10 A Glorious morning

"Ain't hungry now. Please leave some for me." She pleaded, looking at her Mom who wore a draped black mini dress, and knew something was up.

Her mother only wore those types of dresses when she was to go on a date with her boyfriend. She became a widow when Ella's dad died five years ago. Her boyfriend was divorced and he planned on taking Mrs. Andrew as his wife.

"Seems like someone is going somewhere." Ella sang, a smirk playing on her lips.

Mrs. Andrew giggled softly.

"Well, Peter is taking me to the cinema after dinner. Felt you should eat with us before we leave." She shrugged.

"I'm good, mom. You guys have fun." Ella said cheerily and plugged back in her earphones.

Golden rays of sunshine filled her room and she could hear the faint chirping of birds. She woke up to the sound of her phone's ringtone.

Ella searched for her phone on the bed with closed eyes, and when the phone stopped ringing, she stopped searching and went back to sleep. She was jolted back to reality when it rang again and she sat up grudgingly with sleepy eyes and looked at her phone to see the caller. It was William.

She had thoughts as to why William's would call her so early. What could he be up to? Is everything okay with him? She questioned herself.

"Good morning Sunshine!" His deep voice boomed through the other end.

"William, Good morning!" she greeted as she raked through her hair, looking confused and also surprised. She was surprised he called her sunshine but she decided to ignore it and focus on why he called her this early.

"There's good news," he said with an unnerving pause.

"What's up?" she replied to him.

"I met an old friend and we had a one on one discussion and I told him about you." William paused again, looking up at his ceiling.

Ella sat up with a puzzled expression on her face. She didn't understand what he meant when he said he told the friend about her.

"I don't understand, what did you tell him about me?" she asked, confusion seeping through her face.

"Hold on Ella," he said sensing that she was confused. "He's the owner of HIJ music record label".

Ella quickly understood and she had beams of smiles all over her face. She unconsciously stood up and walked aimlessly through her room as she listened to him.

"He listened to your songs and said they're pretty dope and he just might sign you up, but he'd want to see you perform before him first. To know if you're worthy of getting into his label" William said and waited for her response.

She stared at the wall bright-eyed. "How do I get to meet him?" she asked, eager to know more.

"I would be on set today, for that movie I told you about, else I would have offered to come to pick you up so we could go see him together," William said.

"Okay then, I'll visit you at your house when you get back from work." She said eagerly.

"Just give me a call whenever you're ready. I'll come over to your house and we'd go there." Ella added.

"Alright then, have a nice day." He said ending the call.

Ella went to quickly shower. When she was done, she came out tying a towel around her chest; pulled out a chair, and sat in front of her dressing mirror. She brushed her blonde long hair and styled it into a ponytail.

Applying light makeup, she looked at herself and smiled cheerily.

Ella wore a black turtle neck body hug top and blue denim trousers with a black flat shoe. She tried to dress casually with a bit of classiness in a way to make a good first impression before a popular record label CEO.

She had plans to visit Ashley at her Bakery and today was the perfect day since she was free until William would call her. She called Ashley to know if she was at her bakery or home.

She got outside the house and used her phone to request an Uber using the Uber app. The Uber got to her Location in ten minutes.

She opened the door and got into the Uber, she greeted and said "please take me to Ashley Bakery and Café," looking at the Uber driver. He looked like he was in his late fifties and had dark brown hair and a mustache.

"You're looking beautiful, miss." He said, complimenting her. "Thank you," she replied with a formal smile.

He looked up at his rear mirror and saw Ella at the back seat looking outside with her hands by the window.

"Celebrating your birthday?" the Uber driver asked her, trying to start up a conversation with her as a daunting silence fell among them.

His question jolted her back to reality from the world of overthinking. She was thinking furiously about what she would say to introduce herself, and also hoping the CEO would be impressed by her performance.

She had stayed up all night rehearsing the song she would present.

It was one of her favorites, amongst one of the songs she had released, so she knew every lyric and every tune, yet she wanted to be perfect. She was careful not to hope too much, but she kept fantasizing about the possibilities of getting signed into the HIJ record label. She got the creeps but she tried to be calm.

"No…I'm going to visit a friend. She owns the bakery." Ella replied.

Ella took out her phone from her bag in an attempt to get herself busy. She was uninterested in the conversation. Her mind wandered far and all her thoughts were about meeting the CEO of the record label.

The driver was surprised at her answer and he wanted to ask more questions. He admired her beauty and also observe she was reserved but wanted her to talk more. He glanced at her again through the rearview mirror.

"Your friend?" He questioned.
