Annual function day

Days passed and annual functiom day came.The day when they were to take oath and they were to be announced Head girl and Head boy of the school.

The whole school was decorated beautifully with flowers,ribbons and baloons.

The programm was to start at 4:00 pm in evening and was to end at 8:00 pm at night. But the preparations had started since morning, since it was the Golden jublee annual function of the school and therefore several celebrities were invited for the function.

All the participants and volunteers were alloted two separate rooms.Jenny and Mike, along with their two classmates were to handle all the junior volunteers.

So the time came ,slowly all the guests started coming to the venue and the hostess started hosting the function,it started with the welcoming speech for the guests then a song and then came their turn for taking their oath for head girl and head boy.

They were standing side by side but at a distance ,with a microphone in front and with a pamplet in their one hand,ready to take the oath .

First ,Jenny , repeated the words after the chief guest and, took her oath,which was then followed by Mike .As the oath was taken by them ,their classmates cheered for them .And as they were thanked to leave the stage,Jenny hurried back to the alloted room and sighed in relief ,her face was red in nervousness.

Leaned back on the wall,she closed her eyes lowered her head and tried to overcome her nervousness.In that same state she opened her eyes, and saw a hand holding a cup of coffee,just infront of her,she directed her sight ,towards the person holding it, and to her surprise it was Mike, leaned on his back on the wall,with another cup of coffee in his hand,which was defenitely for him.

She asked hesitantly -"Is this coffee for me?"

Mike-"No....,For the person on your left"

He said this mockinly with no expression on his face .

So she She looked on her left, but there was no one.

Mike -"Did you see anyone?"

He asked mockingly with a slight curve on his lips .

Jenny - "No...."

Replied in embarassement when saw him mocking her on her stupidity.

Mike - "Then it is for you"

Jenny was happy ,because it was her first conversation with him.

Jenny took the coffee and they both had thier coffee together.There was a silence ,while they had their coffee,no one spoke anything ,further.

After finishing their coffee ,Jenny disposed their cups and when she returned in the room, Mike was already gone.Seeing that ,Jenny also got back to fullfill the responsibilities which she had ,as a volunteer for that day.

The Show ended at 8:00 pm . All the guests departed gradually ,and later ,all the participants and volunteers were treated.When others were having meal,she searched for Mike but could not find him and got to leave ,when her father came to pick her.

While returning to her home,she was flooded with thoughts -

"why did he brought coffee for me? Does he feel something for me",

"And left abruptly ,i did not even get a chance to thank him.",

"I had not seen him ,when others were having their meal, we could probably had our first meal together !"

As this thought ran across her mind , she was grinning in happiness, unknowingly.

Since that day Jenny got few more moments to be with Mike, and even tried to confess to him , but could not make it, sometimes, either because of their teacher's call for some work for prparations , or their friends inturruption. Poor Jenny.
