Chapter 10: College resumption 2

The alarm I set rang and I groaned. "Urghh, yesterday was tiring", I whispered to myself, referring to yesterday's tour.

Today is the first day of my resumption and I won't lie of not been nervous.

No...! not just nervous, I feel scared and also anxious. Another phase has just begun in my life and I have missed feelings about it.

College isn't like middle school or high school, college is where life is. College is the real deal. A lot has changed in my life within a short time but nothing has changed about my love life.

Reluctantly getting up from my bed, I hoped getting into college fixes something about my love life.

Letting go of my thoughts and fears, I tied my towel around my chest and went into the bathroom.

Few minutes after my bath, I went to the closet to pick a dress. After turning everything upside down, I finally settled for a jean skirt bum short, a white round color top, a blue face cap, a blue small bag and a white flat sandal.

While applying my nude lipstick, I heard a knock on the door, *knock knock*. "Yes...???", I answered and faced my mirror again, jamming my lips together.

" Waiting for you Maya, let's not be late to school. Its the first day in college remember?, I'll be awaiting you at the dinning for breakfast", Ann said and left.

Hearing Ann say 'the first day in college' brought back my anxiety. I quickly rushed things and went to join her at the dining.

"Morning Ann", "Morning baby", she responded and I sat down to have breakfast. Today's breakfast is sandwich, scrambled egg, apple, mackerel, and a cup of coffee; which of course is very much needed.

Taking a bite of my sandwich, I looked at Ann and asked, " how do you feel Ann?, I mean about resumption". "A little scared and nervous", she said sipping her coffee. "You can say that again, I just hope we would make any mistakes today and everything goes smoothly", I replied.

"We both know life ain't a bed of roses Maya but I wouldn't deny the fact that what you're hoping for is the same thing I'm hoping for", she said, chuckling.

We got into the car but had the chauffeur drive this time and that is because of the nervousness we were experiencing currently.

Sitting at the back seat as the chauffeur drove, everywhere was silent as a grave yard. We both sat looking out the window, each having different thoughts.

"We're here misses", the chauffeur said, bringing me out of my thoughts back to reality. Before taking our leave this morning, I and Ann had already told the chauffeur to inform us once we got to the entrance of the school before driving in just in case we were oblivious to the surrounding due to our thoughts.

Looking out the window, what i saw amazed me.

Though I've seen pictures of my new school and apartment from that, I've also watched various videos of the school, the sight I'm seeing now is nothing compared to what I watched.

Coming out of our benz, i and Ann admired the school entrance.

I can't deny the fact that the school is so beautiful. The front has a lot of hibiscus flowers and roses planted in front of it.

The big horse statue dividing the road into an entry and exit is called 'magnificent'. I could already wonder how much thousands of dollars they spent on it.

The curve arc was hugely constructed and the road leading into the school was widely tared. "This is nice", I finally found my voice.

"This is more than nice Maya, it is beautiful", Ann corrected, drooling. The tall beautiful trees are not an exemption. We took pictures and went back into the car.

I and Ann kept on gawking on the things we saw, we took pictures and made little videos very now and then forgetting about our nervous ordeal.

"First stop, the administration block", Ann said as we got out of the car. We headed to the administrative block and began our enrollment.

"Its 1:00pm already", I said looking at my watch and yawning at the same time. I and Ann are already exhausted, we've literally paraded the whole school due to the enrollment process.

Thank goodness we're finally done with it. "Since were done now, i think it's time to go home. Our time table isn't out yet", Ann said and I agreed.

Though there aren't much students in school yet but I can now see that all the nervousness and fear were all a waste of time.

There's no big deal about resumption. We were just scared for nothing.

We drove back home and everywhere was quiet again, I couldn't hold the silence anymore so I spoke, bombarding Ann with questions; "what do you think about the school atmosphere today?, do you think there would be a lot of people in school tomorrow than there was today?.

"There's nothing to be scared of Maya, stop been nervous and loose that knot in your stomach. Everything is going to go well and smooth; hopefully... hhhmmm?", she said, placing an assuring hand on my shoulder.

"Hmmm", I replied, nodding. The drive back home was quiet and we both took dinner and went to our respective rooms to rest and prepare for the following day but one thing I forgot to ask Ann is if she notice the attention on us today.

Not that i saw anyone look at us badly but I saw some guys look at us with admiration or 'was it just my thought?', I asked myself; 'I don't know, whatever...!'; i answered myself again and sighed.

* * * *

"Good morning Tuesday", I whispered, greeting the day. Still sitting on my bed, I rubbed my eyes and yawn; we'll be going to finish up our enrollment process today and get our time table as well.

I wore my flip flops and stripped myself naked in order to tie my towel around my chest. I went into the bathroom to clean up.

A hour later, I went to the dinning and met Ann sitting already. "Morning Annie", I greeted, smiling. "Good morning Maya, hope you had a good night rest?", she asked meaningfully.

"Yes baby, I did and I'm not longer nervous", I said smiling. Drawing the chair backwards to have my seat; "serve my breakfast Lydia", I commanded, referring to our cook.

