46 I Grew Taller

After pushing the question about Li Mu Chen's appearance in the back of her mind, Li Qin Yao joined her mother and friend for a sightseeing trip. The three ladies shopped around, ate good food, and visited some famous places that they have never been to before.

"Where are we going next?" Han Yue Xiu turned to look at her friend. Initially, she was a bit upset that she had decided to quit her job. But after walking around with Li Qin Yao and her mother, Han Yue Xiu's mood was better.

Li Qin Yao pulled out her phone to look at the list that Xiao Lian Yi had given her. "Well, according to this list, there is a milk tea shop that was quite popular around here."

"Let's go!" Han Yue Xiu said excitedly.

"You still wanted to go around to buy milk tea?" Xu Yilan watched the two girls with her eyes full. "I'm not going. My feet hurt from walking too much. You girls go ahead and buy them. I'll wait here."

"If Auntie Xu is not going, then we can come another time?" Han Yue Xiu said to Li Qin Yao.

"No. No. No," Xu Yilan rejected the idea immediately. "You girls should go. I'm a bit thirsty. I wanted to drink milk tea too. I'm just too tired to walk. So, you should go and buy me a cup."

Li Qin Yao exchanged a glance with her friend and let out a chuckle. "Okay, Ma. You stay here. I'll go with Yue Xiu."

Xu Yilan nodded before she sent the two girls away.

"Is this really alright?" Han Yue Xiu glanced back to where Li Qin Yao's mother stayed.

"My mom said it's alright. So, it's alright," Li Qin Yao said. As they walked towards the recommended milk tea shop, Li Qin Yao decided to ask her friend about her sudden decision to quit from her job.

Han Yue Xiu was quiet for a while. "Actually, I was surprised that I was courageous enough to quit."

"What happened?"

Han Yue Xiu then explained how she had work hard to complete her task. She stayed for overtime and managed to finish everything before the weekend. However, this morning, her boss called her and said that she had to redo her part. After she heard the reason why he rejected her report, Han Yue Xiu went mad.

"What did he said?"

"No particular reason. I just did not like it," Han Yue Xiu tried her best to imitate the annoying way her boss talked. "Don't you think he's unreasonable? This is not the first time something like this happened. I snapped. I told him I'm quitting immediately, and I didn't care about this month's salary. If he's not my boss, I would strangle him to death."

At the thought of her monthly salary, Han Yue Xiu's face turned pale. She realized that she had done everything in impulse, but did not regret her decision to quit.

Han Yue Xiu bit her lips as she thought over what she had said to her boss. "Actually, I may have said something to anger him. I was afraid that my boss was going to find me at my place. So I decided to come over here to calm down. Yao Yao, you wouldn't mind me staying with you and your mom for a few days, right?"

Li Qin Yao laughed and quickly agreed. "Now you know how to be afraid?"

"You don't understand," Han Yue Xiu heaved a long sigh. "My boss' expression when I threw him some insult before I leave was not that good. I'm afraid that if he found me at my apartment, he might kill me."

The two girls walked around the neighborhood and came across a basketball court. Han Yue Xiu stopped at her track and stood behind the fence to watch a group of men playing a three-on-three game.

"How long has it been since you stop playing basketball?" Li Qin Yao asked.

"I cannot remember," Han Yue Xiu answered with a sigh. "Probably around college?"

"It has been so many years, huh? When you were in high school, you were really good at basketball," a smile appeared on Li Qin Yao's lips as she recalled their younger self.

Years ago, she had come to watch her best friend's game and was amazed at how the players could shoot a three-pointer. So, when the others were on break, Li Qin Yao had snuck in to try shooting the ball. It was her first attempt, and she shot a three-pointer. It was a miracle that the ball went in the hoop.

However, that was the only time she had shot a ball and entered. Her countless attempts right after had failed, even under Han Yue Xiu's guidance. In the end, Li Qin Yao gave up trying and decided that she had no talent in that game.

One of the men on the basketball jumped with the ball in his hand and slam-dunked. Han Yue Xiu clapped her hands excitedly.

Li Qin Yao squinted her eyes as she found that the man was somewhat familiar. Before she could identify the man, Han Yue Xiu spoke and diverted her attention.

"Years ago, you were shorter," Han Yue Xiu pointed out.

"Shut up," Li Qin Yao evaded when Han Yue Xiu suddenly moved to touch her head. "I grew taller."

Han Yue Xiu laughed at Li Qin Yao's proud look. "Yeah, who would have thought that once you entered college, you would grow a few inches taller." She gave a teasing smile and said, "But I'm still taller than you."

Li Qin Yao rolled her eyes. She glanced at the court and saw that the game had ended, and the players started to scatter. "Come on. Let's go and buy some milk tea before my mom started to worry."

As the girls started to walk away, Li Qin Yao heard a familiar voice calling out her name. She turned around and was dumbstruck upon seeing Wei Jun Hao waving his hands at her. Behind him was Zhang Yu Han and a few others that she did not know.

Li Qin Yao felt the corner of her mouth started to twitch when she saw Zhang Yu Han. Recently, Li Qin Yao noticed that when she goes out, she would have this chance encounter with him.

"Isn't that the insurance salesman?" Han Yue Xiu whispered as she nudged Li Qin Yao on her waist.
