12 Chapter Twelve

Farida lay on a mat that was brought by Wahush, Aladeje ran a cloth over her broken skin, cleaning the wounds on her back. The two apprentice had been coming in the early hours of the day to check on her and clean her wounds for four days now and Uti during the night to bring her something to eat.

'How do you feel?' Kalaje asked when she entered the hut holding a bowl.

'Much better but I'm tired of lying face down for days now.' she said, as she tried to sit up with Aladeje helping her.

'Stop complaining and be happy that your wounds are healing up well and are not going to leave a single scar at the end of the day.' Kalaje said passing the bowl in her hand to the now sitting Farida.

'As if saying that will stop the pain.'

'Eat what she brought and please try to take a bath today,' Aladeja said wrinkling her nose in disgust.
