16 Are you lying to me?

"I am the girl from last night," Rebecca said and handed over the note.

From where I was hiding, I could see prince Kole giving her a puzzled look after reading through the note.

"So, a maid turned Cinderella, huh?" Sky said with a hint of mock.

"So! What if I am." Rebecca replied sarcastically.

Their eyes remained in a heated battle before prince Kole divided them.

"Looks like the show has begun."

A playful voice sounded behind me, almost making me trip over the golden tree statue. He gave me his soft smile before mouthing "sorry" and joined me with spying on the three people.

"Did you finish your work, Mr. Robert?"

"Yes, it just took a little longer than planned." He replied, and we both carried on spying.

*

Rebecca nervously stood in front of the two powerful men and waited for their reaction. After what seemed like a whole hour had passed, prince Kole finally gave a comical smile.

"Would you join me for another dance, my lady?"

"I..ah..no. I can't."

"Why is that?"

"I think I broke my ankle just now." Rebecca gave her lame excuse.

I palmed my face thinking no one would be gullible enough to believe that, but never had I been this wrong.

He quickly led her to the nearest chair before calling a few maids over and asked for the first aid kit.

The hotel maids quickly supplied him with the first aid box, and just as quickly, he bent down before her.

Through all this, Rebecca remained still in her stop without moving an inch and didn't waver her gaze off of prince Kole.

"So my mysterious lady, which ankle?" He kindly asked and lent his left hand.

"My right...I mean, my left.." She answered hastily and to which prince Kole gave a light chuckle.

"Should I assume you hurt both of your ankles?"

"Yes, I seem to have." She replied more confidently this time.

He then took off her heels and gently started rubbing the ointment onto both her ankles.

"I never knew he was such a gentleman," I quietly say to Robert, and he nods in agreement.

No wonder girls flocked all over him, I mean just this simple action of his would make any girl fall for him. I'm not saying I would because just like how one cannot judge a book by its cover, one cannot judge a man by his one simple action.

But if it were back then, I would've fallen for this.

Once he was done treating her fake broken ankle, he asked for a dance again, but this time, she didn't refuse.

The first song we danced on last night started playing in the background, and soon, the two of them moved to the rhythm.

They looked beautiful together, and their steps were entirely in sync with one another as if they had been dance partners for a long time.

Everyone around stopped what they were doing and watched.

I, too, watched the two in awe, and in my bewilderment, I hadn't noticed one particular gaze on me.

The uncomfortable feeling bugged me, and so I turned my head to the left.

Sky was staring at both me and Robert sitting in very close proximity, I quickly shifted my gaze and ignored him as I pretended to clean the statue.

I unconsciously moved a little further from Robert and cleared my throat.

He seemed to notice my uncomfort, and he too moved a little away from me.

Their dance soon finished, and they both walked back to the sofa filled area.

"You dance beautifully." He gave a slight peak on the back of Rebecca's left hand.

"But I don't recall you being such a good dancer last night."

"I practiced at home."

"And your hair colour seems to have changed overnight."

He commented again, amused at her reaction.

"I dyed my hair this morning." She replied with a nervous laugh.

I held my breath as I watched the pair, hoping our cover won't get blown.

"Not as thin as a stick anymore." He spoke with his right forefinger tapping his head.

"Ah, I ate a lot before coming here..haha.."

"Sounds believable, since I did find you near the food table last night. Am I right?" He commented again, clearly enjoying this.

"You do know the consequences of deceiving the prince, right?" Sky finally spoke with a hidden threat in his voice.

"Are you lying to me?" Prince Kole asked this time. His voice was gentle, yet his aura was powerful.

Rebecca didn't answer them, and she stood frozen in her spot. I moved forward towards the three people, but Robert caught my hand and held me back.

"Look" He pointed to my right, a man with a camera was hiding behind the large flower vase capturing every moment.

"How did the paparazzi get inside?!" I asked in shock.

"Let me handle this." Robert quickly punched a few numbers onto his phone, and straight away, the hidden cameraman was escorted away by few guards.

*

While the two people were busy dealing with the unwelcomed paparazzi, both Prince Kole and Sky had long ago seen them hiding behind the tree statue.

Not just this, but their whole encounter had been observed by the two.

*

"Guards, take this miss away for questioning." Prince Kole ordered the guards around them.

"I would like to know what she did to the real lady from last night. If you don't come clean now, you might even be jailed."

Through all this, Sky remained quiet, letting prince Kole do as he pleased and just stood watch.

The guards closed in on Rebecca as she started panicking.

"Wait! Don't take her."
