2 Moonlight

Pouring tears of the mother glinted in the moonlight. The cries and howls of wolf's occasionally emerged in the background, as simultaneously thunderstruck, shaking the ground beneath the sprinting feet of the lady.

In her left arm, she held her 6-month-old baby Jake, slowly fading, and in her right, she fiercely held her sword, which was given to her from the Hunters Battalion. Lungs burning, mouth dry and legs aching, the desperate mother couldn't continue.

Wanderers- filthy creatures with long curved dirty nails, pointy teeth to pierce through human skin, a grey zombie-like face, a hovering trait, allowing them to travel over solid ground quickly and finally... an intent to kill humans for their own survival.

The mother's life flashed before her eyes. Her legs became as stiff as wood and her optimism vanished into the cold night air. She looked around desperately, tears filling her blue pupil eyes. A tree. The mother used up her final energy and trudged to the tree and nestled her only son in a tiny nest perched on one of the branches. Her heart ached with immense sadness and grief as she gave her baby her final kiss. The baby in return began to wail, attracting the surrounding Wanderers which immediately began to travel towards them.

"I love you my Jake." The mother said with a shaky voice. As she turned away, her heart exploded into pieces, already saddened by the fact it had to come to this.

Six months was all she had recieved to be with her child.

She held her sword upright, ready to die fighting at the minimum. But alas she was too exhausted and her first swing at an approaching Wanderer missed by far. An ear-piercing scream erupted into the night sky, as a Wanderer grabbed the woman from behind as it forced their long curly nails into the back of her neck. Blood leaked out of the wound like a fountain, as another Wanderer approaching at high speed from the front sank it's 8-inch front teeth into the lady's neck. The mother spent her last seconds glancing back to her beloved child, Jake, and he stared back with his brown eyes his hands waving frantically around as he lay in the little nest. She stared in pain, as he smiled back waving his hands in front of him. It was all over. She dropped to the ground with a thud and died in the next few seconds...
