had faith in such a promising species? We both kno-"

"Stop there! I will not be drawn into your theoretical lower-life form, faith and belief philoso-all of that lecture nonsense again, Thetus!"

Seconds later, the first voice, Thetus, expressed its wariness in a sigh before saying:

"I am just saddened is all..."

"What?...Well...I guess witnessing powerless sentient beings being torn apart in a collapsing universe could stir some primitive emotion in a higher being..."

"Very descriptive, aren't you?" Thetus scoffed.

"What?"

"Nothing, nothing at all"

"Yes, and that's exactly what this universe will be returned to: nothing. So, you best let that feeling saturate deep inside you, because that feeling is all anything will have in memory of these creatures soon".

"I do hope you're not a sadist, Sirus"

Sirus, stirred, quickly barking back.

"Quit saying nonsensical things"

Silence ensued for a few long seconds.

"Oh well...*siiiigh*...hmnmmm ...ooohhhh! But if I offered 'that' to them..."

"Offered what? ...Wait!? You couldn't mean 'that' could you?...offering them "that" solution?!!!"

"Well of course I do"

!?

"What? Doing this will at least quell that feeling somewhat... and we have nothing better to do until the allotted time"

"Don't drag me into this..."

"Relax Sirus, I won't be expending any more energy than necessary that would be required for the transfer. I'm not stupid."

"Do what you will then, but I do worry that in your lack of restraint, you will attempt this for every sentient species we meet."

"That seems an interesting proposition."

"You can't be serious!"

"I'm not. XD"

...

...

"Whatever then"

"You should join me"

"I'll not be drawn into your schemes"

"You will feel better afterward"

"?"

"Its something in seeing how, like our ancestors, lesser beings strive towards greater heights, that gives you a sense of pride in knowing you allowed them to reach that point by expending your own energy"

"Makes sense... surprisingly. You seem awfully more into raising civilizations of sentient species than your own offspring."

Thetus, ignoring the blatant insult as if it was nonexistent, continued:

"So you will help?"

"I will 'observe' "

Thetus' tone rose joyously in response.

"Alrighty then! We'd best get going, no cycles to waste!"

"Perhaps you mistook my meani-"

" 'Course I didn't" Thetus interrupted.

And before any other argument could arise, the sphere of light rocketed towards a certain blue and green planet at indescribable speeds.
