1 The Vacation Time.

I was just getting off work on a Wednesday, when my boss approached me as I was getting my purse out of my locker. I work at Disney-Planet, in Florida, as a typical cashier at one of the many gift shops. Nothing important. Although sometimes, once or twice a week, I get to dress up as Bella and go do meet and greets with park visitors. That's my favorite part of my job! Then sometimes, also once or twice a week, I get to dress up as one of the costume mascots at Disney-Planet and do meet and greets as well. Yesterday I was dressed in a dog costume. It was VERY HOT in there!

This IS summertime in FLORIDA after all! Yikes! I hate the heat! Sometimes I wish I could move up north a bit, but not too far or it would get too cold for me too. Maybe around North Carolina or Tennessee. They probably have decent temperatures around the year. I can handle some cold and add more layers, but the heat is too much for me here. I am a modest person, I don't want to walk around in my bathingsuit to get a break from the heat. lol.

Anyway, maybe one day if I can financially afford it I will move up north a bit. Right now I still live with my parents. They LOVE the beach... Me not so much. It is okay don't get me wrong, it's just not my thing.

I don't like the saltwater smell so much, and always have to bath after going to the beach, or on a boat. I am also a small bit worried about sharks, jellyfish, sting-rays, and crabs in the ocean. My sister was attacked by both a jellyfish and a sting-ray at different times in her life, although I was never hurt by any of the sea life, I am still weary of it. I hear stories of shark attacks every few years and crabs love to pinch people... That does NOT sound fun to me.

And playing in the sand is no longer so much fun for me... I get sand in places I DON'T want it, and have to wash it out of EVERY nook and cranny of my body when I go home. I am also not too excited about swimming in the seawater. If I want to swim, I would prefer a freshwater lake or water park! I love nature though, so I prefer forests and mountains over the beach anyday!

My parents would NEVER move away from the beach. They live about an hour and a half from Disney-Planet, in a super small city on the beach, most of my stuff is at their house. I currently stay with my older brother at his house 30 minutes from my work at Disney-Planet. I live from a suitcase. Once a week I go home to my parents house and wash my clothes and repack.

It is hard to live like this, but with no college experience, and no way to financially afford college, or to afford ever paying back a college loan... My brother is 17 years older than me and I am already 23 and he only just managed to pay all his college loans off... He still has a mortgage on his house too, but he is also recently divorced, and he has a masters degree in computer science. He doesn't have any kids. Well, one day I hope to find something I really love doing for a career, but I STILL don't know what that would be.😓

Anyway, I have drifted off topic a bit, huh. Sorry for that. So my name is Leia... That's right, my family is HUGE Star Wars fans! lol.

My older brother is named Mark. And my older sister is named Carrie, she is 6 years older than me. She is married and has 3 kids. The oldest: 9 year old Luke, the middle child: the girl, 7 year old Padme, and the youngest, 5 year old Ben. Her husband is also a huge Star Wars fan. lol. He fits right in with our family.

"There you are, off in your own little world again!" My manager says and I realize I was thinking to myself too long.

"Sorry. Was there something you needed Manager Sally?" I ask politely.

"You have been working here for almost a year now, your vacation time will disappear if you don't use it before your year is up. You have one month left. Christmas just passed, New Years Eve is tomorrow... I thought for sure you would use it around now, but no. You have 2 weeks to use up. What will you do?" She reminded me nicely.

"I will use it, of course! I want to request time off today actually. I will take a vacation 2 weeks from now, for two weeks straight. I saved up some money the last year, and also when I worked at Pub-dixi Grocery Store as a bagger and cashier for 4 years before I worked here. I plan to go to a city in North Carolina. I want to see the beautiful landscape of the forests and mountains it has to offer while I am there. I am going to use the computer and request it now, please excuse me." I respond to her.

"Oh! Okay, then. Go right ahead! I will be enjoying my break for the next hour, but I will look it up and accept it latter. I hope you enjoy your vacation, have fun!" She tells me and walks away.

I walk to the computer and log in to my work account to request time off. Then I go back to my brothers house for the evening. I got off work earlier than others today. I plan to make my vacation plans today. Other than the hotel, plane ticket, and car rental, which I already did a couple days ago. What I want to do when I am there, I have yet to decide on.
