04. Mother' return and The Reunion

And so the next day, they look the cage with the hawk inside and went to the field. There, they opened the cage door and walked away from the cage. Metsu's mother saw that the door was open and she stuck he head out. She wondered if it was a trick of some kind but then quickly realized that the people had walked away. She knew it was time. She hopped out of the cage on to the ground outside and walked a few steps. She flapped her wings and realized that there was no more pain and that she was completely healed. Then with a great flap she rose up into the air, free at last. She circled around the field once and then like a lighting bolt she started flying straight back to her nest.

Over the fields and roads she flew, beating her wings frantically, as she knew she was getting nearer to her family. Suddenly with her excellent eyes, she saw the tree that her nest was in and flew even faster. As she swooped down onto the nest, she saw Metsu and her Aunt.

"Mother" cried Metsu and hugged her mother for the first time in months. Metsu's aunt held tears in her eyes as she watched the happy reunion. She hugged them both and then said.

"Your husband is out looking for your while I watch over Metsu. He comes back every night and will back soon. Just wait here and he will come to you. Since you are back, you can watch over Metsu, I will go back to my nest for I miss my husband and want to be with him."

Metsu's mother replied, "Thank you so much for watchhing my daughter, she is so big now, you must have fed her very well. Go now to your husband, I will wait for for mine."

Metsu's aunt gave Metsu a big hug and as she started to rise up in the air,

she said to Metsu.

"Remember what I told you about Red Tailed Hawk. We are the proudest of birds and never give up on each other."

With those parting words, she flapped away.

Then Metsu's mother flew high up into the hair above the nest and started circling and circling looking for Metsu's father. After a few hours, as the sun was starting to go down, she saw him lapping towards his nest. He saw her over the nest and first thought it was Metsu's aunt. Then as he got nearer he noticed the she was flying straight for him and recognized her has his beloved wife. Without saying a word, the two of them flew straight for each other and started circling around and around as they flew higher and higher into the sky. Their wings brushed against other as they flew in tight circles.

And all Metsu's father could say was, "I knew you would come back"

To wich Metsu's mother replied, " I knew you would be waiting."
