1 Chapter one

The prince sat at the high table with the ministers and the council. He was surrounded from all sides as it was his coronation day. Being the crown prince of the kingdom he had been groomed for this day all his life.

The crown on his head was small but the burden it brought along with it was weighing gravely on his shoulders.

"Where is the king?" he asked his butler.

"He went out on important matters," the butler replied him.

He took his spoon from the table and cut it into his meat. He took the piece of meat to eat when suddenly it was slapped out of his hand. He looked up to his butler in the question of his behavior.

"Save the prince," the butler yelled. The room became chaotic with people running up and down.

"W...what is happening?" the prince asked as he was being rushed out of the palace through the back door. The secret exit to the palace was opened and he was led through the path.

The butler was pulling the prince out of the palace with few soldiers following behind them. The horses were in waiting at the end of the tunnel.

"Get on," the butler ordered and helped him onto the horse. The soldiers took to the horses and followed behind the prince to protect him.

"The food had been poisoned. Your life is in danger," the butler said. "We must head south," he instructed leading the way.

The prince held onto his horse and rode faster than the speed of the wind. He was the second-fastest rider in the kingdom with the king coming first.

They rode through a rough road away from the main road that is open to attack from their enemies. The road was narrow with only one horse able to pass at the same time.

"Wait," the butler said stopping them in their tracks.

"What's wrong?"

"Do you hear that?" the butler inquired of them. They all listened to the environment to hear anything but nothing. It was too quiet with no sound around the forest.

"It's way too quiet," the prince noted.

Just as he spoke the was a creaking sound coming from the forest. The butler becomes alert. He left his horse and jumped behind the prince. He wrapped his hands around the young prince and took control of the horse.

"Protect the future king at all cost," he ordered and started the horse. The soldiers stayed back at each turn to slow down the enemy from reaching the prince.

The butler rode as fast as he could on the horse not looking back. He wouldn't dare with all the people chasing the prince, his duty came first.

"Perhaps we should transform. It will be faster," the prince suggested.

"Never. You are never to transform in front of anyone ever. And if possible you must refrain from transforming ever," the butler cautioned. "It will be for the better of everyone if you don't ever take any form other than your human form."

They reached the border of the kingdom. The butler stopped the horse and got off, he helped the prince off the horse too.

"We go on foot from here," he informed.

"You do not suggest we go into the Forbidden do you?" the prince asked in fear. "It is called the Forbidden for a reason," he added.

"Do not worry your highness, your safety is my priority," the butler said pulling the prince into the Forbidden. The prince held on to the butler and let him lead him to safety.

He heard the screams of his soldiers in the distance, it was heartbreaking to hear his people dying but he had no choice but to go away.

"Your people will understand that you can't save them when you are dead," the butler explained to him feeling his hesitation. "Prince Tyrone," the butler called out trying to get him to move faster.

He grabbed the prince and stood before him letting the arrow hit his chest. The arrow hit right below his heart causing him pain. He pulled the prince's hand and made a run for it.

"Massir, you are wounded. We should stop and h.."

"We can't stop, we are almost there," he struggled to say with the running and his wound.

Massir took the prince to the old ruins of an old temple. They went inside, he let go of the prince's hand and went around in search. He looked around the temple lifting all the stones in search of something.

"What do you seek. We should find the king, he will save us," the prince said clutching his shirt. His inner demon was screaming at him to unleash it and spill the blood of all the people that pose a threat to him. He was struggling to control his demon and it was making his vision blurry.

All he needed was a little push and he would devour all that stand against him.

"The king is waiting for us where we are headed. I just need you to hold on, don't lose control," he requested him.

He got up from the floor and raised his hand to show him a pebble that he found and got the prince on the move again to protect him.

"All this for a stupid pebble?"

"It's the key to your freedom and protection," he said to him as they headed to the lake. He put his hand up at the Forbidden lake, the pebble glowed for a few minutes before it dimmed up.

They waited for a few minutes before a boat arrived at the shores. An old man with a hood over his head was on the boat steering it.

"Let's move," Massir ordered. He and the prince got on the boat and let the old man take them away from the Forbidden.

The prince looked back to a land that he had called home for too long and was forced to leave behind because of the attack on his life. His inner demon was bitter with rage for leaving without a fight.

"Some other time," he said to his inner demon to calm him.

He averted his gaze to the moon, his eyes glowed red with anger. Angry at the curse that the moon had made on him. Angry at how the moon just sat by and watched his people get attacked and did nothing.

They were the children of the moon, him less than others so he didn't understand why so much was happening.

He sat next to his butler on the boat not liking how thing played out tonight.
