16 Oops Let's Try Again

"Who made this food? It's horrible."

Mila took a sip of the congee and also spit it out before swallowing it.

"Whichever shop this food comes from deserves to close down."

Elena took one more bite and spit it out. She stood up and opened the fridge.

"Where did the grounded beef I bought go?"

Mila also stood up and went to the fridge.

"I never eat raw meat, so don't look at me like that."

As Elena flipped through the fridge, she found a note stuck onto one of the containers.

'I made breakfast. Eat it. - Lu Chenjun'

Elena laughed at his short and direct message and passed the note to Mila.

Mila read the note and exclaimed, "Mr. Lu made that bowl of congee. To be honest, I'm not really surprised. It tastes disgusting."

Elena laughed and said, "Let's order takeout."

As she went to go reach for her phone, Elena smiled. She had never thought that the one to come and make her breakfast when she had a fever would be Lu Chenjun.

Elena froze as she grabbed her phone.

"Wait a second. How did Lu Chenjun enter our room?"

Mila turned around, looking just as startled as Elena was.

"I didn't give him the keys." Mila put both hands up and quickly walked away.

After eating breakfast, the day went by quickly. Elena slept, studied the script, and played on her phone. She was feeling much better, and she felt bad about not going to film today.

The next day, Elena and Mila woke up at 7 A.M. Filming started at 9 that day, and the location was at the warehouse.

When they arrived, Director Xin immediately ran over to greet them.

"Are you feeling better, Jin Yinghui?"

Elena smiled and nodded. "Everything is okay. Thank you for your concern."

Mila and Elena left to go get ready. They had done their makeup beforehand, and Elena sat in a corner studying her script.

They were filming Scene 70, 65, and 24. Elena had a part in Scene 70 and 24. Scene 70 was mainly an action scene. Lin Xijin slapped Hua Luo, who had attempted to drug Qin Lichen's food.

As Elena was looking through her lines, Zhang Bing sat down next to her. She turned to look at him.

Zhang Bing smiled, and asked, "Where were you yesterday?"

"I wasn't feeling really well. I'm okay now."

Zhang Bing nodded and pulled out his script along with an ice pack.

"Take this," he said, handing the ice pack over to Elena. "You're going to need it."

Elena raised her eyebrows and received the ice pack with both hands.

"It isn't really hot. Why would I need it?"

Zhang Bing smiled at her and stood up.

"Good luck today."

Elena frowned at his words and turned the ice pack over in her hands. She stood up as the director called for everyone to get into position. Elena gave the ice pack to Mila and walked over.

"Everyone here? We will start with Scene 70. Su Yan, you will slap Jin Yinghui in this scene. This scene takes place after Hua Luo tries to drug Lichen's food, and Lin Xijin finds out. Su Yan, we will be using the angle of the camera, so don't actually slap Yinghui. Does everyone understand?

Elena nodded and Su Yan smiled. She had been waiting for this scene. Did Jin Yinghui really think that she would get away that easily after stealing her boyfriend?

"Original Sweet, Scene 70, Take 1. Action."

Lu Chenjun closed his eyes as he leaned back against his chair. He had done something stupid yesterday. He had left Elena's apartment at 1 A.M. in the morning after multiple attempts to figure out how to make steamed buns and congee. After returning to his house, he had spent another two hours finishing the work he hadn't finished when he left.

He was extremely tired now and wanted to eat food made by Jin Yinghui. He opened his eyes and checked his watch. It was 9:05 A.M. He grabbed his phone and strode out the door.

"Fang Shi. Get the car ready. We're going to the Original Sweet filming location."

Fang Shi sat there in shock for a second, before rushing to the elevator. Last time, he had to beg and persuade Mr. Lu to go visit the set. Mr. Lu had never requested himself to go visit a set of any film they were sponsoring. Fang Shi ran all the way from the elevator to the car and drove it out to the front of the building. Mr. Lu marched out of the building just as Fang Shi opened the backseat door for him.

In the warehouse, Su Yan's eyes were boiling with rage. She wasn't acting anymore. Since the first day of filming, she hadn't liked Jin Yinghui. Now, she finally had her chance to take revenge. She raised one eyebrow and brought her hand down.

