40 A Better Match

Unconsciously, his arms tighten around Sab silently telling her not to be afraid and that he would protect her. "Am I not providing you enough that you still have to work here?" Tom asked after some time.

Sab had already adjusted her mood. However, she doesn't know how to face the situation and acted a little. Hearing his comment made her feel distressed. "No, it's enough it's enough. I was just bored staying at home doing nothing. It's been two days, so I accepted this part-time job."

"Should I send to you Buddhism Temple and pray to give you luck?" He teased.

"I'm that not unlucky, okay!" She pouted. "It was the drunken man was unlucky for meeting you here. "

Sab silence unsure on how to rebut. It was true she gets into trouble these days and this man always clean up the mess. Even in the office, she knows that he is trying to protect her from other women that's why he always insists on her to get into his office.

This way, she will have less contact with the other women who keep making things difficult. When he is not around, he would send her to do a task that would require less contact with the others.

Sab was supposed to explain herself when the door suddenly opened and a middle-aged woman charged in with the two other women same of her age, all of them are holding a wooden stick. They shouted and swayed their wooden stick at the same time as they charged in them.

They were both shocked. Sab immediately shouted after regaining her senses as she tried to stop them, but Tom already covered his body on hers and received few beatings. Tom thought that the old women are there to make trouble as well and automatically protected Sab.

"No… no…. no…. Aunties, please don't beat him. He helps me... He helps me..." She anxiously shouted trying to free herself.

The group suddenly stops and looked at each other. Looking at the man hugging Sab, they all looked puzzled and admired a little the man who helped and protected their employee. From the side, he looks very handsome.

However, their mind already set on someone else, so they also felt a little unhappy as well.

"Aigoo… sorry… sorry… we thought you are trying to take advantage Sab that's why we had hit you. Sometimes, there is some shameless man who gives trouble to us that's why we were always ready when it happens.

"You should have told us earlier, so we hadn't hit you," said by the other aunties.

Tom was fuming inside and did not say anything. No one had laid a finger on him but because of his stupid and unlucky little wife, he experienced being beaten for the first time. Nonetheless, he is a little appreciative to the three aunties for showing concerns on his little wife.

"Do you know each other? Is he your boyfriend?" Auntie Joy the youngest from the three looked at the two in doubts.

Sab looked at Tom in pain, feeling sorry. "No, Auntie. He is just an acquaintance who passed by."

Tom's face looked darker hearing her answer without a bit of hesitation. An acquaintance who passed by. He felt extremely irritated at the word acquaintance.

"Are you sure? Why is he hugging you?" She scanned the man again from head to toe and look at Sab doubting.

Sab blushed. She explained briefly why she ended up in his arms and the three elders smile widens. Though the man in front looks not bad, in their heart, someone more fit to Sab than him.

"That's good… that's good then… My nephew will be coming back next week from abroad. He decided to work here for good now. Do you remember him? He is only 2 years older than you but very mature and playful at the same time. He is also very smart. You too will be a great match," Amelia deliberately said these in front of the man afraid that he would steal their future daughter in law.

Sab had been working with them for a few years now and have supported her like a family. At first, she pitted the young lady because of her family and situation but then, she can see that this young lady has a very good temperament and a kind person. Anyone who would take her as a wife will surely not suffer or not be at loss.

She's young but very sensible, hand working and knows how to take responsibility. She believes that this woman will be a great support to her husband to be and be successful one day. She hopes that this young lady can be a little more playful to live a more colourful youthful years before she really ages.

Their family might be considered a little successful in the city, but they have all age enough and know that great background is not good enough to lead a successful and happy life. Even if you have money, if the one by your side is an eyesore, it would mean nothing and will only give disaster to the family.

That's why it was easy for them to accept Sab and hope that she will be part of their family truly. She just hopes that this young lady can be a little more playful to live a more colourful youthful years before she really ages.

Sab felt guiltier and evade to look at Tom's direction. She knows that these aunties were only concern about her future that's why they had been encouraging her not to have a boyfriend soon and wait for their nephew. "Auntie… I already have a boyfriend."

"Huh... why?? I told you to meet my nephew first. Did you just a relationship? But that's okay, you can still meet my nephew and dump your boyfriend if you find him better. My nephew is not bad at all and very handsome. You both are really a better match."

"Hah!!" Tom can't help to scoff hearing the old lady's comment. He shoots an accusing look at Sab.

The three middle age women looked at Tom straight face. They are unable to read his expression, so they turn to Sab again.

"You are very young and might not know much about men. There a lot of men who dressed like a sheep but an evil wolf inside. Can you give our nephew a chance? Just meet him once. You'll surely find him better. Okay?"

"I can also vouch, that Ryan is a good kid and very handsome. You'll surely like him," the other two aunties chimed in and even raised their hands trying to convince her.

Sab was crying inside. She's truly dead. How can these aunties describe her husband so accurately and be heard by the evil wolf himself?

"Auntie you have injured my friend. I take him to the hospital. I'll give you update later," she then grabs the man beside and walks out of the store.

"Oh yeah… yeah… take him now and we'll take care of things here. Go… go… go…" she suddenly remembers. She was very occupied playing cupid for her nephew and Sab that she had forgotten what happened.

Sab looked at purple marks at the back of Tom and it looks painful. She was even hesitant to touch as she puts some ointment on it.

She wanted initially to take him to the hospital, but she was forcedly dragged back home. She was aware that the man is unhappy but ignored it. His injury is more important than anything right now. "Does it hurt?" her tone was full of worries.

She had injured herself previously a number of times but take it as if nothing. However, when Tom was involved, she seems to forget everything. Her heart aches and unable to conceal the anxiety she is feeling.

Tom seems to enjoy the gentle look of Sab. He was truly angry especially upon learning that someone trying to set-up his wife to another man. If he hadn't been there, he might have never learned about it.

Worst due to being soft-hearted, she might agree on the aunties he just met a while ago and this really drives him mad. He wanted to pounce his wife immediately until she begs him to stop. However, seeing the worries from Sab's crystal-clear eyes, his mood elated as if something tickled inside him.

"Wifey, this is your fault. You need to compensate me. Hmm…?"
