10 Where The Loyalties Lay

Leaving Daisy's room, we begin the daily tasks such as; open the drapes, change out the flowers, dust the shelves, clean the fire places and clean the windows. Once we have done most the days chores.

"Knittin I'm hungry" Daisy says

"Let's go cook some food and I will take food and some pie we made up to the Lord" I say heading to the kitchen.

"My Lord really trust you so much doesn't he" She says

"I have worked hard to show my trust and loyalty to my lord" I say back remembering when I first started.

FLASH BACK: I was a young woman at the age of 20 and I still had spunk, I would not always listen or do what I was told until one day the lord had gotten mad at me, and I never wanted to see that side of him again. It was just that year after I started working for the Lord that we lost Lady Shelly, but I also lost my husband and daughters do to the betrayal of my lord's brother. The duke Azriel my Lords brother had killed my family trying to force me to betray the Lord when I refused, he killed them shortly after that is when he took Shelly and she didn't come back.

"He's lucky he has such a wonderful person like you by his side" Daisy says pulling me back from my memories.

"Well thank you I just wish I could do more to help him," I tell her admitting the truth I want to help him so much more than I can.

"I am sure you help him plenty" Daisy says to reassure me as I make up the lords tray of food.

"Let's make a pork roast and potatoes for dinner" I suggested to make today special to help with the pain and loss surrounding this time of year.

"I don't really like pork but that sounds good" Daisy says with a billion watt smile on her face. Just then we hear glass shattering outside.

"Knittin did you hear that?" Daisy asks shocked and a little frightened

"What was that? You go check outside I'm going to check on my Lord" I say as I head to the study where he should be at this time.

"Alright" she says as she runs outside to see if she can see anything. I run up to the lord's study, and bang on the door.

"Lord Terminus are you OK let me in" I scream at the door as I try the handle it is locked.

The lord holds a man by his shirt-collar and yells. "Tell me!"

The man glared at the Lord. "Did you ever think that Shelly deserved a second chance to love, when you helped my brother?" Daisy can hear the noise is above her. The commotion is on the balcony just off the study. I find the key and unlock the door.

"My lord" I scream as I rush into the study.

"She never loved you, you disgust brat " the lord yells at the man

"Tell me this .... would she have loved to see this scene where I brutally end your pathetic life?" Terminus says menacing. Reaching the scene "my lord do not do anything you will regret" I say.

" Huh, go ahead kill me, I have nothing to lose my comrades are gone, thanks to you. We could have gotten Valeria with the lead of your brother. You had to fuck it up. And now, the woman who I loved that you stole is in the coffin while you are here ... breathing ... like an animal.... " The man says his voice laced with anger and hurt.

Daisy looks on in horror as the lord and the stranger are at each other's throats. Hearing this the Lord is so angry that he punched the man's nose, making him bleeding heavily.

"You better shut your mouth trader" I said noticing that he once worked at the manor. I step into his line of sight placing myself next to the lord as best I can.

The lord pulls him to the edge of the balcony and holds him by the collar.

"End this then ... you monster" the betrayer sees me "Well looky here, we have ourselves some company " The traitor says looking at me. I am glaring back at him I had heard there was a stableman who had fallen for Shelly but she only had eyes for Terminus.

"My Lord I am sorry to intrude but I was worried" I say not looking away or flinching.

My lord sees me but doesn't say a word.

"Go ahead, Lord Terminus end me and show your maid here who you truly are ...." he says smirking with his bloody nose.

"Do it then ... you are a monster, just like how you run this country .... this will truly prove my point" the traitor eggs on the lord. I take out the dagger the lord gave me and hold it to the trader's neck.

"I know who my Lord really is if my lord asks, I will end you myself" I say to the traitor without fear. I look at the lord and say, "what would you have me do as there is no need for you to sully your hands with his blood."

"What a loud mouth gir- " The lord pushes him away from the balcony and back towards the study, gives him a kick to the gut. The betrayer smirks at Knittin, knowing that he has a chance and rushes to the Lord, unfortunately the Lord knew what he is trying to do, and he pushes him off the balcony.

"Are you alright my Lord?" I ask, the Lord told me to take a rest while he went back to work.

Daisy saw the man fall from the balcony and was very frightened that she spent the rest of the day in her room. She was shaken and white as a sheet she said nothing. The guards and grounds keepers cleaned up the mess. There was no trace of what happened by morning everything looked as good as new.

Back in my room pondering if I had made the right choice to jump in, but I was so angered by the man trying to imply that the Lord was not truthful with his staff. I just could not hold myself back any more, I will take whatever punishment is coming my way for my actions. I fall asleep until morning, my sleep was not a restful as normal due to the worry of how I will be punished for my actions.
