we all look at the door with anticipation, waiting for the new student to walk in. The door opens and a light skinned, tall guy with mid length curly hair, wearing black sweatpants with a white T-shirt walks in front of the class. He looks at my direction with his hazelnut eyes and flashes a smileys the whole class. All the girls stare at him like some kind of food. He has his bag hanging off his shoulder.

“Hey, I’m Oscar.” He introduces himself. Haley just stares at him and not responding to the greeting but if we are being honest no one is actually responding.

“Okay, there is an empty chair behind next to Ava.” Mr Chandler say.

He walks to the seat behind and that’s when the chaos begins, the hushed whispers.

Haley taps my shoulder, catching my attention.

”He is cute.” She whispers.

”Then you date him.” I whisper back.

“You do know I can hear you.” Oscar whispers from right behind me, startling me. “Sorry didn’t mean to scare you.” He apologizes in a deep, raspy voice.

”It is alright.” I respond a low voice.

”Well I apologize about use talking about right in front of your face, next time I will do a better job at doing it behind your back.” Haley jokes, he chuckles at her.

“Ya maybe next time you won’t get caught.” He jokes back. She laughs in quietly.

“I will put that on note.” She responds. “By the way I’m Haley.” She introduces herself, pre usual her being the social butterfly. “And this is Ava.” She introduces me while pointing at me, well pre usual since I’m the anti social butterfly.

“Oscar, but you already know that since I was announced in front of the whole class.” He says in annoyance while rolling his eyes.

“Hey!” Mr Chandler shout catching everyone’s attention. “Quiet down, Haley.” He says.

“Sorry sir.” She says while we continue with the lesson.

Class has finished and now it’s breakfast time. I pack my bag, getting ready to leave.

“So Ava where do we eat breakfast?” Oscar asks.

“At the canteen.” Haley answers for me. This is how it has always been; Haley know I am not good with talking to strangers at all, I get nerves and I don’t like it. She knows me, I don’t like talking in general. I am mostly an observer and that why she tends to answer all my questions without me even asking.

“Okay.” He say in a low voice.

I put my bag over my shoulder and wait for Haley.

”I am going to the library.” I say in a low voice.

“To do what? It’s time to eat.” Haley says.

“To sleep. I’m tired.” I say in an annoyed voice while I roll my eyes.

“Okay and while you are at it dream about me.” She say while smiling at me sheepishly.

“Lol not in a million years.” I joke while I walk away.

“This is why you have no friends.” She jokes.

“But you are my friend.” I say while I walk out the door.

I walk down the halls to make it to the library. I pass my stepbrother and his crew of friends. We never really talk in school so it is pretty hard to even know that we are a family.

”Hey Mike isn’t that the girl you came with in the morning? Your sister?” I hear one of the say and I stop walking, wanting to hear his reaction.

“No, she is not my sister.” He says. I sigh but I’m not surprised, It is something normal. I continue to walk to library.

I sit in the library and pull out my sketch pad, paint, pencil, colors and a rubber. I mostly draw what I am feeling at the time and it is mostly depressing. Some times I would draw portraits of people I see in school.

Right now I am just going to draw an image I have had in my head for a while. It’s a girl listening to music and she just came from crying. She looks mad and sad at the same side, she has red eyes and she still has tears in her eyes. She has a bob haircut and pale skin with a red nose. This image has been in my head for days and I can’t wait to see the way it ends.

“Hey, Ava. Right?” I hear someone say from behind me, startling me. I look back and I see Oscar standing there with a smile. He moves to sit next to me. I just let because I and not the type to start fights. ”Cool drawing.” He say while staring at my sketch book.

“It is not finished yet.” I say bluntly while I continue to draw. I am not really the type to keep conversations. I can’t talk to people I just met. I am not really used to in at all. I really just can’t.

He is just sitting there while look at me and now I feel bad making him just stay here.

“You can go to Haley. I’m fine by myself.” I tell him while I still look at my book.

“Well I want to hangout with you.” He say while I roll my eyes.

“There is nothing interesting about me.” I tell him.

“From what I know most people who are quiet have the most in there minds and I feel like you have a lot to say.” He says. I turn to look at him.

“I literally have nothing to say and even if I did I wouldn’t tell you.” I say defensively.

“Okay calm down. I didn’t say I was going to kill. But why wouldn’t you tell me?” He ask.

“Because you just met today. We aren’t that close.” I say then the bell rings for classes. I grab my things to go to class and he stands up, he waits for me. “You can go ahead.” I tell him.

“I want us to walk to class together so that I can know you better.” He says while he waits for me. I feel this kind of feeling that I’m not used to but it makes me happy.
