11 Chapter 11: Study Hard

And so, Su Ning fully immersed herself in her studies and singing practice. With the help of Li Youqing, she got introduced to a vocal coach who will help her improve her self taught techniques. Days passed by quickly and soon the results of her hard work are visible. During the first monthly test, she scored 450 out of 750 cumulative points. Su Ning knew the grades of the original owner were very average but she missed the past 2 monthly tests due to her illness. With this score she is no longer bottom of her class.

At first the other students in 1-3 did not notice Su Ning's determination since a score of 450 seems pretty normal. However, they did feel bad in their hearts when they saw the pretty girl keep working on practice questions and consulting with the top scorer Qin Rong. Su Ning would even practice English vocabulary and Chinese literature with her friends Li Youqing and Lin Miao. Observing this daily, they cannot help but feel moved in their hearts and internally began to cheer for their class fairy's success.

Soon another month passed and students are eagerly awaiting Mr Song to post the test results on the board. Su Ning cannot help but be a bit nervous to check how much her scores have risen. Since she began to take her studies seriously, she stopped going out on weekends with her parents except for some social family events. Her friend Lin Miao quickly motioned to her by the white board! "Su Ning! You scored 550 out of 750 this time!" "Wah Kao! Isn't that much better than last time" another classmate said. Su Ning was also quite happy with this improvement and vowed to try even harder next time.

Of course, Qing Mei and her little buddies Ma KeLi and Qiu Wei remain antagonistic to Su Ning. "Is 550 worth celebrating?" Qiu Wei mentioned with disdain. "The score is only average. Some people just really rely on looks." Ma KeLi piped in. Though this group of three are not top of class academically, their grades are still above average. In fact, Qiu Wei had scored 598 and Qing Mei had scored 610 while Ma KeLi trailed behind at 580. However, all three had grades higher than Su Ning. Actually, Qing Mei was disturbed by Su Ning's constant progress. Qing Mei reminded herself that she will completely crush Su Ning at the singing contest in the next few days. She wants to completely wipe the smile from Su Ning's face and regain her popularity in class 1-3. Last year she won second place in the contest now that the previous first place winner had transferred to a new middle school, she can even place higher. Eventually, she will compete in the A City inter school competition and get the attention of the instructors in M Academy!

Su Ning, who already knew of the group's hostility, did not let their words bother her. She was already 29 years old in mental age so arguing with 12 year olds really didn't sit well with her. However, she was slightly curious as to why Qing Mei disliked her so much. In the past 2 months, Qing Mei's two buddies have tried to make some small trouble for her. It was all very childish pranks eg: attempting to trip her, not distributing or collecting her assignments, or purposefully hiding her school shoes. Once Su Ning's classmates realized she was being targeted in class, they stood up to the two lackeys on her behalf. Even young children have a moral compass - a strong sense of right and wrong. Needless to say the trio's reputation took a hit as the students in 1-3 no longer wanted to hangout with them. Su Ning just shook her head and hoped that the kids would learn from their mistakes. That way they still have a chance to upstanding adults in the future. She checked the time and prepared to meet up with her vocal coach to practice for the upcoming competition. There are still a few more practice sessions; Su Ning feels very optimistic about this contest.
