7 The Couple

"Hey, sweetheart. Did you have a nice nap? Do you want some water?" Luna asks her daughter with a gentle smile.

When she sees her daughter nodded her head, Luna screws open the water bottle and passes it to Lily. She watched as Lily drowsily drinking the water and yawned. She chuckled, amused by her daughter antics. 'Such a cute creation'.

When Lily passed back the bottle to her, she asked either she wants to continue her nap or not, which Lily shakes her head.

"Do you want anything else, baby?"

Lily ponders for a moment before shaking her head again.

"Mommy needs to make a stop at the mall to buy some groceries and ingredients for tomorrow order. Afterward, we'll go back home. Is it okay for you, sweetheart?" Luna asked.

Lily just smiled. Luna buckled her seat belt and shifted the gear before the car accelerates on the road. Twenty minutes later, they arrived at the mall and Luna entered the hypermarket section before choosing and picking everythings that she needed. She asks Lily if the girl wants anything to which she licks her lips a few times. Luna chuckled and push the trolley on which Lily was seated at the front, to the cool storages and picked up three buckets of different flavour of ice creams. She then proceeded to the cashier to make the payment.

"Thank you for your purchases, have a good day madam," the cashier bowed slightly.

"You're welcome. You too."

On her way towards the lift, she had the urge to looks around at the surrounding areas and she did. The next moment, she sees her husband on the escalator descending to the hypermarket floor with a petite woman by his side, hugging his left arm intimately. While her husband, Alex smiling indulgently towards the woman without realising his legal wife and daughter standing not too far from him. Luna watched the couple entering the hypermarket with pursed lips.

She then turns around as if she just saw something insignificant. In the car, she tries to brushed off the scene that happened moments ago and focusing on her driving. She parks her car on her house driveway and turned off the engine. She grips the steering wheel tightly and put her forehead in between her hands. She takes several deep breaths to calm herself down. She doesn't want to show any sad expression to her daughter, not to mention crying in front of her.

"Knock, knock, knock.."

The sound of her window being knocked startled Luna. She looks to the side and sees Lisa standing there with a deep frown on her face.

Luna takes a very deep breath before she opens her car door and smiling at Lisa.

"What happened? I thought you already home but I waited for almost half an hour. The moment you arrived, I excitedly wave at you but you just drive passed me and you took your time to alighted from the car," Lisa commented.

She narrowed her eyes and scrutinized Luna's expression keenly. She could sense her best friend's mood fluctuated. She grabs Luna's hand before she could close the car door.

"You know I'm always here for you, right? If there's anything that bothering your mind, do tell me. I may not be as rich as you, but if you need money, you can turn to me. Otherwise, I can lend you my ears and shoulders. I may not be a wise person to provide any advices, but I can sing well. Don't try to be strong all the time. You can cry if you feel like it. Nothing's wrong if you let go of your emotions sometimes," Lisa said earnestly.

Luna grips her hand tightly for a second and reply, "Thank you. I appreciate it. But I can manage. If I ever need it, I'll turn to you the moment I stumble. Thank you." Luna smiled and released her hand.

She opens the back door and unbuckled Lily from her seat. She walks to the front door before she key-in the password. She invited Lisa in and carried Lily through the door. She returns back to fetches her things and all her purchased items. Lisa helped her to close the door and carry some items and put them on the dining table. Silence ensued.

Luna trudge to dispensed some water from the kitchen and give a glass to Lisa. Lisa watched as her best friend dazedly sat on the dining chair without a word. She felt worried of Luna's condition.

"Earth calling, Luna."

She waves her hand in front of Luna's eyes which snaps her from her day dreaming state. Luna smiled apologetically.

"Wait for a moment, I'll fetch your cookies and cupcakes."

She quickly stood up and rushed to the kitchen cabinet to take out the cookies and cupcakes. She opens the faucet and splashes some cold water to clear her hazy mind.