Last night, i and mom talked and i also told her about all that happened yesterday. Texting my mom, I took my toast and drank my coffee.

I volunteered to drive today so I got to the driver's seat and drove to school.

The sun was scotching enough to literally fry us alive. Sweating all over, we heaved a sigh of relief. "Finally done with the processes, let's go get our time table at the notice board", I said after finishing my bottle of water.

We got to our department notice board and copied our time table. Looking at the notice board, it says there's gonna be a fresher's party sunday evening.

"We have two classes tomorrow", Ann said and I nodded; confirming it. "Let's get going, we're done here today", I said and we headed home with Ann driving us back.

"Ann, what do you think about the fresher's party?", I asked, hoping she'll want to go as well.

"Nothing bad, I'd love to go, wouldn't you love to?", she asked and I replied; "of course I'd love to. Let's come out of our comfort zones and enjoy life Ann".

"Look who's talking", Ann said, laughing. She looked at me and retracted her eyes to focus on her driving saying; " I'm supposed to be telling you that Amaya. Remember 'you only live once', so let's live it wisely loving and get loved".

"Same thing you've been preaching to me Annabelle, please come of it", I said rolling my eyes to see her grin.

"Alright, just please don't die an old maid", Aunty wouldn't love that", she said. "Yeah... Yeah, Seer Ann", I said, mockingly and she burst into laughter.

"Hmm", was all I replied.

FRESHER'S PARTY

Today is the fresher's party and I can't stop been excited. The party was said to take place at a very popular club here in town Q.

Time has been set to 7:00pm till dawn but that is not even an issue, the chauffeur will be driving us back just in case we get tipsy or drunk.

The issue at hand now is the dress to wear. I just can't pick a dress yet though it seems the time is still early, 'or is 4:00pm not early enough to prepare for a party?'; i asked myself, sighing.

My whole closet has been turned upside down of which I'm very sure the same will be the condition of Ann's closet.

Walking out of my room, I yelled, "Ann, I haven't found the perfect clothes yet". "Same here Maya, you're in the same dilemma as I am", she said as I walked into her room.

Sitting on the bed, I could see the mess Ann has made already; but the truth is my room is more messy than hers.

"Do you remember the pink skimpy leather skirt I bought when we were shopping for stationeries?", Ann asked. "Hmm... Hmmm", i nodded nodding.

"I can't seem to find it anywhere, though I haven't wore it, I mean, I have a lot of clothes I see and love while shopping but I haven't wore them since I bought them; I think now is the perfect time to wear that"; she said, pouting.

"Sorry baby, try checking it out well, I have to go continue searching for something to wear here too.

7:10 PM....

We left home exactly 7:10pm. Ann finally saw her slimy pink leather skirt which was what she wore alongside a see through black blouse and a black heel. She styled her hair in a ponytail and also putted on pink lipstick and carried a black purse.

My dressing wasn't much, I wore a strap shiny silver color short gown which was not up to knee length with a black heel and also a black lipstick. I left my hair loosed tonight since ive always been packing it in a bun or ponytail.

We got into the limo with the chauffeur driving. When we got to the venue, I could see some guys winking at us and drooling with admiration.

"Here is my pass", i said to the bouncer, stretching my ticket to him. Ann showed hers also and he showed us in.

"Lets go up, lounged D is where our party is", i said and we headed up. Though the main club was down, there was a seperate place for gatherings which are called lounge.

"Cool, I love this place", Ann whispered and I laughed. The noise from the music downstairs resonated around every corner of the club.

Alcohol smelled in the air, shouts and hails could be heard as a lot of people danced under the disco light. "This is lounge C, ours should be the next", Ann said and I nodded.

We finally got to our lounge and we opened the door. Walking in, I could see a lot of eyes piercing through my skin.

The lounge was a very big compartment with a private bar. "Hey guys, welcome to the fresher's party", our departmental leader, Dave greeted with a hug.

"Thanks Dave", I said, giving him a peck.

After exchanging pleasantries, we began the whole fresher's party agenda. Then I and Ann decided to privately go rock widely at the dance floor.

I order scotch while Ann ordered whiskey. We then proceeded to the dance floor and swayed along with the music.

I and Ann laughed and filled our empty cups with alcohol again. A guy came to me and started rocking me from behind, I could see Ann twerking on a blonde guy too.

I looked at her and laughed. "You only live once Maya", she said, raising her cup like she was cheering with the air.

"Sure Ann", I replied, also raising my cup and going wild. Though we haven't been laid and have promised it will be with someone who we love and also loves us wholeheartedly, I didn't slap see a reason not to go with the flow.

Moreover, we'll be going back to our boring loveless life after this, so why not make use of this once in a lifetime opportunity to the fullest.

Shaking my head, i cleared every thought in it. Tonight is not the night to have any thought or be distracted, though I'm going to be cautious of course but apart from that, I'm going to for once in my life go with the flow.

Just like Annabelle said; 'YOLO: You Only Live Once'.
