The Last Day

Mila tapped Elena on the shoulder and asked, "Are you still going to the Jinlu Complex tonight?"

Elena frowned, "No! Why would I go back there? My relationship with Lu Chenjun is finally over. My stuff is still in this car, so I'll drive this car back to the apartment. I'll meet you there."

Mila nodded and walked away. If their relationship was over now, does that mean Elena would agree to go to Japan?

Mila helped Elena carry all of her luggage into the elevator and up to their room. When they finished, it was already half-past seven.

Mila jumped up in shock when she saw the time shown on the clock, and she quickly ran over to the television and opened it.

As she was finding the station, Mila muttered under her breath, "I'm late, I'm late. The episode started fifteen minutes ago."

Elena silently shook her head as she rolled her suitcases into her bedroom. She pulled out her charger and plugged it into her phone.

After lunch, her phone ran out of battery, and she was left with nothing to do during her rest times.

The power came back and Elena realized that she got another notification from Lu Chenjun.

She rolled her eyes and pressed her lips together. Why was he still texting her if they were going to break up?

Elena read the message and became even more annoyed.

'Tomorrow at 7 P.M., let's eat together at the Zuanji Steakhouse. Count it as a farewell dinner.'

Farewell dinner? Elena scoffed but still agreed to the request. It was just one more dinner, one more free dinner.

'Ok'.

Elena changed into her pajamas and threw herself onto the bed. She closed her eyes and slammed her head down onto the soft bed sheet several times.

She flipped around so she was lying on her back and she stared blankly at the ceiling. Her first relationship was just going to end like this. . .

---

The next morning, Elena didn't wake up to her alarm clock or to the rays of sunlight coming in through her window.

Instead, she woke up to. . .

'BOOM!'

Elena abruptly sat up straight on her bed and looked around nervously. Her eyes narrowed as she saw Mila standing at her door, holding a confetti popper.

"What are you doing?" Elena said through clenched teeth.

There were still five minutes until her alarm should have gone off, so she lost 300 seconds of her precious sleep time.

Mila rushed over and sat down on the bed, which was topped with a pile of rainbow-colored confetti.

"You're done! Today is the last day of filming, and you can say bye-bye to Hua Luo!"

Elena rubbed her eyes and frowned. She was the type of person to get sad when something ends. Even when she finishes reading a book or watching a drama, she ends up thinking about it for several days.

Although Hua Luo wasn't a good character, Elena still enjoyed being her and acting like her.

Elena lifted her blanket up and she climbed off the bed.

"You have to clean up the confetti."

Mila pushed her lips out and stood up. She picked up a small piece of confetti and played around with it through her fingers.

Elena walked out of the closet in new clothes and entered her bathroom, "What are you still doing here? Where did you even get the confetti popper?"

Mila immediately put on a wronged expression and complained, "I spent 10 yuan from my own precious money to purchase this, and you didn't even give me any good reaction. I demand a refund. . . from you!"

Elena put down her toothbrush and said with toothpaste still in her mouth, "Clean it up."

Mila quickly ran away with the excuse of being late if she wasted her time cleaning up the confetti.

Elena smiled and dabbed her mouth with a towel.

---

After eating breakfast, Mila and Elena drove together to the warehouse. Elena didn't have many scenes to film as she finished most of them the previous day.

Her last scene was scheduled at 4 P.M., and after that, she was finished!

The security guard happily waved at Elena and Mila when they walked into the warehouse. Elena handed her bag over to Mila, and she went to go find the director.

Everyone was in a good mood today as this project was almost finished. After today, only Su Yan and Zhang Bing had scenes left.

In less than a week, the drama would be broadcasted on the big screen. The press conference was scheduled to be after the first episode gets released.

Based on her company's plan, Elena was to attend the press conference before leaving for Japan.

As the second female lead, Elena had an important role in the film. Plus, attending the press conference would allow more people to get to know Elena.

The director patted Elena on the shoulder and said, "Today is the last day for you. Do well today and you will be done! Hurry and go get ready. We will be starting in about 20 minutes."

Elena nodded and walked over to her changing room, saying hello to Zhang Bing on the way.

--- 7 hours later

The crew was running late, and Elena began filming her last scene at 4:30. The last scene didn't require a lot of skill, and Elena passed it in one go.

"Cut. . . and you are finished!" Director Xin took off his headphones and began clapping. The other workers and actors joined in to applaud for Elena.

Elena politely bowed and said 'Thank you' although her voice was buried under the sound of the applause.

Suddenly, Zhang Bing appeared in front of Elena and he handed her a bouquet of flowers.

"Congratulations, Yinghui!" The cheering and the clapping were slowly dying down, and the crew was getting ready to film the next scene.

"Thank you, Zhang Bing."

Elena took over the flowers with both hands and excused herself to go thank the director. She walked over and smiled.

"Hello, Director Xin."

Director Xin pressed his lips together and patted Elena on the back, "Yinghui, you did a great job. I hope I get to work with you again in the future. You have talent in the acting field and I wish you the best of luck in your career."

Elena almost broke into tears, but she controlled her emotions.

"Thank you, Director Xin."

Director Xin patted her back one more time before turning away to speak to the other actors.

Elena took a deep breath and turned around to go change clothes. She sniffed at the flowers and smiled with her head down, causing her to bump into a person.

"Sorry." Elena looked up and smiled when she saw Zhang Bing.

"Thank you for the flowers."

"You're wel-welcome." Zhang Bing stuttered, his face turning slightly pink. This reminded Elena of the time when Zhang Bing asked her out to lunch.

Elena laughed and decided to take the initiative, "Do you have something to tell me?"

Zhang Bing looked up and a sparkle of confidence quickly passed through his eyes, "Can you come out with me real quick? I have something to tell you."
