11 Chapter 11 - What she has to say about the fight
Daisy seemed pale from all the crying yesterday.Her eyes are puffy and to make it obvious, she wore a one-pieced, beige-colored, floral dress. She wasn't wearing any make-up. Her eyes were swollen and her lips were dry. Suddenly an image of Devvy throwing up on the couch appear on my mind.
Judge Colonel called back my attentions with his gavel.
"BANG BANG BANG"
"Witness.Will you state your name and profession please?"
"My name is Daisy Blossom.I was the manager of the victim. She was like a little sister to me.And now....now....she is gone....(sob)...(sob)"
"Miss, we understand if you are still emotionally-shaken and unstable to testify, you can just..."
"NO." Her voice hardened.
"No.Your Honor. I'm fine. I will testify. We need to bring that ungrateful bastard down."
Wiping off her tears with her hand, she said.
"I am ready now."
She looked calm, determined and somehow concerned.

WITNESS'S TESTIMONY 3 - DAISY BLOSSOM (HE ASSAULTED MY DEVVY!)
"Last night, after the show wrapped up, we went to the after-party to celebrate Devvy's sixth anniversary. She wasn't drinking because she had a photoshoot tomorrow morning. Me neither. But I took a glass of beer to cheer and that's all. I only had one drink.The party lasted like 2 hours and we went back to Devvy's apartment.
It was 12:55 when we got there. I knew that because I looked up the clock on the wall as soon as the door opened. Josh was already home.He reeked of alcohol.Before we could even sit , he told Devvy that he wanted to talk. She told me to wait in the living room and they went into her room. I waited there, on the couch.
They were in there for like half-hour. At first I couldn't hear what they were saying, but their conversation got heated and they became more like yelling at each other rather than talking.They said horrible stuff to each other. From what I heard, I made out that Josh was asking her for money, as usual, but this time she refused to give it to him. That's when he assaulted my Devvy."
She finished talking.
Unable to control his curiosity, Mr.Payaya blurted out.
"Wait a minute. You actually saw defendant commiting the crime? Like hitting her? And why didn't you mention that to me?"
"Well...yeah...kind...of. I meant he assaulted Devvy....verabally."
All of a sudden, the judge, Mr.Payaya and audience went into "Ahhhh........" and "huhhhhhh...."
"Witness, please refrain from using misleading words and give accurate statements. For a second, I thought this trial was gonna end and I would make it to the dance.You had me hung up there, witness. Please don't do that again."
WOW...he must have been really looking forward to that competition.
"Aheemmm....you were saying?"
I restored the atmosphere.
"Oh...yes. He assaulted her verbally. By that I mean he said really awful things to her. They were really harsh. I could hear those words echoing in my ears right this second.He said "GODDDD.....I HATE YOU.I SHOULD HAVE NEVER COME TO YOU IN THE FIRST PLACE. I HOPE YOU DIE ALONE AND ROT IN HELL!!!!". Then he stormed off into his bedroom."
"Wow...what hurtful words to say that to a cute girl".
Judge Colonel commented.
This is bad. This is really bad. But what she just said contradicts Josh's words. May be she is lying? But that does sound like Josh. We all know that he'd been seeing a therapist for his anger issues.So it is possible that he said those words, felt guilty to tell me and then lied.
"As I said in my opening statement Your Honor.This trial doesn't need to go on.The verdict shall be made now..."
"Omm......." Oh no. The judge is touching his beard.I need to do something quick.
"But what about my cross-examinaion. You can't just forget it.Remember, rules and regulations."
"He is right. Mr.Morals, proceed."
"Mr.Morals, it's apparent that you are sinking. You have no eye-witnesses, no evidences to back up your claims, no grounds to make arguments, no idea how to choose your ties and no sense in fashion."
He was talking about my clothes. I am wearing red and green stripe tie with a blue suit.It was last minute, people. I put on what I first saw.
"Grrrr..." I just groaned.

CROSS EXAMINATION 3
"So you were with the victim the whole night until the murder, Miss Blossom?"
"Yes.Endy. No need to get formal.You can just call me Daisy."
"I am a lawyer and we are in a courtroom. So I need to treat you llike a witness, Miss Blossom."
"If you say so."
"Miss Blossom you said that you and the victim went back to her apartment, correct?"
"Yes."
"Why did you go with her? You said that she wasn't drinking so she could have driven herself."
"Come on Endy. I already told you yesterday."
"I know but I want you to let the court know about it too."
"Okay...Devvy wasn't drunk last night but she was pretty upset with Edward."
"Who is Edward?" asked the judge.
"Ahh...victim's boyfriend, your Honor." Mr.Payaya answered.
"Oh..I see.Continue."
"They were fighting at the party. Devvy got angry and there was no way I was gonna let her drive. So I took her home."
"You mentioned that you waited for her in the living room on the couch, did you perhaps see vomit?"
I detected a weird reaction on her face. Maybe she was embarrassed? To my surprise, she said
"Ohh...yeah....that vomit..I saw it. Goshhhh that was really disgusting. I bet that was him. He must have vomitted since he was drunk that night."
She said pointing at Josh.
"Wait.What? That wasn't me.It's true that I was drunk but I swear I didn't vomit. What do you think I am? I am not a weakie like you. I've been drinking alochol since sixteen."
Okay buddy.That wasn't exactly helpful.
"Order order order" the judge pounded his gavel and said
"The defendant will stay silent unless asked to participate."
I didn't really care about that vomit. I just thought I'd ask but now I am curious. One of them is clearly lying. Perhaps it was Daisy.She is weak with alcochol. She must have puked but felt embarassed to confess and pin that on Josh.
"Way to go Mr.Morals. Bringing up absolutely ridiculous fact just to get your client confess his underage-drinking? Bravo."
Damn...that mean, sarcastic vulture. But he is right. I shouldn't have asked that stupid question.I should drop asking about the receipt too.
"Your testimony ended at their intimate conversation Miss Daisy. What happened after that? What did you do?"
"Me?" She looked like she wasn't expecting that.
"Oh...I stayed with Devvy for a while.Clearly she was upset. She just had two fights in a row.I comforted her then I went back home. I told her to sleep early as I would because we both need to get up early tomorrow."
"Thank you for telling us Miss Blossom.Your Honor if it wouldn't be too troublesome for Miss Blossom, the defense would like to hear more about victim's fight with his boyfriend"
"Objection!"
As I expected, Mr.Payaya raised his objection.
"What defense is requesting is totally unnecessary and irrelevant to the case Your Honor. Mr.Edward Acker is a public figure, letting his name dragged into this case may have undesirable impact on his reputation.Not to mention there is no connection between the crime and the party."
"It's not like I am requesting Mr.Acker himself to take the stand Mr.Payaya and you can't ignore the fact that victim and the said man had a fuse. That gives him a motive. If dragging his name into the case is objectionable then I guess we can hear less about him and more about the party from Miss Blossom.
I hope that's okay with you. Or is there something you don't want the court to know?"
That seemed to hit him hard.
"What!!!...NOOOOO."
"....hmmmmmmm…Objection denied."
"The defense did raise a valid point. The court will hear more about the party but less about Mr.Acker."
Then he looked at me and said.
"Now you are talking laws Mr.Morals. I thought you'd lost your claws and you'd go teach kindergartens after this trial."
".....Thanks???"
"Anyway could you comply with defense's request Miss Blossom?"
"Absolutely."
