Has He Done Something to Her in the Past?

"Ye Heng? Ah Heng?"

Ye Heng snapped out of his trance when he realized that someone was calling his name. He looked up and saw his mother smiling back at him.

"Mom..." Ye Heng coughed. "What's the matter?"

"I have been calling your name a few times," Ruan Xia said. "But it seemed that you were staring into space. What's going on?"

"Nothing." Ye Heng shook his head. "I was just thinking about some work matters."

Ruan Xia heaved a helpless sigh. It seemed that her son had turned into a workaholic. All he could think about was work.

It seemed that everyone in the Ye family was like this.

Her daughter, Ye Qing Xin too was always busy with her company. Now that she was married and had a son, Ye Qing Xin was even busier.

Sometimes, it was difficult for her to see her children.

But once she recalled that her son had just returned from a blind date, Ruan Xia was once again in a good mood.

A few minutes ago, she received a phone call from Old Madam Xia, Xia Meng's grandmother. The phone call lasted for a few minutes. At the end of their conversation, Ruan Xia was unable to stop smiling. She was in a very good mood.

"Don't just think about work." Ruan Xia sat beside her son and patted him on the arm. "Quickly, tell me about your date with Miss Xia."

Ye Heng had almost forgotten that he had attended a blind date with Xia Meng.

After an unexpected encounter with Tang Shi Yi in the city earlier, Ye Heng found that he could not stop thinking about his old friend.

A few years have passed since they graduated. Tang Shi Yi was still beautiful. But Ye Heng had not expected that she was now married with a kid.

He saw her earlier pushing a stroller with an older woman beside her. However, Ye Heng did not see Tang Shi Yi's husband.

Then, Ye Heng seemed to have realized something.

Tang Shi Yi did not seem too fond to reconnect their friendship. He could sense that Tang Shi Yi was avoiding him.

But he could not understand why.

Has he done something to her in the past? Was that the reason Tang Shi Yi had left without bothering to say anything to him?

He had been searching for her, but she seemed to have disappeared without a trace.

"Ye Heng?" Mother Ye shook her son's arm when she noticed that her son had been spacing out again. "Have you been listening to me? I was asking you what you think about Miss Xia?"

Ye Heng flashed his mother a smile. "There's not many things to say. Miss Xia seemed like a nice woman—"

"That's good." Ruan Xia clapped once.

The words that Ye Heng wanted to say were stuck in his throat. He stared at his mother with his eyes wide. His mother's clap surprised him.

The smile on Mother Ye's face widened. "A while ago, I received a phone call from Old Madam Xia." She gripped her son's arm a little tighter. "Ah Heng, it seemed that Miss Xia is satisfied with you. She had a good opinion of you and was looking forward to seeing you again." She looked at her son with an expecting gaze. "What do you think?"

His lips parted. Ye Heng did not expect Old Madam Xia to call his mother so soon.

His mother continued to talk about the details of her conversation with Old Madam Xia.

After a while, Ye Heng could no longer bear to listen to his mother's chatters. "Mom!" Ye Heng placed a hand on his mother's hand.

A breath of relief escaped him once his mother stopped chattering.

Ye Heng inhaled deeply and spoke, "Mom, I don't think that Miss Xia and I are suitable."

"Why not?" Ruan Xia could not hide her disappointment.

A while ago, didn't her son tell her that Miss Xia Meng is a nice woman?

"I just don't think that we clicked," Ye Heng said.

"But feelings can be developed. Ye Heng, don't you want to try meeting Miss Xia a few more times? Perhaps after talking a few more times, you would find that Miss Xia and you are suitable."

"There's no need." Ye Heng had a faint smile on his face. "Mom, earlier today, Miss Xia Meng showed up at the cafe almost half an hour after the appointment."

The look on Ruan Xia's face froze. The excitement from earlier gradually faded away. As Ye Heng's mother, Ruan Xia knew that her son took great importance on time.

As a businessman, time was very important for him. He did not like it when someone was tardy without reason.

It seemed that Miss Xia Meng had made a mistake from the beginning when she had deliberately showed up late to test her son.

Ruan Xia wanted to convince her son to give Miss Xia a chance, but she knew her son's temper well. Ye Heng had made her decision and there was nothing she could say to change her son's mind.

"Ye Heng, it seems that you have made your decision." Mother Ye patted her son's hand a few times and sighed helplessly. "Alright then. I won't force you to give Miss Xia a chance." She looked at her son with a hint of worry. "But Ye Heng, I hope that you are not deliberately pushing all the women that we set you up with."

Her son had agreed to go on a few blind dates. Initially, he might agree just to please his grandfather. However, Mother Ye was worried that her son was trying to buy time so that everyone would stop pressuring him to get married.

"I'm not." Ye Heng chuckled. "Mom, I won't waste my time or anyone else's on purpose."

Mother Ye thought about her son's words. She had to agree that her son was not someone who would do something like that on purpose.
