20 Elijah’s POV 2: Dirty secrets and corrupt politics.

"Damn it! I told you to remove any article with her in it!"

I throw the piece of gossip article onto the floor in rage as I continue to scold Robert for the second time this week.

The first time I managed to break my unbreakable phone.

"Forgive me, Prince Elijah, this image seems to have just emerged. Not a single journal company had hold of this image last night."

He tries giving me his pathetic excuses but I wasn't having any of it. If an expert like him wasn't capable of doing this simple task then who was.

"Kole! That bastard again!"

"It seems so."

Robert answers me with his head hanging low.

"Find the company that went against me and run them out of business!"

I order him and as always he quickly follows my order.

That bastard was ruining all my plans.

It's not enough causing all these scandals with multiple ladies and now he wants to add a bigger one to his list.

He chose the wrong girl this time and I will be keeping watch.

"Once you're done inform Kole to come see me."

I tell Robert and head towards my office.

*

Yes, it's true.

I have the perfect life.

I'm rich, not just rich I'm crazy wealthy.

I was born with a diamond spoon.

But I learned early on, wealth isn't equivalent to love.

My father's obsession with power and my mother's obsession with the throne.

I can have any woman but I don't want them.

Hayley is all I need but I can't have her till I become more powerful than I already am now.

*

I sit in my large chair inside my office before scanning through all my unfinished piles of folders.

Ever since being exposed to the dirty secrets and corrupt politics within the royal family, I have been working my ass off.

Five years ago I chased my 2nd Uncle's family to dirt and I was foolish enough to think that was the end of it. There were even more powerful forces waiting for me to make the slightest mistake and my weakness to surface.

Dirty family secrets that almost threatened our whole country but I will stay quiet till I can bring the truth to light.

Nothing can go unseen by me.

I changed my ways, I'm not that carefree prince anymore. Everything I do requires me to take countless amounts of calculative plannings.

I left the Palace in the capital city and brought my own mansion here.

I built my own office, I created multiple billion-dollar businesses and I built connections.

Connections that made both me and my country stronger than ever before.

I don't take breaks nor do I give myself a weekend.

The faster I remove these obstacles, the faster I can be with Hayley.

Till then, I am ready to remove any pests that even dreams of latching onto her.

It just so happens to be my very own little brother but dealing with him will be easy.

"Job Done."

Robert comes up behind me and soon enough all the investors immediately start backing out of that company.

"Good," I say as my mood lifts up.

"Take care of these folders and inform me if you run into any difficulties," I tell him as I stand up to walk away.

He looks at me in shock and blinks a couple of times. His expressions are full of fear.

That was expected, I never let anyone handle these files without myself being present.

All these files contain my business deals and future project plans. I do not plan to leak any of this sensitive information.

I don't trust anyone with them but Robert is loyal.

And my judgment is never wrong.

Till now and I plan to keep it that way.

"You finally trust me enough to let me handle them alone," Robert says looking at me with his puppy dog eyes, as him I was his most precious treasure

"Don't give yourself too much credit. I've already handled the important ones." I tell him.

I recruited him due to his exceptional skills and knowledge.

He was previously a secret agent trained under the royal family but due to his rough behaviour he had been kicked out.

He may look gentle but when need be he is a, what one would describe "Wolf in sheep's clothing."

He can be a ruthless being and during his secret agent days, not a single prisoner he captured could stay without blurting out the whole truth.

But he lost it all and I helped him up.

Since then he treats me like some divine being, which I find disturbing at times but he is my most trusted right-hand man for the past four years.

Now he is a changed man.

The perfect butler.

Not even a single trace of his past self, it only comes out when it's needed.

"Are you going to your favourite place?"

I nod and leave him behind to complete my work for the first time.

Usually, I would've finished all my work by now but due to the article, I was held back.

Another reason I had to deal with it as soon as possible.

I jump onto my black Lamborghini and drive to my favourite place.

After about 15 minutes I arrive and just like every other Sunday I park it by the curb and look at her.

The little orphans flock around her, each fighting for her attention.

I look at her amused as I wait for her to do the thing she always does.

One by one she hugs them back and whispers in each of the kids' ears.

At this very moment, I want nothing more than to be one of those lucky kids that get to hear her sweet voice.

She smiles at them while captivating all their attention.

She looks absolutely angelic but at the same time a perfect fit to be the next Queen.

A Queen who loves her subject and whom the subjects love back.

I watch her for a whole hour.

She runs around with them, plays games, and tells them stories which I wish I could hear from all the way here.

Just like every other week she takes out the chocolates from her bag and gives it to the hundreds of kids.

After the outside activity is done, they enter the residence of orphans, along with all the other caretakers.

I dial Robert's phone from my contact and he quickly picks it up after two rings.

"Donate 1M to Heart Orphanage under Hayley's name," I tell him over the phone.

"I will get it done immediately." He answers.

I end our short call and start up my car.

I then head back home with a huge piece of myself taken by Hayley as always.

To keep her safe, I must be ruthless.

Only then can I defeat my enemies.

But what's important now is to differentiate between my Friend and Foe.

My Family or Foe.
