Time went on. Both of them improved and were able to assist Tilly with more jobs. Vera wished that Casey could come to antique conferences with them but was sure to take plenty of pictures to show him when they got back. 

"It feels wrong not having him here. He's your apprentice too," Vera grumbled.

Her aunt squeezed her hand. "I know, V. But you know how things are for Casey. We aren't approved by the state so we can't have him stay overnight anywhere with us without a foster parent present."

"That's so stupid though! We're more his family than the Hills are!" 

"The Hills are doing their best. They have a lot of kids in the house and most of them are needier than Casey."

"So what? He needs love too!" 

"And he gets it from us. I wish he was here too but he's okay. You don't have to worry about him. Why don't you try to find a souvenir you think he'd like while we're here? I'm sure he'd enjoy that," Tilly suggested.
