16 Melody’s ordeal

Chapter 16

After the call from detective Bella. Clark and Damien left for the hospital. I sat on the hospital bed feeling so impatient, several times I was tempted to call Clark to enquire about the culprit's identity but mum kept telling me to calm down.

Damien and Clark has been gone for an hour now yet I haven't gotten any response from them. I picked up my cellphone and dialed Clark's number but he wasn't answering his phone,I felt frustrated after few times of attempts and decided to call Damien

I reluctantly dialed his number.

"Hello is everything okay?can you give the phone to Clark I've been trying his number for a while but he isn't responding " I said as firm as possible.

"Seraphine, listen carefully you may be surprised at what I'm about to say now but promise me you wouldn't take it to heart" Damien said.

"Okay..." I replied expecting him to complete what he was about to say.

"We think your assailant is Melody" He said. I couldn't believe my ears,was I dreaming? Why would Melody want me dead? Why would she want to hurt me.....

Hello? Hello? I heard Damien's voice echo as I dropped the phone.

Ever since I heard the news I couldn't keep calm,Mother and everyone kept assuring me that everything would be fine.

Damien came back an hour later without Clark. He must've probably left because he's ashamed of what Melody did .

"Clark isn't with you?" I questioned as soon as he entered the room. He looked displeased at my question but still replied

" He left the station as soon as the driver confessed"

"Driver confessed?"I asked and then it all made sense. Apparently the driver taking me along a so called 'shortcut', the car suddenly developing fault as well was all planned by the driver and Melody.

According to Damien,he said Melody gave him a huge amount of money to get me into the forest but he said he doesn't know she wanted to harm him and that he fled the village because he heard I was attacked and he knew he would be questioned by the police if caught.

The driver was however caught on a boat to the city last night.

"Melody is still on the run" Damien said making my peace disappear once again. What if she tries to hurt me again,what if she's successful in the next attempt?

Damien sensed the tension in the air and said "The police would be here to protect you till she's put behind bars" he said which made me feel better. He continued and said " I'd never let any harm near you for any reason,you just have to trust me" .For some reason his eyes felt like he was pleading.

I ignored him and silently prayed that Melody would be caught and then an idea came what if fate is trying to bring I and Clark together once and for all. When Melody is behind bars I'd have a chance to get paired with Clark after I demand for a second selection. Isn't the timing perfect?

Melody's Pov

That wrench she must be busy enjoying time with Clark in the hospital now. I should have kind her once and for all, how dare she take Clark away from me.

I remember those days in community high when Clark would sit with me in class and through out the duration of the class I'd keep staring at his face,without him knowing.

His bright and beautiful smile could melt a heart as hard as stone, his eyes that sparkle like stars whenever his happy. They all make me feel butterflies in my stomach.

I was in love with him for a long time but everything changed when that witch got transferred to community high.

She took away my Clark,he stopped sitting close to me and started sitting next to her. I hated her for that and was waiting for a moment to make her pay for taking him away.

My joy knew no bounds when I got paired with Clark, all my prayers had been answered. I got the man of my dreams and that loser got a bully. Almost everyone in community high heard of how she was bullied by Damien.

I got Clark but his heart was with her,he would talk about her everytime. Praising her for doing this,or that. I couldn't bear it anymore I had to do something and I had to do it quick.

I conspired with her driver and planned on how I'd be able to be with her alone in the woods. He left her in the wood lost and called me.

I came face to face with her after years and gave her my judgement with the knife. It was fun watching her shrieking and cry out!, I bet the pain must've been excruciating.

I never thought that hurting her would make Clark go closer to her. My Clark would come home tired after catering for her needs at the hospital. He wouldn't even have dinner before going to bed.

"This is not what I planned" I thought.

The next day Clark left as early as possible to go see her completely ignorant of the fact that I was on the bed shivering. Although he sleeps on the couch while I sleep on the bed,but he didn't even check on me before leaving.

I couldn't bear losing Clark to her,I then thought of a plan. An awful one at that,one that'll make no one suspicious. I would inject snake venom into her. No one had ever survived it. I was sure of my plan.
