1 Lost in the Stars

The boy sat there, still as a statue. He didn't move, he didn't speak, he just sat there, lost in his thoughts, staring out onto the horizon.

The stars of the night sky reflected in his dull, lifeless eyes, his lips curved into a slight frown. He waited.

A grey mist floated through the window, it moved almost like smoke. The boy smiled, what he long awaited had finally come. His dull, smokey grey eyes seemed to almost twinkle, and his face seemed to light up the dim room like a newly emerged star in the dark midnight sky.

The grey mist surrounded him, the smoke-like fog encasing him, he didn't cough, he didn't run, he just stood there, smiling, allowing it to enshroud him.

The mist lifted the boy up, completely enshrouding him in his smokey essence. He smiled, an unseen smile, his last smile. His long-awaited present had finally come.

The mist loosened, and all traces of the boy seized to exist. A newly formed star twinkled in the dark night sky. The only remains left of the boy was a star ring, engraved with the words:

'Lost in the Stars'
