43 Chapter :-43 Escape

Roar~....!

The smell of blood was intense, blue-colored blood was all over the place along with dismembered limbs of the monsters. The number of beasts attacking the witches was reduced to 5 under the relentless assault of Azik's spear.

The sharp blade coldly pierced every single one of them without a shred of mercy. Initially, about 30 beasts were attacking the non-combat witches. Azik, using his spear and [O' Agni] charm which Kite gave him, was able to slaughter them one by one.

Due to being a [Corpse Collector], he had high stamina, high body durability which allowed him to continuously wield his spear and dispatch the monsters one by one.

Whereas the charm giving by Kite was to swiftly take care of the Hybrids. [O' Agni] belonged to the Sun-pathway and had an exaggerated amount of purification power within it.

Out of the 30 demons, only three of them were hybrids while the others were just mobs. Whenever Azik felt like that the three of the hybrid were closing in, he would swiftly retreat while secretly planting the charms in the ground.

Azik was using the same technique he used when he fought against these monsters the first time, he converted his spirituality into a water-like tangible object and used it as a cover to secretly set up 'landmines'.

He then lured the monsters to step on the charms, causing an eye-blinding light to erupt from the ground they were standing on. Any soon as the Hybrid came in contact with the white light, its body started to burn and melt away.

The hybrids wailed and screamed yet only death could ease their pain. After persisting for some time, they died causing nearly all of the pressure on his shoulders to vanish.

Sure enough, once the three hybrids were killed by him, only the weak were left to deal with. He thrusts his spear and killed one in an instant.

The poor beast couldn't even utter a single sound before his eyes lost color and life slipped away from its body. The blue blood dripped from the carcass which lied coldly on the ground.

The 7-surviving witches were both grateful and caution of the newcomer, his power astonished them to a great extent as he continued to slaughter the beasts like cabbages.

"Sister Scroll, is he an [Awakened]?"

"Most probably.....but [Axion Church] doesn't have any church in the western part of the kingdom also the armor he is wearing doesn't belong to the church personnel. "

"He should be a rogue Awakened." Seeing the armor which Azik wore, they confirmed that he wasn't part of any church. Even though most of the [Awakened] were part of the [Axion church], some individuals liked to be free and without any restrains.

"Why is he helping us? As far as I remember, [Awakened] don't meddle in [Cross Church] affairs. He shouldn't be helping us after all no awakened would like to get in trouble because of us."

"We can think of this later, first let's help him kill these monsters and avenge our fallen sisters..." Most of the witches alive weren't combat type yet even then they could at least use the crossbows which they stole from the previous town and help the stranger.

"For our sisters...." shouted Leaf as she led them, loaded crossbows shot arrows at neck-breaking speed and pierced the monsters. The body was of beasts was very durably thus the arrows couldn't pierce deep.

Even so, their movements were restricted by the wounds inflicted by the crossbows. It became easier for Azik to slaughter the horde.

Roar~...!

The Roar shook the cave, Leaf stumbled backward and fell on the ground, she twisted her ankle over the rock and couldn't get up. A frown appeared on Azik's face as he left something closing in on his location, the sinister energy 'it' gave off was naturally felt by Azik.

He jumped back while swinging his spear in front of him. The black-colored water flowed forward and flowed the pathway from where the roar came.

Stabilizing himself, he tapped the ground beneath his feet with the bottom of the spear. The water which flooded the way started freezing and turned into ice.

'This should buy me some time.' he unequipped his spear and rushed towards Leaf.

Seeing the unknown Awakened rushing towards themselves, they panicked a little but didn't try to stop his advance. Azik knelt down on one knee and asked Leaf in a soft tone.

"Can you move...?"

"Ahh....." Leaf tried to move but immediately sat down after feeling the pain. Her skin had reddened very much, meaning that she wouldn't be able to move in a short amount of time.

His yellow eyes stared at her for a second, feeling his gaze Leaf felt nervous. The situation wasn't in her favor since she couldn't move anymore. She didn't want to be a burden to anyone yet also didn't want to die so soon.

Azik extended his arms and held Leaf within his hold before picking her up in a princess carry. Leaf was startled by Azik's sudden actions and left anxious yet she knew that currently there was nothing she could do after all she couldn't walk on her own for the time being.

Azik turned his face towards others and said in a serious tone, his yellow crystal eyes made them feel uneasy even the aura he gave off was slightly unsettling.

"Follow me and don't fall behind, that ice wouldn't be able to stop him for much time....."

"Huff Huff Huff.....Nightingale, we can't move like this, it will take us at least three days to get to [Border town]. You have already exhausted yourself and soon, I, myself will run out of stamina." A short figure could be seen carrying two figures on her back. Her body flew a few meters above the ground.

Yet the speed at which she moved forward was certainly fast. Beads of sweat rolled down her face as she barely held on and continued to move forward. On her back was an Unconscious Wendy who's ankle had turned blue in color, a sign of poison spreading inside her body and a pale-faced Nightingale who had apparently pushed herself too far and couldn't use her ability for a short amount of time.

During their escape, they met Lightning who apparently wanted to follow them back to the town and see all the things Nightingale told her were true or not.

Lightning is a young girl with fresh and neat short blonde hair.

In the Witch Cooperation Association, she preferred to wear trousers and a leather jacket full of pockets and patches. Around her waist was a belt, seemingly picked up from somewhere.

"We must not stop....!!! if we can make it to [Border Town] they Lord and Nana would be able to heal Wendy...."
