16 Chapter 16 - Got tables turned but Payaya strikes back

Then I looked across the room to confirm THAT PERSON is with us today. YEP. My assumption was right. Now I just need to let the court know the truth.

With an evil grin I turned to the judge and said

"Your Honor the Defense has no further questions for the witness."

"All right. Then it is time for me to make a verdict."

"Please hold it Your Honor, it's not time for you to go home yet."

"It-it's not?"

"I’m afraid it's not Your Honor. The Defense still has to present some IMPORTANT facts."

"What are you scheming Mr.Morals?"

Asked Mr.Payaya insecurely.

"Oh....I'm not scheming Mr.Payaya. In fact I agree with you. You are ABSOLUTELY right."

I emphasized on ABSOLUTELY.

"I am?"

"YES......you are.The witness here has NOTHING to do with the case. Because HE WAS NEVER AT THE CRIME SCENE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"WHAT!"

"................................................................."

The whole room started making noises.

"Order Order Order in the court"

Judge Colonel ordered as he pounded his gavel loudly.

"Mr.Morals what do you mean the witness was never at the crime scene? Explain it to the court."

"Gladly,Your Honor. I have had suspections on witness's testimony from the very start because if he had been at the crime scene, he inevitably had to see either defandant or Miss Blossom."

"Why? Mr.Morals. Why is that so certain?"

"Allow me to state my theory Your Honor. If we recall Miss Blossom's testimony from yesterday, she said that it was already 12:55 when they got home. And Miss Love had a chat with Mr.Anthony for about half-hour so that would make it 1:30 p.m Your Honor.

After that she stayed with victim for a while to cheer her up which could have lasted another 10 or 15 minutes. And the autopsy estimated the time of death around 2:30p.m.If what Mr.Palton said is true, that he didn't see any sign of defendant or Miss Blossom, then he definitely had to be there in that narrow gap of 45 minutes before victim died.Which means he WOULD HAVE SEEN SOMEONE COMMITTING THE CRIME!!!!"

"....................................."

"Hmmmm...............That makes a lot of sense Mr.Morals. And he claimed that he didn't see anyone else other than victim so does this mean he is the.....killer?"

"No Your Honor. I thought of that too. The theory I just presented is just my baseless assumptions.Even if it is true, I don't have anything solid to prove that.So I kept quiet. But what I found out later that point was not anymore an assumption.Did you notice that witness expressions changed when I ask him about his shoeprints on the floor?"

"Yes I did."

"That's because those prints were not from him.And he had no idea about them either Your Honor"

"Wh-What do you mean?"

This time it was Mr.Payaya who asked the question.

"If we recall Miss Blossom's testimony one more time, she said that Mr.Palton injured his right ankle pretty badly on the set, remember?"

"Yeah.So?"

"And that's true.We can see right now that Mr.Palton is having trouble standing up."

I said that as I gestured at him.

"So, tell me Mr.Payaya how can a man with sore ankle wear shoes and leave prints?"

"......Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.........."

He seemed to understand what I meant by that right away.

"He can't.He can't wear shoes even now."

Mr.Palton is fidgeting and sweating right now.

"So-someone could have helped him wear the shoes Mr.Morals."

"No.That would be absurd and uncomfortable for him to move around. He was wearing FLIP FLOP that day as he is right now."

"P-P-Prove.You said that this is not just an assumption. So do you have any proof that shows Mr.Palton was wearing fliop flop and not shoes on the day of murder or you fail Mr.Morals."

"As a matter of fact Mr.Payaya I do.I do have just the PROOF."

I can see myself smirking now.

"Well where is it Mr.Morals? The court is waiting."

"Your Honor.....can I have a bailiff to fetch today newspaper from lobby?"

"Bailiff!!!"

Five minutes later, bailiff returned with a newspaper in his hands.

I presented it to the judge and said

"As you can see on the front page Your Honor, our victim was standing with her producer Mr.Hugh Palton who undoubtedly was wearing a pair of FLIP FLOP and that photo was taken on the night of concert aka the night of murder."

Mr.Payaya took the newspaper from the judge to study it with his trembling hands for a minute and then his expression changed.

He smiled.

"You are right Mr.Morals.I can see that Mr.Palton here is falsely testitying now.He was wearing a flip-flop not boots and therefore he couldn't possibly be at the crime scene."

"Exactly."

"So....what is your point?"

"What did you mean what is my point?"

"I mean now that you have successfully established the point that the witness Mr.Hugh Palton here wasn't at the crime scene. We only summoned him here because you insisted in the last trial that he was at the crime scene. Now you are the one who disproved your own former theory.I must say I'm impressed Mr.Morals.Your second theory actually made quite a lot of sense. There is no way those prints could be from Mr.Palton."

"What are you trying to say Mr.Payaya?" The judge impatiently asked.

Mr.Payaya then gave the newspaper back to the judge and said

"I'm saying if those shoeprints are not from Mr.Palton then who did they belong to?”

I know where he is going with that.He wasn’t actually asking for suggestions.

“There is only one person that involved in this crime left and that person is none other than the defendant MR.JOSH ANTHONY!!!"

The whole room went into uproar again.

"There is no logical explanation to it but this Your Honor.Think about it, there are only two men involved in this case.If Mr.Palton didn't leave prints then there is only our defendant left to accuse. He coould have easily staged the scene to make it look like someone else did it."

He said it with a very annoyingly confident smile. I didn't think he could be smart enough to use this window and pin it all back to Josh.
