1 Valentine's day

Ella couldn't believe she had just gotten rejected again after all the effort she put into going for that Talent show audition earlier that morning, She was filled with anger and was also beginning to feel hungry since she had left the house without having breakfast that morning because she was hurrying to meet up for the audition.

She walked out of the conference room and out of the Talent Agency building looking very dejected. She looked around if she could find any close by restaurant to eat first before going home. After walking for a bit, she stumbled upon a restaurant with a signboard written boldly Zuni Café.

"Why do I keep getting rejected in all these auditions? Why are the judges so mean to me? Why don't they like the way I sing? Haaaa!" Ella exclaimed in frustration as she headed for the restaurant. Just as she tried to pull open the door of the restaurant, she accidentally bumped into a guy who was on his way out.

"Are you blind or something? Do you want to knock me down with the door? It's obvious you can't see because I'm not so small." Ella yelled out in her frustrated state.

"Hey! I'll suggest you watch how you speak. Didn't you see I was opening the door from the inside. At least the door has a transparent glass so you're the one who is obviously blind and needs to get glasses." He rebuked her with a scoff.

"You must be very stupid! I don't blame you. You big guys think it's everyone you see you can intimidate." Ella called after him as he walked out, leaving her there fuming with anger.

"What kind of crazy ass bitch is this." He hissed as he got into his car.

He was in a very shitty mood himself as he was leaving the restaurant after seeing his ex girlfriend who had cheated on him walk into the restaurant with her new boyfriend. He had lost his appetite the moment he saw them, and left his meal. Her presence there irritated him and reminded him once again that women were scum and weren't to be trusted in the least bit, so he had decided to leave.

Earlier that morning he had gotten a call from his sister who informed him that their mother was ill, and that had put him in a foul mood, and now this.

Ella got inside the restaurant and pulled out a seat while trying to calm herself. She plugged in her Air pod and played one of her songs which she had recorded in a studio and sent to phone.

The waiter walked up to her. "Hello! What would you like to have?" The calm lady asked her trying to take her order.

"I want roasted chicken with bread salad and a pack of hollandia yogurt." Ella said, as the waiter jotted down. "Your order would be ready in ten minutes." She replied Ella.

Ella's phone rings. She picks the call up immediately.

"Ashley I got rejected again." Ella announced in a defeated voice.

"Ohhh that's sad, I understand how you are feeling right now and I want to let you know that you're a great singer and as your best friend I know you'll get accepted maybe the next Talent show audition you would be in luck. You have a wonderful voice the world needs to listen to you. And also I feel you need to put in more effort in training yourself girl" Ashely said trying to encourage her friend.

"There's a concert holding today and your favorite Artist would be performing, I'm sure you've seen the posters right? It starts in the evening, so you can come to my place later so we'll go together, I bought tickets already."

"Really? Wow! That's really sweet of you babe, at least today wouldn't be a total bad day for me. Thank you for your words of encouragement too. I'll see you later I'm in a restaurant to eat breakfast now." Ella said.

"Alright girl. Enjoy your meal." Ashley said before she hung up.

"Your order is ready. And we added our valentine special chocolate treat since today is Valentine's day. Happy Valentine's day." The waiter said with a cheerful smile as she dropped the tray on the table.

"Oh! It's Valentine's day! Thank you" Ella responded with a frown. Another stupid Valentine's day without a boyfriend, or anything to show for her career. Ella thought gloomily before glancing at the couple opposite her who were laughing like they didn't have a worry in the world.

She hissed irritably when she noticed they were touching each other while smiling foolishly at each other. "Why are they so happy? What's so good about this stupid Valentine's day?" She asked herself in annoyance.

Angry Ella was single but also she would push away any guy that came to profess love to her. She was a strongwilled and totally independent woman. "I don't need a man in my life now, they're distractions!" was what she always told herself...but she knew she lied to herself.
