74 Killing Two Birds with One Stone

"Hmm," Li Qin Yao nodded.

Zhang Jing's expression turned softer seeing that the girl in front of him did not hide away her connection with the well-known property group. After his assistant brought back the report on Li Qin Yao, Zhang Jing had already guessed that the girl did not want to be known as someone who was connected to the QL Property Group after the scandal from two years ago.

She was afraid that people would give her a look and accuse her of guilty for the accident.

Though Zhang Jing did not know what had happened back then, he knew that he should not judge someone as guilty without knowing the full story.

"But, QL Property Group focused on Capital City and a few cities around it. When did they take interest in another city's development as well?" Zhang Jing asked.

"My grandfather thought that since I have moved to B City, it would be better to find an opportunity for the company to grow in another city. But to tell you the truth, I think it was just my grandfather's way to bring me back to the company."

Zhang Jing let out a laugh. "What? You do not want to work with your grandfather? QL Property Group is one of the largest in the country. But hearing from what you said, you must have work with his company in the past."

A small smile formed on Li Qin Yao's lips. She hesitated a few seconds and said, "Well, something happened in the past, then I quit and move to B City to live with my mother."

Zhang Jing stared at the girl in front of him for a while before he nodded. "Since you're not going to say it, then I would not ask."

Li Qin Yao heaved a breath of relief. At this moment, she did not want to let Zhang Jing know about the accident. She liked Zhang Yu Han's grandfather, she would be sad if the elderly man started to distance himself from her because of that matter.

However, Li Qin Yao knew that there was no way for her to hid the matter forever. If their friendship continued, then, sooner or later, Zhang Jing will surely hear about it.

"I will tell you later when I'm ready to talk about it."

Zhang Jing let out a soft sigh. How can he not notice that the girl's mood was a bit off when she mentioned the past. He knew that whatever happened, Li Qin Yao was still affected by it. However, his heart was at ease when she had promised to speak about the matter later when she was ready for it.

"Judging from your conversation earlier, you were having problems with the project?" Zhang Jing knew that he should not touch the sensitive matter right now.

Li Qin Yao laughed. "Grandfather, you're a businessman too. What project did not run into problems now and then?" She then pushed a plate of their best-selling fruit tart. "Grandfather, taste this. This is our best selling dishes in the cafe. You try and tell me what you think."

How can Zhang Jing not know that the girl did not want to talk about her problem? However, he decided to pick up the fork and sampled the fruit tart. Surprisingly, the not so sweet cream and the berries on top tasted good after his meal. "It's good." He put down the fork after a while and looked at the girl. "Why don't you tell me a little bit about this project? As you said, I am a businessman. Who knows, I might be able to help."

Li Qin Yao hesitated as she alternated her gaze between the documents on her side and towards Zhang Jing.

"What? Do you think that I might steal some of your secrets?"

"It's not like that," Li Qin Yao heaved a sigh. She pursed her lips for a few seconds longer before she spoke again, "I know that as the Chairman of Zhang Group, you have a lot of resources. But I don't want this to change my relationship with you if I ask for your help. Though I don't know you for too long, I do feel comfortable around you. You are always nice to me. You are like a grandfather that I never have."

Zhang Jing laughed happily. "Then, you are like a granddaughter. I only have Yu Han and his sister as my grandchildren. They have to stay abroad with their parents for years. It was only a year ago that Yu Han decided to return and accompany me. Right. My granddaughter will return to in a few days. When the time comes, I will introduce you to my granddaughter. Anyway, since you think of me of your grandfather, come. Tell me what has been bothering you."

Li Qin Yao did not know whether she wanted to laugh or cry. She had thought that she had successfully turned to a new topic, but it seemed like Zhang Jing had good memories. No wonder he was still leading Zhang Group at his age.

In the end, Li Qin Yao decided to tell Zhang Jing a little bit about the development project. Anyway, they were still in the early stage where they were looking for investors and preparing a tender.

Moreover, she can treat this as if she was presenting her proposal to a potential investor.

Half an hour later, Zhang Jing was staring at the plan that Li Qin Yao had shown to him. There are a lot of historical sites and some old buildings with their beautiful architecture around B City. The government has already taken its initiative to recover and protect those sites. The site that QL Group was planning to purchase was not too far away from the site.

According to the plan, the QL Group was planning to build a large shopping complex, commercial area as well as residential areas. This time, QL Group was cooperating with another group to open up a large attraction park with both a water park and a dry park. Since there were no attraction parks as such around B City and the cities around it, it was expected that this park will attract a lot of consumers.

Zhang Jing was satisfied as he studied the plan. It doesn't look like there would be any legal problem regarding the land. Then, the problems that Li Qin Yao was having was surely a money problem.

However, what QL Property Group was planning was a big project. Although he had a say in his company, Zhang Jing would still need to consult the board if he wanted to invest in the project.

His eyes flashed as Zhang Jing recalled something.

A few months ago, he had agreed to let his grandson, Zhang Yu Han to start up another hotel. However, he heard that his grandson was still looking into a few sites across the country and had not found any suitable site yet. Then, perhaps, he should take this chance to set up the two together. In this way, Li Qin Yao's problem regarding the investor would be solved, and Zhang Yu Han would find a suitable site.

Isn't this is like killing two birds with one stone?

No. That is not right. He could kill multiple birds with this one stone!
