2 Transmigrating Into Another Person's Body

'It hurts… When am I going to get out of this hellhole?'

Madison tried to make sense of the environment but the darkness surrounding her was making her unable to see what was in front of her.

Suddenly, a blinding light pervaded her sight and she had to squint her eyes to lessen the pain the light brought to her.

Sensing the warm touch of light on her body, she couldn't stop her feet from moving forward as if she was being led by the light.

Madison didn't believe it when someone from the organization almost died and woke up a few months later and told them that they saw the tunnel of light. But now, she might have to believe them even if she didn't want to. After all, what else was this light for?

After walking that felt like forever, she could see the light getting brighter and wider; it almost devoured the darkness she was in just earlier.

But instead of seeing the Yellow River where dead souls cross over in front of her, she saw the two headlights of a car moving closer towards her.

Seeing the car speeding towards her, Madison twisted her body and felt an incredulous amount of pain from her legs, and looked down. Her feet were bounded and from the blood marks on her feet and legs, it didn't look like she chose to wake up in the middle of an unknown road.

Where was she? Madison wondered.

She wanted to look around and understand the situation she was currently in, but the fast-moving car that was speeding towards her made it impossible for her to stay on the ground and accept death.

With great effort and ignoring the pain she was feeling in her body, Madison twisted her body and rolled on the ground several times, and hid behind the handrail before the car could even hit her.

"What the hell! If you want to suicide, go somewhere where you can't bother someone else!" The driver looked out of his window and hollered at her. His voice faltered when he was already far in the distance with his car.

Madison stared blankly at the driver with a narrowed eyes.

Who said she wanted to kill herself? This lunatic –

"Urgh!" As soon as she had the thought of not wanting to kill herself, unfamiliar images started to surge inside her head like a storm.

The amount of information from the memories and images that were pouring into her mind almost made her lose her consciousness along with the pain she was feeling in her body.

She gasped for air and grabbed the handrail till the tips of her fingers started to turn white. What was happening? What are these images inside her head? Was it her memories? But she couldn't possibly have experienced all this since she could still remember who she was before she died.

Then, what?

With her hand on the handrail, her other hand gripped her hair tightly; almost ripping some of her hair. When a handful of strands of hair fell beside her cheeks, Madison finally stopped feeling the pain from her head as she stared at it.

What's this? Where's her red hair? Why is it black?

Thousands of questions entered her mind, but after the information surging inside her was finished relaying all that happened in the previous years until the moment she woke up in the middle of a road, Madison could finally understand what happened.

No… This is impossible!

This can't happen.

As much as she wanted to believe that all of this was a dream, the reality was already laid down in front of her.

She has transmigrated to another person's body.

From the memories of this body, Madison learned that the previous owner's name was Maddie. She was a spy from a small group of lawless people. Born in a tiny village with no parents and siblings, Maddie was similar to a lone wolf.

Maddie survived on her own but the world was too cruel for a young child like her. And thus, that's where her foster father comes in. He trained her with the way of knives, how to steal and to never trust anyone. However, Maddie only learned how to steal and the other two were something she was unable of doing because of her principles.

The previous owner disdained killings and her views were quite different from what a common lawless person would think. She was more close to being a normal person than someone who belongs to the Underworld.

But Madison didn't want to linger on the previous owner's past. She wanted to know how the hell she ended up bounded and bloodied in the middle of the street.

Searching through the memories of the previous host, Madison finally saw what she was looking for, and it happened just an hour ago.

Apparently, Maddie was out on a mission to steal an important document from a politician. She was ordered by the leader of the group of lawless people she was in that she must complete this mission and return as soon as possible even if she returned empty-handed.

However, Maddie wanted to prove herself useful and didn't listen to their leader, and that leads her to what happened to her. Because she was too confident with herself, she ended up captured.

Thankfully, before her capturer could get back to her and start torturing her for answers, she stole one of the guards' keys and let herself out with her feet tied up.

Madison glanced up and found where Maddie fell. She was currently lying on one side of the mountain road. Above was the wall of the mountain and she was sure that on top of it was the place where the previous host fell. It was probably the private property of the person who captured her.

As she was staring above her, the drizzle came and landed on her body.

'Beep! Beep!'

The car horns sounded and were followed by some people calling.

"Maddie! Where are you?"

"Damn it! Is she dead?"

Knowing whom these voices belonged to, Madison crawled out behind the handrail and saw the car driving slowly, but closer to where she was.

"I'm here!" She answered their calls with a hoarse voice.
