9 Taking a Commision

That same night, Alexander dressed up and put a mask on before leaving his house.

After further checking the golden card, he found an address written on the back of it.

He had already guessed that the headquarters of the organization shouldn't be a secret to most Beyonders in Backlund and decided to give it a try.

Half an hour later, Alexander found himself in front of a building that reminded him of an auction house.

The building was what one would describe as plain, with a simple entrance, a sign with the words Nemesis Order written on it and two windows on the second floor.

Alexander didn't know if it was because of the lack of light, but he wasn't able to see through the windows' glass.

Mustering his courage up and entering the building, Alexander felt as if he was moved to another space.

Instantly, he found himself in front of a wooden counter with a blonde young lady sitting behind it.

Alexander noticed that no matter how much he tried, he couldn't actually see her face.

Just as he was about to ask what was going on, the young lady interrupted his actions.

"Good evening, are you already member or do you want to sign up?", asked the young lady in a mechanical voice.

Through her voice and mannerisms, Alexander guessed that she was either a marionette or a Beyonder acting as a Puppet.

Of course, he didn't believe that a Demigod would work as a receptionist.

"I want to sign up.", he replied while calming down his nerves.

The lady had no reaction as she mechanically handed a piece of paper and a pen to him.

Alexander picked it up and found out that it was actually a form.

It seemed that it was mostly used for the identification of the Nemesis Order's members as the only column that needed to be filled was the codename, while everything else was optional.

The other columns included gender, Sequence, pathway etc. but Alexander was obviously not going to fill them.

After writing down the codename "Emperor", he returned the form to the young lady, who lightly looked at it before giving him a golden card.

The golden card was the same as the Folk of Rage's, with the only difference being that in the place of the word "RageStorm", the word "Emperor" was written.

At the same time, a catalogue appeared in front of him with word "Commissions" written with golden letters on the front page.

Reading the word, Alexander guessed that this should be the way that the members picked up requests.

Opening it up, multiple requests were written on each page, similar to Mr. A's gathering's blackboards.

What surprised Alexander though, was that the requests ranged from looking for Sequence 9 ingredients to assassinating Sequence 6 Beyonders.

Even, Alexander's intuition told him that these were not the only requests, but only the requests that he was currently allowed to accept.

Alexander didn't have any extraordinary materials in his possession, so he put his focus on the assassination requests.

Deciding that it would be best to look for the weakest possible enemy for his first mission, Alexander searched for an assassination request regarding Sequence 9 Beyonders.

After looking through the whole catalogue, two assassination requests caught his attention.

One was for a Seer and the other was for a Planter.

Weighting these options, Alexander decided to choose the Planter, as Beyonders of this pathway have possibly the worst combat power out of any pathway.

"I want to accept this commission", he said and pointed towards a page in a catalogue.

Instantly, the page disappeared and the young lady mechanically gave him a piece of paper with the information of the commission.

[Commission #146

Name: Martin Chester

Sequence: Sequence 9 Planter

Reward: All the spoils + One Sequence 9 Apothecary characteristic]

Alexander accepted the paper and gave the catalogue back before exiting the building.

Just as he stepped outside, the familiar feeling of moving in another space assaulted him and he found himself outside.

Taking a few steps and looking back at the building, Alexander recounted his experience.

"The whole building is most likely a Sealed Item made out of Door pathway's characteristics and moves each member to a different space."

"The young lady should either be an extraordinary item or part of the Sealed Item."

"Also, judging from the number and the content of the commissions, the president of Nemesis Order must at the very least have the strength of a Demigod.", he calmly analyzed.

While shocked by the means of Nemesis Order, Alexander was also happy.

The stronger the organization was, the less attention he would draw by assassinating some low-Sequence Beyonders.

This would mean that not only would he be able to find characteristics easier while getting paid for it, but he could also train his combat power and get more familiar with his abilities.

His only concern was that he couldn't explain was why such an organization was not mentioned in the original book.

His first thought was that there were also other real transmigrators like him, but his intuition told him that that isn't true.

Although he didn't trust his intuition competely, he could do nothing about it even if they were other transmigrators.