Elena was ready to turn her head over right when Su Yan's hand swung past her face. She had practiced with Mila and knew exactly when she had to turn her head for it to look real. However, it wasn't necessary. As Su Yan brought her hand down, Elena felt a burning pain on her left cheek. She closed her eyes and clenched her teeth together.

Elena was surprised that Su Yan had actually slapped her, and forgot to react. The director was also surprised.

"Cut! Cut! Cut! Miss Su Yan, what happened."

Su Yan sighed and turned over to Director Xin while massaging her wrist.

"Director Xin, I don't think stage slapping works. I'm supposed to be very mad right now, and if I have to perfectly miss her face, I won't be able to stay in the scene. For any other film, I always do the real thing. To be a professional actress, you have to endure the pain. Am I right, Miss Jin Yinghui?"

Elena looked up at Su Yan, her eyes filled with rage. The pain hadn't subsided yet.

She put on a fake smile and nodded, "Absolutely. If I want to grow in this industry, I should get used to real acting. Let's just do the real thing, Director Xin."

Of course Director Xin wanted the real thing. He had planned for it to be real, but after the CEO of the LIQuan Company, Lu Chenjun, called, he had changed the plan. However, if Jin Yinghui agreed, he wouldn't reject her offer. He nodded before telling everyone to get back into position.

"Original Sweet, Scene 70, Take 2. Action."

Elena brushed her hair back and glared at Su Yan.

"Hua Luo, why would you do this? Why? I hate you!"

Su Yan lifted her hand higher this time, and when she brought her hand down, the pain was even stronger.

"Oh no! I'm sorry Director, I accidentally added in another line. I thought I had to say 'I hate you.' Let's do this again."

Elena knew what Su Yan was doing. She didn't know why Su Yan hated her so much, but she was using the same strategy she had used for the swimming pool scene. Elena knew she couldn't complain as Su Yan was definitely more famous and had more power than her. She told herself that the pain would go away.

The makeup artist rushed over and added another layer of foundation. Elena gritted her teeth in pain as the makeup artist tapped the cushion onto her left cheek.

"Original Sweet, Scene 70, Take 3. Action."

"Jin Yinghui, why did you do this? Why?"

Again, another shock of pain spread throughout Elena's left cheek. Su Yan put one hand to her mouth as she pretended to be surprised.

"Sorry. I'm really not in the zone right now. I accidentally sad her real name. It should be Hua Luo, not Jin Yinghui. Let's try again."

Mila had left to go retrieve the cold pack Elena had given her earlier. She met Zhang Bing while she was doing so, and Zhang Bing gave her another one.

"Yinghui will need more than one." He smiled at Mila and walked away.

Mila tilted her head to the right. Why was Zhang Bing so nice to Elena? She quickly grabbed the ice pack and left.

"Here you go. Put this ice pack on your left cheek."

Elena nodded and gently placed the ice pack against her cheek.

"Director, can't you tell Elena to hurry up. Everyone is waiting for her." Su Yan complained impatiently.

The director sighed and said, "Elena, let's try again."

Elena nodded and gave the ice pack back to Mila.

"Original Sweet, Scene 7, Take 4. Action."

"Hua Luo, why did you do this? Why?"

Elena closed her eyes as she prepared to receive another slap on her left cheek. However, she didn't feel any pain on her left cheek. Instead, she felt Su Yan's hand hit her right cheek, and immediately after, Su Yan gasped.

"Oh my! I'm so dumb. I used the wrong hand. I'm so sorry. Let's try again."

The director slammed his hand on the table.

"Su Yan. What is wrong with you?"

Lu Chenjun had been watching this scene all along, and he felt a burning sensation in his chest. He walked forward, his eyes flaming with anger. Just as he was about to call the director, Elena spoke up.

"Director, I have a suggestion."

Director Xin raised his eyebrows and motioned for her to go on.

"Since Miss Su Yan isn't in the zone to act right now, I can help her. How about we switch roles for one take?"

Director Xin widened his eyes in shock. He knew that if he agreed, Miss Su Yan might refuse to film anymore. He was about to reject when a voice spoke behind him.

"I like this suggestion."
