18 Sudden Discoveries

"Huh, what do you mean?" I sputter back.

"Tell me everything."

Yuna doesn't seem to even react at my outburst.

"I'll have you know that I've heard many ridiculous and far-fetched things in my life. If you don't want to tell me now, that's fine."

I hesitate for a bit while Yuna looks up at the sky before turning over to me and giving a comforting glance.

"Do you promise to not think I'm crazy?" I stop midway.

"Yep." Yuna lifts up a hand as if to perform an oath, grinning playfully.

"Actually, it's better if you think I'm crazy..."

I notice my voice trail off and I force myself to regain focus. My mind was in mental debate as I questioned whether I should tell Yuna or not. Believe me, I want to be able to tell someone - anyone - about EVERYTHING I've just experienced. If not Seoyun, Dahyeong or Jun, who better than Yuna? I lift a hand to my head as I let out a mental sigh.

I'm telling Yuna.

"If you want to know anything, we'll have to start at the very beginning. Trust me, it's crazy, so buckle up."

With those words, Yuna immediately faces me to listen attentively.

"I was living a normal life right up until last night. When I went to bed that night, a had a really strange dream. I woke up the next day like everything was normal but I was sweating so much in that dream and when I took a shower, it felt different - it felt euphoric."

I look over to Yuna who was only carrying a gentle expression that told me to continue, so I did.

"I went to school that day to experience Seoyun and Jun acting like best buds, not to mention that Dahyeong apparently never existed in that dream. The end of that dream came when I was at the nurse's room lying on a bed. I woke up to this whole new world where there were plants on fire everywhere with creeks running through the trees. The stone statue in front of me started to turn to a human and she was apparently my great-great-grandmother."

"What was her name?" Yuna cuts me off.

"Minjeong if I remember correctly." I pause for a bit before continuing. "She told me that she chose me to solve an ongoing disharmony between two clans and that she gave me her power, making me an enlightened. When I asked her how to even start, she said that I should look no further than Jun and Seoyun."

Words fall out of my mouth like a waterfall and I don't seem to realize it untilI look right up at Yuna. Her face carries a thoughtful expressions as she purses her lips for a bit before responding.

"Can you keep a secret of mine as well?"

Yuna's face breaks into a playful smirk as she keeps her eyes glued to me.

"I'd like to believe that I don't have a blabbermouth."

"Look, I'm going to say this once so listen carefully. I'm also an enlightened and in fact, I am the great-great-granddaughter of a friend of Minjeong's who was also in Aquinnium. So don't worry, I'm technically on your side."

As soon as my ears glaze upon her confession, I jolt up straight and wide-eyed, taken aback. I rack my head just to make sure it's not April Fool's or something. Did I hear that correctly? Yuna seems to notice that I'm having a hard time digesting what she just said, though I can't tell if it's because my mouth is gaping.

"I've been sent to the land of the Regulars at the same school as Jun and Seoyun to resolve the war within the clans. Aquinnium, even after disbandment, has been trying to undo the beef between Ignus and Flores as per the leader's request, which is your great-great-grandmother."

Yuna fidgets a bit after telling me before calming herself down. As preposterous as her claim might be to the average person, it's less shocking once you experience everything for yourself. Maybe that's why I believe her right now and not necessarily because I want to believe her.

"It's good to know there's someone more experienced in this than I am that I can talk to." I answer honestly, nodding my head as if in response to what Yuna just said.

"I guess if you need someone to shed more light on the scenario we're working with, I can tell you everything that I know."

I vigorously shake my head up and down and ready myself for some much needed answers.

"Seoyun is the great-granddaughter of Minhyuk, the leader of Flores while Wonjun is the adopted son of Minyong, the leader of Ignus. They were pretty much sent to the land of the Regulars to find a prophesied 'saviour'. The thing is that they have their idea of who the saviour is and what they do wrong. They think they each have their own and that they will make them more powerful. I don't think they ever saw that you would be both their saviour's and that you'd reunite them."

"So that's why Seoyun and Jun hate each other so much..."

My voice trails off as I take in all this information. Now that I'm thinking about it, it makes a lot of sense. They just won't be able to get along because they can't and shouldn't, especially when their tasks become a competition to them. I ruffle my hair with both my hands and focus on the conversation at hand.

"Is there anyone else who's an enlightened in the school?" I ask out of curiousity.

"Not that I know of, though there could still be a chance." Yuna only shrugs before continuing. "Besides, if there is, they're not directly dealing with the affairs of Ignus, Flores and Aquinnium."

I nod my head in response. A silence quickly falls on us as we both gaze at the sky while still lying on the grass. Yuna bites at her cheeks before breaking the peace and quiet.

"So you have powers then, right?"

"Yep, water."

"That's the same as mine." Yuna rolls her head to her side and flashes me a grin. "Have you gotten the hang your powers yet? I can teach you if you want."

"I've tried, though help is always needed." I respond while letting out a small laugh. A smile makes its way to Yuna's face.

"I can teach you later today whenever you're available."

After thinking for some time, I finally reply.

"The evening should be fine-"

Before I can say anything else, the bell disrupts the conversation. Yuna hurries to her feet and I do the same, getting up while brushing any stray grass pieces off me. As Yuna begins walking back to the school building, she calls out to me.

"I'll see you then! Evening right?"

I hold a thumbs up to her and she hastily nods after seeing it before facing forward and dashing off to school.

I find it hard to absorb what just happened, though I know I don't need to anymore. Yuna is with me and is here to help me when I need it.

Honestly, what more could I ask for right now?
