86 How to Get a Wife (6)

Director Liu raised one eyebrow and eyed them suspiciously. Elena tilted her head to glower at Lu Chenjun and he returned her with a smile.

"Don't listen to him, Director Liu. I'm dating no one at this time."

Director Liu smiled fakely and turned to look at Lu Chenjun, "Director Lu, may I ask why you are here?"

When Lu Chenjun looked at Director Liu, his eyes were rigid and cold.

"I'm here to support my future wife." Liu Xingyi wished so much that the future wife Lu Chenjun was talking about would be her. However, she knew it wasn't.

Liu Xingyi's gaze quickly landed on Elena and a flash of hatred quickly appeared and disappeared. Elena didn't notice, but Lu Chenjun's quick senses caught sight of Liu Xingyi's inner feelings. His eyebrows slightly furrowed, but he didn't say anything about it.

Liu Xingyi could easily notice that Lu Chenjun treated Jin Yinghui differently. He even said that Jin Yinghui was his future wife! Why? She met him first and she fell in love with him first.

Liu Xingyi was not a simple woman. The film directing industry was also complicated, and she was definitely smart and manipulative enough to be able to survive and thrive in the industry.

She was confident that she would be able to win Lu Chenjun's interest.

Director Liu stood up from her chair and said, "Let's start filming." She walked away without waiting for Elena's reply.

Elena also stood up and looked at Lu Chenjun once before walking away. That one look was supposed to express her annoyance, but Lu Chenjun understood it differently.

'She looked at me!' He thought happily and a smile crept up his face.

He stood up and turned towards Fang Shi, "Let's go."

---

The next day, Lu Chenjun showed up at the set the same time as yesterday. When he arrived, Elena was changing costumes inside the room and the crew was on a short break.

Director Liu immediately caught sight of Lu Chenjun and she quickly ran over.

"Hello, Director Lu. You're here again."

Lu Chenjun looked down coldly at her and didn't respond.

Liu Xingyi awkwardly cleared her throat and said, "Do you want to go out for a drink together later today?"

"No," Lu Chenjun replied.

Liu Xingyi hasn't been rejected in a long time and she wasn't really used to it. She coquettishly let her hair down and hugged herself with her arms, "It's getting cold, right?"

It was November already, and the temperature was beginning to decrease. Lu Chenjun ignored her but Liu Xingyi's courage increased even more.

She moved closer to him and her arm brushed past him, "Staying closer together will make it warmer."

Lu Chenjun's face darkened and he pushed her away harshly, "I am not cold."

Liu Xingyi stumbled from the shove and fell down onto the cold floor. Just then, Elena walked out of the changing room and Lu Chenjun's face immediately lit up.

"Yinghui!" Lu Chenjun exclaimed as he waved one hand at her.

Elena looked over and saw Director Liu laying on the floor. She ran over and helped her up, "Are you okay?"

Liu Xingyi stepped away and gently swiped the part of her arm Elena touched like brushing off dust.

Elena raised one eyebrow and shrugged. Looks like Director Liu isn't as amazing as she seems. . .

She looked at Lu Chenjun and saw that he was pouting, looking like a wronged puppy.

"What is your problem?"

Lu Chenjun looked sadly at Elena and crossed his arms. He had canceled off a meeting with another company to come and see Elena, and she ignored him right away!

Lu Chenjun's heart became stuffy and he needed to find a way to punish Elena. He smiled mischievously before stretching out his long arm.

With one swift pull, Elena fell into his embrace. His other arm wrapped around Elena's tiny waist and he closed his eyes, gently resting his chin on top of Elena's head.

Elena scrunched her hands up into fists and softly hit Lu Chenjun on the chest, "Let me go."

Lu Chenjun didn't forget to plant a kiss on her head before letting her go.

Elena glared at him dangerously before walking away to go do her makeup.

Almost every single day, Lu Chenjun would visit the set at the same time with the excuse of checking the progress as the biggest sponsor.

However, he never checked the progress, and instead followed Elena around wherever she went. When he was too busy and couldn't visit, he would text Elena and apologize several times.

The people who suffered the most because of this were Lu Chenjun's workers. Lu Chenjun spent almost two hours every day at a movie set, so his workers had much more work to do. They didn't dare complain, but they all secretly wished their lady boss wasn't an actress.

About two weeks later, Lu Chenjun came to the set once again. Elena had just finished her last scene before a short break, and she was fanning herself with her hand.

The temperature wasn't high, but the constant activity and heavy costumes made it very stuffy and hot.

Lu Chenjun surprised her from behind and pecked her lightly on the cheek.

Elena frowned as she wiped her cheek with her hand, "Don't do that."

Lu Chenjun nodded but they both knew he was going to do it again the next time he came.

"Are you hot?" Lu Chenjun noticed Elena's slightly sweaty forehead and immediately pulled out a fan. He handed it to her and she opened it up to the highest setting.

By now, Lu Chenjun was a well-experienced "assistant". He knew exactly what snacks Elena liked and what she didn't like.

He pulled out a bag of spicy chips and opened it before handing it to Elena. She smiled as a way to express her gratitude and immediately began eating. Filming historical films was harder than modern ones for sure.

Elena studied her script as she ate and Lu Chenjun watched her quietly. After two years of separation, Lu Chenjun appreciated every single second they had together.

Elena finished the bag and crumpled it up, playing around with it like a ball. Suddenly, a voice caused Elena to lift her head up.

The actress for another concubine in the film walked over. She was a young girl in her early 20s and her overall look was extremely innocent and gentle. Her role in the film was also like her in real life; harmless and naive.

"Hello, Jin Yinghui," she said politely.

Elena smiled back at her and asked, "Is it my turn to film?"

The girl shook her head slightly and handed Elena a bottle of iced coffee, "My assistant accidentally bought an extra one. You just finished filming so you must be hot. I was wondering if you want it."

Elena wasn't actually thirsty after drinking Lu Chenjun's iced tea, but out of courtesy, she accepted it.

"Thank you, Zhao Liruo."

The girl smiled and turned around to leave. Elena opened the bottle of coffee and took a sip. It wasn't bad.

Lu Chenjun's smile disappeared again as he muttered to himself, "I have iced coffee too!"
