29 I Have To Prepare For The Future

Casey made it to graduation by the skin of his teeth but couldn't relax just yet. He had pushed the issue of the farmhouse aside during college because he was so much more stressed than he thought he would be but the time had come to deal with it. 

He wanted to marry Vera after she graduated and he would need money for a house of their own so they didn't have to keep living in this dinky little studio indefinitely. His inheritance had largely been used to cover the parts of his tuition that the scholarship hadn't and living expenses since he wasn't getting paid much at the shop. 

Kane thought he was nuts. 'You hate the farmhouse. Why are you doing this to yourself?'

'I have to prepare for the future.'

'Whatever. Just keep me posted about what you're doing so I can take over if necessary.'
