8 In the kitchen

Ashley woke up first and went to take her bath, She looked at her boyfriend and saw he was still sleeping so she didn't disturb him.

She felt much better, the Menstrual pain had subsided, she could now walk straight without bending to hold her stomach.

Daniel woke up and stretched his arm across the bed to touch her but his hand could only feel the bedsheet. Then he turned around to searched for her in the room, when he didn't see her, he called her name.

"Ashley…Ash" he called out as he moved towards the door and stopping on hearing dripping sounds from the bathroom.

"Babe, are you bathing?" Daniel asked her standing by the door.

"Yes," she said washing off bubbles of soap from her face as she paused to listen to him.

"Ash I'll be in the kitchen."

"I'll be with you in ten minutes" Ashley replied him from the bathroom.

Ashley's phone rang after five minutes. She was already out of the bathroom, and tying her towel. Ashley searched through her box, looking for a nightie to wear, when she saw it she placed it on the bed and moved to pick her phone from the side of the bed where she left it. The caller was Ella.

"Hi girl! What's up with you?" Ella asked Ashley as she picked the call. "I'm okay although going through Menstrual pain," she replied.

She placed her phone on loud speaker so she could wear her nightie and still respond to the call.

"Ohhh. Sorry dear, did you take pain killers?" Ella asked with concern in her voice, knowing how tough it was for her friend on the first day of her period.

She remembered helplessly watching her friend writhe and roll in pain a month ago when she visited her.

"How's Danny boy too? Does he know you're ill? Hope he's taking care of you?" She asked, giggling this time. "Yes he is!" Ashley said with so much confidence. "He's fine too."

"I trust him. He's so caring, unlike you" Ella said teasingly as they both chuckled.

Ashley and Ella were best friends since their days in College. They met during their screening into city college of San Francisco.

"I've been at his place since Valentine." She added with a naughty smile playing on her lips.

"How did your day go? Did you write any song?" Ashley asked showing concern about her friend. "Yes I wrote a new song, I stayed in my room for too long today" she said giggling. "I was tired but I didn't just feel like doing something else until William called."

"He said he wanted to see me so we could have lunch together."

"Hmm.. interesting,

Are you going for any Audition tomorrow?" Ashley asked.

"No..no, I'd just stay at home to write and record more songs. And just do my music at home for now."

Ashley paced slowly around the room while she talked to her friend on call.

"I actually don't feel like going for any Audition again" she paused. "I'm tired of these auditions, they just keep frustrating me" she said giving a sad sigh.

"No don't say that…When next you see a music talent show go for it! Stop feeling discouraged, nothing good comes easy you know" Ashley said encouraging her. "And even if you don't get it don't stop trying your best. Giving up is not an option."

Ashley placed one of her hand on her cheek looking serious as she spoke on the call, she had always been Ella's motivator, and Ella took her like an elder sister since she was older and more mature.

"Ok, I'll keep going for auditions that I come across"

Ella paused for a while thinking of what next to say to change the conversation from the gloomy state it was.

"Yeah back to William… we had lunch today, you can't believe he says he's in love with me already? Girl You need to see how he stared at me." she chuckled slightly.

Ella remembered how the lunch with William made her uncomfortable at first. Until he started talking about her music.

"Awwwnn" Ashley said excitedly.

She was excited at the thought of her friend having a lover soon. She had noticed during the last concert they were at, the way Ella looked at William that night that she assumed something was up.

"Looks like someone's about to get herself a boyfriend!.. oh I can't wait" Ashley said cheerily.

"Huh! What are you talking about?" Ella asked pretending not to understand her friend.

"He said he's in love with you and I'm so sure you like him even if it's a little…we can start from that." Ashley babbled about.

"Yes I like him a little but I have doubts… you know he's an actor, he could be playing around and not wanting anything serious." Her thoughts made her feel somehow about him.

"It doesn't feel real, he's flirting with me." Ella said trying to convince herself.

"But girl! You know he's an actor and he's also very good looking, so maybe you just feel insecure" said Ashley.

"Just give him a trial".

"I don't want to rush things, so I'm going to take things slowly with him. I wouldn't want my heart broken,…time would tell if he genuinely loves me".

"Although he mentioned giving my songs to a friend of his who was a member of a record label, I don't know how true that was but I'm just gonna keep my head high hoping for the best." she said smiling.

"Baby!" Daniel called out…"what's keeping you?" thinking if she would still be in the bathroom for that long.

"I'll be joining you soon" Ashley replied Daniel but she wasn't loud enough for him to hear her from the room.

"That's the spirit"

"Okay babe. I have to go now. Danny is calling me, he needs my help in the kitchen now, we'll talk tomorrow.

"People that have boyfriend." Ella said hissing, then they both chuckled.

"Go and have your boyfriend and stop being so jelly." Ashley teased her.

"Thank you and take care. My regards to Dan." Then she ended the call.

Ashley laid her back on the bed thinking of what she had just discussed with her friend on the phone when she was interrupted by Daniel's call the second time.

"Baby!!!"

"Yes babe, I was on a call with Ella," she said walking into the kitchen carrying her phone along with her.

She saw him facing the gas cooker with a pot on it. It had steam coming out from it. It must be a spicy soup she thought in her mind.

"Oh. How's she?, hope she's good?" he asked showing concern about Ella.

"She's fine, we had a long talk and she asked about you baby" Ashley replied hugging him from behind, seeing him reminded her of their unfinished business. As she hugged him she peeped into the pot to see what he was cooking. He was cooking a green spicy soup called Aguadito.

"What are you cooking for dinner Mr. chef?" She asked teasingly.

He turn around to give her a kiss while carrying her to his waist level resting her back against the wall as support. He remembered when they kissed earlier and had to urge to continue.

"Aguadito" she simply responded.

"How are you feeling now young lady?" Daniel asked playfully.

"As you can see, I am much better young man" Ashley replied trying to mimic him. Then they both laughed softly.

He planted a light kiss on her succulent pink lips. Then she placed her hands around his neck holding him firmly as she leaned in for more kisses. This time it was slowly as Ashley focused on his lower lips giving a teasing bite. They both looked into each other's eyes like they were searching for something.

He moved back to stand close to his pot on the gas cooker.

"We'll continue the kiss after eating babe." Daniel said softly to please her.

They were both very playful with each other, their love is what you'd describe as a perfect match. Dan was more playful and it made them get along with ease.

Daniel continued his cooking as Ashley later got tired of standing and sat on the chair in their kitchen watching him. She was grinning ear to ear as she watched her man prepare dinner for them.

"He's really a sweet boy" she said in her heart as they both looked at each other smiling occasionally.

Food was ready, as Daniel began to dish out the food on one plate. He carried the plate to their dining table. "Dinner is ready babe" he said giving her a smile. Then she followed behind him as they walked to the dinning room.
