Chapter :-40 Evolved Ability

Inside the room, on the bed laid Anna, unconscious. Her body was dressed in a brown dress, nightingale changed her clothes for her while Nana took care of the "makeup".

It had been some time since she last saw Anna move, her body didn't show any signs of awakening even though Kite had already told them that it wouldn't be long before the sleeping princess would jolt awake but not literally jolt.

Her face was clear to see under the glow of daylight which illuminated her features through the window. Anna's skin had started growing rosier after she fell unconscious.

This was a clear sign that Anna had passed her [Adulthood] without as much as a problem. Her body was being strengthened by her magic which was continuously growing.

If before her magic was like a pool, now it resembled a large lake. If before her magic was in a gaseous form, now it had condensed into liquid water.

She could wake anytime now, Roland knew this thus he stayed with her, inside the room for the past few days. He wanted to see what changes will take effect after she wakes.

" Didn't he said that she would wake up soon.....?" asked Nightingale, she had started feeling a little impatient due to the fact that Anna had been sleeping for some time now.

Before Roland had any time to respond, he sensed movement from Anna's unconscious body. His head turned towards her face while Nightingale noticed this change.

The door was pushed open, a tall man wearing a white assassin uniform with his face covered by the hood entered. A beautiful sheathed sword hanged loosely from his waist.

"It about the time she walks up..." Kite spoke in a monotonous tone, his eyes hidden under the hood, gazed at the young girl on the bed.

All this time, other than taking care of Anna he also dissected the carcass of the dead beasts to understand their body structure and function.

He conducted this experiment in the castle basement since it was awfully convenient to do so, with all that space and silence.

The beasts were actually pseudo-magical creatures. As discussed previously, [Awakened] were a bunch of dangerous people with weird abilities and apparently one of these followers of [Axion Church] was in [Longsong stronghold].

The beasts were animals with a [Pseudo-magic core]. Magical beasts are similar to Witches as both of them have a [Magic core] to generate and store magic inside them.

This [Awakened] is able to create a pseudo-magic core, being that he can make any living thing into a magic entity. While this ability may seem too broken, Kite begs to differ.

From his research, he can conclude that the body of the animal had mutated due to the sudden presence of magic inside its body.

Meaning that the fake core would mutate the body of the bearer to due to the sudden presence of magic. Being that if this ability was used on humans, they would slowly die since they do not have the affinity for magic.

On witches or other similar creatures, this ability would be of no use since they already have a core.

Therefore the only one left who could actually be affected by this ability were the animals, the magic wouldn't be able to destroy their body structure which is leagues above humans.

But even that to had some drawbacks which Kite could conclude after dissecting the body.

First, due to the sudden presence of magic, their body will start to mutate. The body would change so that it could sustain the magic but the magic would corrode their minds thus destroying the intellect of the being.

Second, the process of mutation would be slow meaning that the animals would take a long time to fully mutate, about 4 months.

Third, since their intellect would have been destroyed they would need some other way to control the mindless beasts.

You could say that the ability was strong yet had many drawbacks. But it had one positive trait which made Kite cautious of the [Awakened].

The mutated animals would keep on becoming stronger and stronger until they reach the level of a hybrid demon. Though the time required would be at least 2 years for them to reach such a level.

Kite had chained the living beast inside the mausoleum where it could regain intellect after absorbing the [Extraordinary character] being released from the egg buried beneath the throne.

Kite would need to capture the [Awakened] as with his/her ability to create beast and Kite's ability to provide them with intellect could help him raise a small army of beasts.

If he is able to do so then he would have an army of beasts and attributed to the fact that he was a [Beast Tamer]. He would be able to control the beasts.

Back to Anna, her body showed signs of movement. Her eyelashes fluttered open, a weak pulse of magic waved out of her body and pulsed throughout the room, causing the candles to light up with green-colored flame.

Anna sat straight with Nightingale's assistance and opened her palm. A green-flame ignited on her palm, she looked towards Roland and motioned him to touch the flame.

Roland let out a smile and placed his finger in the flame. Cold..., the flame felt cold as it slowly started becoming warmer.

He drew back his hand while his smile widened, Anna manipulated the green flame and willed it to ignite on her other palm.

Roland looked towards Kite and nodded while Kite understood what he meant. A blue torrent of sparkles appeared in his eyes as the information appeared in his mind.

[Heart Fire' (Fire Manipulation): After reaching adulthood, Anna's ability increased in power. She can now turn her flames green, which can be hotter than ever before, or have a temperature as low as room temperature. She is also able to produce two flames at once.]

Roland used his [World above Gray fog] to establish a link between himself and Kite so that the latter can send all the information that he gained just now.

Kite send him the information about Anna's evolved ability while thinking to himself.

'A basic upgrade, boosted firepower, decrease in mana cost, decrease in stamina consumption.'

"I knew you could do it...." said Roland with a smile as he patted Anna's head, she in return just wordlessly looked at him.

Nightingale nearly jumped out if excitement as she mumbled to herself "She survived without a problem. This is a miracle, I must tell sisters about this...They would do anything for a save life."

She turned towards Roland and bowed deeply "Thank you His Highness if you wouldn't have shown faith in her maybe she wouldn't have made it through."

She turned towards the white-cloaked figure that had been standing near the door, quietly watching everything.

"I guess that You have found a way to help witches survive the [Adulthood] without any danger...??" she asked in a calm tone.

Both Roland and Anna focused on the conversation, one out of amusement while the other out of curiosity.

The white-cloaked man stayed silent for a couple of seconds before he replied in his monotonous tone "Indeed, I can tell you the way but it wouldn't make any difference as your sisters will still die."

Nightingale hearing this stayed silent of a couple of seconds before she knelt down on one knee with her dagger placed in front of her.

Her face held a determined expression, she was still wearing her assassin uniform.

"If Lord promises to save my sisters and provide them with a chance to live a beautiful life, then I, Nightingale pledge allegiance, I will be by your side for the rest of my life as long as you don't harm witches." she solemnly stared at Kite who just frowned.

"I don't need....."

Before he could finish his words, Roland interrupted him and spoke with a smile "Very well then, from now on you will serve him as your Lord while he will do what he had planned to do."

Roland wanted to stay hidden for as long as he could, but Nightingale who was apparently a lie detector and overly observant would be a headache for him.

He decided to bind Nightingale to Kite so that their plans could work smoothly. Kite and Azik were the individuals behind the scene while Roland was the face. He wouldn't allow a potential danger to be near him at all.

Kite looked at the smiling face of his friend, Roland and felt like punching him in the face but held himself back as he knew why he did so.

"Very well then, go and ask your sisters to come here. The castle has been renovated and the extra houses have been made for them to live in till I am able to change people's minds," said Roland will Nightingale nodded and left through phrasing through the wall.

Kite utilized his connection with the [Gray-fog] and sent Azik a message.

'Follow her.....its about time you ascend to the next level.'
