Chapter Twenty Nine: "New Collaboration"

Aradia Smith.

The fact that Karla kept me awake during her conversation with Alex infuriates me. The words she has blurted out bounce around in my head and I start to question everything.

She knew it.

She knew what I was doing and still she let me out.

Honestly, I don't know whether to be angry with her or proud of her actions. The worst of all is that she continues to cry and I know very well that the pain in my chest that I feel is not mine, but hers.

"Karla."

Her footsteps stop and I feel her hands on our cheeks, wiping away her tears.

"Why?"

I decide to take control for a moment to tell us to a secluded place and where there is a reflective surface to be able to see each other.

"Why?"

"Yes, because you left me awake."

She sighs and I notice how by all means she tries not to look at our reflection so she has not to look me in the eye.

"Because I'm tired of lying."

"Yeah, I've heard your confession."
