Chapter 6: Friendversary 1

The first thing on our agenda was to go to the movies so we got into Ann's limo and told the chauffeur to drive us to a theater we picked. Getting there, we bought our movie tickets, popcorns and drink.

Though today was supposed to be Ann and Maya's day, I couldn't resist the urge to bring Samantha along because I felt sorry for her. I'm not a greedy person to just want to have my bestie to myself because it has been I and Ann all the way, and maybe some blind dates boyfriend.

I understand how boring and depressing it can be to stay alone without having freedom to move in fear of been caught and sent to marry a mystery man.

Sammie was the one who picked the first movie and of course she picked a great one of which I'm not surprised of. When we got into the theater, I sat on the right, Ann in the middle and Samantha on the left.

Putting my head on Ann's shoulder, I enjoyed our one hour thirty minutes movie alongside my popcorn and cola. After the first movie, Ann decided to pick the next movie which happened to be a romance movie.

I wasn't surprised by that act of hers because she is a fan of romance. Picking the movie, she winked at me and I rolled my eyes.

We went into the theater again with our buckets of popcorn. The movie began and it got to a part where the male and female leads where kissing and smootching each other.

"Urgh, why pick romance Ann?, you know we're single as f*ck", i whispered, complaining. "Not my fault Maya, you asked for it", she said grinning and Sammie chuckled.

"You just wait till I find a man who's gonna make my heart stop a sec ladies. Imma rob it on your faces", I scoffed.

Few hours after the movie, it was my turn to pick one and I did. But not a romance movie, I can't stand the sucking and f*cking.

Picking a comedy movie, Ann and Sammie teased me of avoiding the obvious. "Please don't die an old maid", Ann teased again. Rolling my eyes we went into the theater for another one hour plus movie.

Laughing our hearts out, we got out and continued talking about the funny parts of the movie in the car. "Next stop, the park", I shouted.

"Woohhh... Yeah", Annie and Sammie screamed excitedly making me laugh. Getting to the park, we attracted a lot of attention due to the limo.

"Let's burn some calories before picnic girls", Ann said in a commanding tone making I and Sammie salute- "affirmative", we said running to the merry go round like little children.

After enjoying our time taking different rides, we all went to find a good spot for picnic. "The weather is nice", I complimented nature. "And refreshing too", Sammie backed.

We enjoyed our picnic and chatted for sometime. " I want to use this moment to say a big thank you to you Ann. Thank you very much for everything. I really appreciate your help all the way.

''Thanks for the credit card too or else I would have been tracked with mine". Sammie said emotionally, almost in tears.

"You're welcome baby, at least, I wasn't suspected or else it would have been a different thing. Like been married to Mr ghost", Ann said with a tease, hugging her".

"Best cousin in the world", Sammie said. "Best friend in the world", I also said giving Ann a wink. " C'mon guys....', Ann said, obviously blushing. "....you're gonna kill me with sugar", she continued making us laugh.

" It's almost 6pm guys, let's end the day at the karaoke bar", I said, looking at my watch. "Yeah, let's get going", said Sammie, packing the things we used for picnic.

We got up from the floor and went back into the limo full of life. "Take us to the karaoke bar", I told the chauffeur and he drove.

" We're here...", the chauffeur called. "To the bar ladies, let's move", Ann said and we went out of the car. Getting to the bar, we took our seats and started chit chatting over cans of beer.

This is the first time I'll be taking beer and all I can say is ' it tastes so great and refreshing'. Never knew it'll be this good. "Ahhhh....", I said, shaking my head.

"Tell me Ann, how did you and Maya meet?, I've been really curious and wanting to know about it", Sammie asked. Looking at Ann, I smiled. "Hmm... hmm...", Ann cleared her throat. "Well, since you asked, I'll say it; but its a very long story", Ann said.

"Cut it short somehow, we all have to leave here today, remember?". Sammie replied, pouting and I grinned. "Whatever...", Ann said, rolling her eyes. "Now shhhh....", she said again putting her right hand middle finger on her lips indicating silence.

"It all began in middle school....", Ann began, after gulping down her beer.

"Good morning class", the teacher greeted as she walked into the class. "Good morning Mrs Smith", we all stood up to greet our teacher. "How was your week?", "Fine Mrs Smith", we all answered.

"Good then; I'm glad to inform you all that today, we have a new pupil who just moved into town in our midst...", Mrs Smith said then looked at Maya intently.

"Maya...", she called, "....kindly introduce yourself to your new classmates". "Hello everyone, I'm Maya, Maya Williams and I'm so glad to meet you all", Maya said, with a beautiful smile on her face.

"OMG! Ann... thanks for the compliment ", Maya who was blushing exclaimed, cutting the story short. " C'mon Maya, don't be a spoiler", Sammie commented with pouting lips.

"Yes Maya, don't cut me short again", Ann backed Sammie's complaint up. "Alright ladies, stop frowning", Maya responded. "So as I was saying....", Ann continued her narration.

After Maya introduced herself, the teacher commended her for the introduction. " From now on you'll be seating with Ann", the teacher said, pointing to Ann.

"Ann...", she called. "Yes...? Mrs Smith", Ann answered. " Maya is in your care, kindly show her around the school, probably during lunch hours", Mrs Smith commanded and Ann answered, "Alright Mrs Smith".

Maya took her things and went to sit on the chair beside Ann. "Hi", Maya said with a smile. "Hi, welcome to town", Ann said, smiling.

Maya sat on her seat and brought other books to receive lessons. After lessons, it was time for lunch; "Maya are you done now, let's go get lunch", Ann said in her adorable soft voice.

"Some minutes please", Maya pleaded trying to finish up her work. Once Maya was done, the girls got up and went to the cafeteria for lunch together.

On their way to the cafeteria, Ann tried to strike a conversation. "Heard you just got to town, when did you move in", she asked. "Moved in last week", Maya answered.

"You?", she also asked. "Was born here", Ann replied. "Wow, that's cool, what about your siblings?", "I have none Maya, been me all the way but I have a sister, not my parents child but she's my cousin", Ann answered, carrying her tray.

"Hmm, same here too, no sibling", Maya said, standing in line behind Ann. "Then we have a lot in common Maya", Ann said happily, looking back at Maya before returning her face forward.

"Yeah, I guess so...", was all Maya said. The queue moved and the girls got served. Getting to their seat, a girl of about Maya's class and age approached them.

Maya could easily recognize her because she sat behind her in class. When Maya was about to put a spoon of rice in her mouth, the girl hit the table.

"Look who's here, the new girl in town", the girl said with an obvious braced teeth. "What's your business here Isabella, aren't you having lunch yet?", Ann said with an irritated face.

"What's bad in introducing ourselves to the new kid in town Ann? or don't you want her to have new friends?", Isabella smirked.

"Its obvious you're here for trouble Isabella, leave us alone now or I call my dad to sue you. I know you wouldn't want your dad to lose his previous money to my family once I win right", Ann said, threatening her.

"See you around losers", Issy said walking away with her two bully friends. One pointing her two left hand fingers to her eyes and then to Ann and Maya.

"What was that about?, aren't they girls from our class", Maya who was surprised said with mouth agape. "They're the class bullies Maya, don't mind them and let's eat", Maya said, assuredly.

"Wow, sorry to cut you Ann but that was one hell of a story", it was Sammie's turn to cut the story short. "I know right?", Maya chuckled, gulping her beer. "Ahhhh.... refreshing", she said.

"So how did you both become besties?", Samantha asked, curiously. "Urghh... Sammie...", Ann said, almost frustrated by her question.

Laughing, Maya said, "Will save you the stress baby, I'll tell her".
