Chapter 14: There is Always a Way

Returning to her room, Gu Qibao was at her wit's end. Di Mingjue was horrible and extremely hateful, threatening her without consideration of the situation or the people involved.

Having taken everything he could from her, he put on airs as if he were some lord while she reduced to a subordinate. Who could possibly have raised such a top-grade jerk?

Years later, Fang Hao remained silent. Actually, Di Mingjue's attitude wasn't her fault!

As time was ticking away, Gu Qibao felt so miserable that she couldn't even cry.

Maybe she should put on a pitiful act!

Jump off a building?

No, the building was too short. It would be even more tragic if she ended up disabled instead of dead.

Perhaps, she should take pills?

No, no, they would have to pump her stomach if she did. That would be just pitiful.

Just when she was about to lose hope, her fifth sister, Gu Chun, entered the room, seductively swaying her hips.

Gu Qibao looked at her like she was her savior. "Sis, my dear sis, can you help me get out of here secretly?"

"What for?" Gu Chun asked.

Gu Qibao, now desperate and unashamed, quickly replied, "You know, I've been stuck at home for three days since Di Mingjue and I... well, you know... If I don't take birth control pills after midnight, I might get pregnant!"

Gu Chun patted Gu Qibao comfortingly and leaned in close. "Don't worry, I came to help you."

"Really?" Gu Qibao's eyes widened in surprise. She was almost brought to tears. Her sister was such a blessing.

"Sis, you must be my real sister!" An emotionally overwhelmed Gu Qibao began to cry, hastily pulling Gu Chun along. "Let's go quickly."

"No rush." Gu Chun shook off her hand and beamed. "I've already prepared everything for you."

With that, Gu Chun produced a pill. "This is the morning-after pill. Take it quickly."

Facing the pill Gu Chun held out, Gu Qibao quickly grabbed it and swallowed it down whole. Instantly, she felt a great relief wash over her.

The intense tension and anxiety suddenly lessened. Gu Qibao, weakened by the relief, flopped onto the bed. "I can finally sleep well tonight."

"..." Gu Chun looked at her disdainfully. Gu Qibao had slept as peacefully as a log last night, oblivious of her predicament.

"Do you really not want to have Di Mingjue's child?" Gu Chun nudged her.

"Hell no!" Gu Qibao replied, utterly bewildered. "Why would I want to have his child? He's not even paying me. What do I gain from bearing his child? Surrogates get at least tens and hundreds of millions for each pregnancy!"

Seeing Gu Qibao's obliviousness, Gu Chun couldn't help but give her a rap on the head. "You idiot, if you marry him, you won't just get tens and hundreds of millions. You'll have billions! His eldest brother is about to become president, and his second brother is in the military. Doesn't that make your heart race?"

Gu Chun even made the pose of a torchbearer for emphasis.

Damn, heart racing my ass!

Gu Qibao glared at Gu Chun, shuddering. "You make it sound like you want to sleep with every son in the Di Family."

Gu Chun gave her a sideway glance. "Gu Xiaoqi, you are simply wasting my passion."

She roused her for no purpose!

After Gu Chun left, Gu Qibao wondered, did Di Mingjue have that much money?

Wait, why was she considering this? She was almost becoming his subordinate, and still thinking about such trivial matters, she's not poor!

What Gu Qibao didn't know was that the pill Gu Chun gave her wasn't a morning-after pill. Instead, it was a high-tech drug that could delay her period for about a month. It wouldn't harm the body or obstruct pregnancy but merely prolong the lifespan of the ovum.

Many affluent young ladies, in order to marry richer men, often used this drug to deceive their partners into marriage.

After some discussions within the family, they decided to trick Gu Qibao, as she was too defiant for direct confrontations. As long as Gu Qibao 'becomes pregnant,' marriage will be inevitable. If she didn't get her period after a month, the matter would be settled.
