12 It’s you (3)

It's so warm and cozy, and I could smell the simmering rice porridge and toast bread. "Wake up sleepy head. You're gonna be late for school." "Give me ten more minutes," as I give him a grumpy look and start pulling the cover over my head. I heard my brother's footsteps and start sliding the curtains open. I could feel the heat shining on me and I couldn't fall back asleep anymore. Even though my brother is five years older than me, we still get along very well and we would share our most inside secrets to each other. I wouldn't know what to do if he wasn't here with me.

Kyle's Point of view....

It's Saturday morning and the snow had stopped. The sun start shining through the window and it hit my eyes. I start opening my eyes and saw Lilian sitting right next to me. I try to get up and realized that our hands are together. I looked at her and start smoothing out her hair. Suddenly, I saw tears coming down and as I try to wipe it off, she hold my hand and said "please, don't go."

A pain starts to spread to my heart and I gave her hand a squeeze, and wipe her tears away.

I felt a warm and soft touch across my face. My eyes slowly opened and saw Kyle in front of me. I forgot that I fell asleep right next to him. I sat up and look straight into his eyes. I have so many questions to ask him regarding about the necklace and the gloves, but before I could answer him, he told me to wait downstairs. As I went down the stairs, someone knocked on the door. I went to open it and my mom showed up. She handed me the breakfast that she made and told me to meet up with her at 12pm at the subway station. I clenched my fist and my eyes are getting watery, but I can't let my mom see it. I quickly said okay and closed the door. I took out the food from the container and placed it on a plate. I sat at the kitchen table and waited for him to come down. I told myself that I have to ask him the question before I leave. As I continue to wait, I heard footsteps coming down and he walked over to the kitchen. I told him that my mom bought over food for us and say that we should eat. I try to find the right timing to ask him while we were eating. He suddenly put down his chopsticks and looked at me. "You want to ask me something right?" I was stunned and was wondering how does he know. "Well, yes." I took a big gulp of water before I start talking again.

"First, I want to ask how come you have my gloves and how did you know it was mine?" and as I was waiting for his reply, I saw a smirk on his face. "I bought that glove for you five years ago." I'm so confuse because I thought my brother gave it to me. "Huh? I don't understand. Why did you buy it for me?" I remember that the glove was inside a box and it said "To: Lillian and From: J" I thought it was from my brother since I thought the J meant James, but now I think of it, it could be really from him since his last name is Jung. "Why did you get me gloves?" I asked him again. "Because I saw that you gave your glove to a homeless person on the street and found out that you live right next door to me" he said it without any hesitation. "Then how come you have my gloves then?" "I found it on the sidewalk near your house when I went out to throw out the garbage." Then I remembered that yesterday I rushed out the door and I must've dropped it while running. "Ok then, my second question is why do you have my brother's necklace?" After I asked him that, he didn't answer me right away and his face got so serious. "This is because your brother saved my life from that fire and he handed me this necklace before he pushed me out the room. During that moment, the ceilings were collapsing and the fire got stronger, and your brother sacrificed himself and saved me." After hearing what he said, I could feel my body shaking and memories of that day came back to me. I clenched my fist and ask him "when you said that you like me, was that true or is it because you feel bad and decide to just stay by myside because of my brother?" He suddenly grabbed my hand and said "No, I fell in love with you since that day you gave your glove to a homeless person. And from that day on, I've been noticing you around the school and in my everyday life. After that accident, I know that you're the person that I have to protect and love from now on. I'm not only doing it because of your brother, but also because I love you." He said all of this while looking into my eyes and holding my hands.
