1 Prologue

A single man walked down a corridor that had stretched for what seemed to be miles— this man, in ragged clothing, was Dracedis Ralt. Previously city lord to the most prosperous trading city in the kingdom of Patriam, Dracedis had been very arrogant. This, however, changed quite recently.

Up until a moment ago, Dracedis was strolling into the king's throne room, happy that today he would get the promotion he longed for. Unfortunately, fate had other plans for him. Basileus, otherwise known as "king," crushed the plan Dracedis had, and he did it with simply one sentence.

"Dracedis Ralt... for bringing about a depression in the city of Caltar, I banish you from the Kingdom of Patriam!"

Dracedis's previously gleeful, dumb looking face had very quickly become distraught. However, he allowed the king to continue before things escalated.

"Your tyranny over the Kingdom's most prosperous city has led to numerous financial difficulties, I simply have no other choice but to banish you. However, as thanks for your service, I will gift you the city of Irae!"

The instant after Dracedis heard the word "gift" his face lit up, and the very next moment his Dracedis's entire being emitted an aura of death. Irae had been known as the most infamous city in the Kingdom of Patrium, barbarians, bandits, cannibals, and demons are said to lurk there. Managing such a place was surely the quickest and most painful way to die.

Knowing that the Kingdom had given up on him, Dracedis uttered a single sentence and left the king alone.

"Y-yes... my lord."

...

Having left the presence of the king and exited the royal castle, Dracedis was completely crushed. There was only a single thing that could help him escape his fate.

With a new determination about him, Dracedis ordered his personal coachmen to bring him back to the city of Caltar.

The ride to Caltar totalled half an hour, Dracedis had plenty of time to figure out his plans and decide what he was going to do after the uproar he is to cause.

...

Now back in Caltar, Dracedis is quickly walking in circles within his room. Suddenly, he stops. Turning to the side, Dracedis grabs the singular heirloom of his family— the Ralt Dagger.

The dagger's handle and guard were the most elegant shade of gold, with a blood red gem lying in the middle of it all. The blade had quite obviously been made from an incredibly powerful metal— most probably corundum.

Grasping the handle of the dagger, Dracedis turned his hand, along with the dagger, towards his chest, and firmly grasped the hand holding the dagger, with his other hand.

Thrusting the dagger towards himself, Dracedis only had the time for his brain to register a short thought, the one thought he had decided on ever since his body entered his personal carriage.

"Ah... the sweet release of death."

In that instant, Dracedis's muscular body collapsed upon the room in which he had watched many citizens suffer. His blonde hair lost its shape, and his azure blue eyes lost their color. All tightness within his limbs ceased, he was dead.

The most tyrannical city lord within the Kingdom of Patriam has been lost.

-Minutes after the death of Dracedis-

*Knock, Knock*

"Master, I am opening the door."

Words inaudible to the passed city lord had sounded from outside of the room he lay, their source being a young maid, who was known as Dracedis's favorite servant. With fantastical silver hair and contrasting green eyes combined with her milky white skin and consistently calm attitude, her allure allowed her to grab the spot of the lord's personal maid servant.

After the door opened with a creak, the maid's eyes opened wide at the sight of Dracedis.

"T-THE LORD HAS FALLEN!" she said, loud enough for the statement to resound within the entire castle of Caltar.

...

After the very anxious screams of the maid, many of the castle's servants gathered at Dracedis's quarters.

Everyone had looked dazed, each and every single one of these servants held Dracedis in high regard. In recent years, Dracedis has fallen from his original glory and become a tyrant, fueling his desires using tax money. However, those who serve him and kept close to him never experienced such harsh treatment.

"Get the royal doctor!"

"Someone find the castle's physician!"

"We need to take out the dagger!"

"That's the Ralt dagger!"

These, among many other assertions were made. However, only one of them was realized. Soon, someone entered the area.

"Make way! I am the castle's physician!" exclaimed a man garbed in white robes.

At the arrival of the physician, everyone in the room scattered, allowing him to get in contact with Dracedis.

The physician quickly felt Dracedis's pulse, and took note that all blood flow had stopped. Feeling powerless, the physician could only take the dagger out of the lord's body, quickly stop the bleeding, clean the wound, and wrap the lord in bandages.

Hoping for a miracle, the many attendants previously surrounding Dracedis have left him alone. Their only hope was that the gods would provide mercy, and allow the fallen lord to return in full power. They were so stressed that they didn't even care for why their lord had been impaled.

...

"H-huh...?"
