Caught Him in the Act

"I got here a while ago," Yin Yi Bo spoke. A helpless smile appeared on his face. "I pressed the doorbell for a long time, but no one came to open the door."

Tang Chen, who was still pretending to read his book tightened his grip on the book. He stared at the picture of the cat in her book for a long time, but it was not helping him to ease his nerves.

The little boy was worried that his mother would know that he had played a trick on Uncle Yin. His mother would definitely be angry, right?

"That's right, I heard the doorbell a while ago." Tang Shi Yi frowned. She shifted her gaze to her son as she thought of something. "Chen Chen, didn't you tell me that it was a salesperson?"

"Mhm..." Tang Chen nodded. His grip on his book tightened, but the boy was staring back at his mother with an innocent look on his face. "Mommy, just now, it was a salesperson. The doorbell was too annoying and it was disturbing my reading. I pressed the mute button to stop the sound. I did not expect that Uncle Yin would show up once the salesperson had gone."

Tang Shi Yi looked at his friend again. "Sorry, it seemed that Chen Chen made a mistake."

"It's alright." Yin Yi Bo smiled. "I thought that you might have left with Chen Chen. Fortunately, I was patient enough to wait for you outside."

Tang Shi Yi stood up immediately and looked at the clock on the wall again. She let out a gasp before turning to her bedroom again. "Oh no! I'm already this late!"

Tang Chen watched as his mother ran around the house to gather her belongings. After a while, his mother turned to his side and leaned over to kiss him on the forehead.

"Chen Chen, you have to stay home and listen to Uncle Yin, alright?" Tang Shi Yi patted her son's head a few times.

"Mommy, I know. I'll be obedient." The little boy held his mother's dress and spoke, "But you have to promise me that you will come back early, alright?"

Tang Shi Yi pinched on her son's cheek lightly. "I know. I'll try my best to come back quickly. But Chen Chen, don't wait for me, alright? You have to go to bed when it's time."

"Shi Yi, you don't have to worry about Chen Chen," Yin Yi Bo spoke. "You better leave now before you're going to be late."

"Mmm... I know." Tang Shi Yi stood up again. "Yi Bo, thank you."

After saying a few more words to her son, Tang Shi Yi finally left the house.

Tang Chen stood at the door and waved to his mother until he could no longer see her. Then, he walked over to the living room again and picked up his book.

The little boy wanted to pretend as if Yin Yi Bo did not exist.

His mother reminded him to stay at home obediently. As long as he did not cause trouble, he would be fine.

Actually, Tang Chen did not think that he needed Uncle Yin to accompany him at home.

Tang Chen felt that he was already a big boy. He know how to look after himself even if his mother was not around.

"Chen Chen." Yin Yi Bo crouched down in front of Tang Chen and watched him as he read his book.

The young boy's legs were too short. Half of his legs were hanging as he sat on the sofa.

"Chen Chen?" Yin Yi Bo called again, seeing that the young boy was not planning to answer him.

This was not the first time that Yin Yi Bo cam to Tang Shi Yi's apartment to look after this boy. Each time that he came over, Tang Chen would always try to ignore him.

He looked at the book in Tang Chen's hand and chuckled. "You do know that you are reading your book upside down?"

The young boy tightened his grip on the book. His lips pursed into a thin line. Tang Chen was annoyed that Yin Yi Bo had caught him in the act.

"Uncle Yin, you are wrong," Tang Chen pouted. "I did not make any mistake. I'm learning to read a book upside down."

Yin Yi Bo laughed. "Alright. Chen Chen is the most amazing."

Tang Chen lowered the book in his hand. "Uncle Yin, stop calling me Chen Chen. Only my family members are allowed to call me Chen Chen."

The corner of Yin Yi Bo's lips began to twitch.

Tang Chen did not make it a secret that he did not like him.

"Chen Chen—"

Yin Yi Bo chuckled when Tang Chen glared at him.

Tang Chen might think that his glare was fierce, however, Yin Yi Bo thought that the look on Tang Chen's face was too adorable. He wanted to pinch him on the cheek, but Yin Yi Bo knew that it will only make Tang Chen dislike him a little more.

"Tang Chen." There was a helpless smile on Yin Yi Bo's face. He wanted to tease the boy a little more. "We have known each other for a long time. Why are you still cold to me?"

The little boy finally put down the book in his hand. "Uncle Yin, I think we can get along very well if you are not going after my mother. "

Yin Yi Bo coughed. "You... what are you saying?"

"I heard it from my grandmother before," Tang Chen said. "Uncle Yin, you wanted to be mine and Xiao Xiao's father."

Yin Yi Bo touched the tip of his nose as he was feeling awkward. He always knew that Tang Chen was a smart boy. However, he did not expect that Tang Chen would be very smart.

"You worried too much," Yin Yi Bo chuckled. "Your mother is not interested in me."

"Then, that's good."

Yin Yi Bo almost choked on his saliva. "Even without me, there is still Uncle Quan. Tang Chen, do you like him to be your father?"

"No. I don't like him either."

"Tang Chen, you are quite picky." Yin Yi Bo wondered why was he having this conversation with this little boy.

He wondered if Tang Chen was going to make his mother stay a single mother forever.
