1 End of an Era

The world was once filled with mana, overflowing if you will, so much so that no matter how much you use it will never run out, at least that was what we thought. But we where wrong as it eventually ran out, First to go where the planar paths from where all our resources came. Next where the elites, the apex mages and warriors who stood undefeated and undying for millennia, started to die one by one. Next where the beast and machines as the mana levels dropped high tiers beasts died and with their deaths subsequently our machines couldn't run and without the machines and mages we where defenseless. Last to fall where the other races who couldn't adapt to the new state of the world until we few humans where left. We live on through the Shelter Tower but one day it to will fail, with it the last of Noveria and its inhabitants with it.

Slam!!!

*sigh

A young man in his 20's gets up, after closing the book and sighing, then goes to the self on his right and slots the old and worn book into place.

The young man looks up at the massive library around him before waking towards the door and thinks to himself 'That's enough reading for one day I think.' Trying to be as optimistic as possible.

As the young man the young man opens the grand library doors and looks over the derelict and ruined city before him. Silently reliving the harsh and hellish desert that lay just outside the city walls. The young man walks down the library stairs, down the main street, down some ruined alleys before stopping before the front door of his house.

As he is about to open the door he hears a very distinct 'pop' noise and his face turns ashen. He looks up and behind him as he can see the swirling red, blue and purple maelstrom above, that is the nether storm, as it rapidly charges in and destroys all in its path killing people as they scream for help and cry their last tears. The once quiet and desolate city of Dawn disturbed by the chaos and death caused by the nether storm as it envelopes all in its path.

The chaos comes barreling forward toward the young man as he stares into the eye of the nether storm and says "May we meet again in the our next life Veronica."

...........

'Where am I?'

AAAARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!

Memories slowly play them selves back in the young mans mind.

'So My name is Ryan Carter. Same as the last time at least.'

Current status is that I am the seventh son of Micheal Rickson, banished from the Rickson house due to my mother leaving without saying anything when I was 5 and never came back. I have my personal maid from when I was still in my 'father's' clan as well as 20 000 gold left after my nights at the brothels and bars in this small town. Mage rank is apprentice mage at 9th rank. So all in all not as bad as it could be.

Now why am I still alive and why is the mana in the air so pure and abundant?

Lets just take this one step at a time. Lets establish some guidelines to follow and lets go from there.

'First become a mage.'

'Second the year and era.'

'Third what am I going to do in the future.'

Ryan slowly gets out of bed and walks or stumbles would be more appropriate term as he tries to get used to the new body and the bodies old injuries. Upon opening the blinds and letting the light enter the room, he sees farmers down below on carts, merchants in their stalls calling out to people, mercenaries and guards patrolling the streets.

'Now this proves this ain't home.'

Ryan turns around to see the door open to a maid walking in with a cart of food and new clothes.

She looks up to see Ryan and then she freezes with shock on her face and her hands trembling.

"Am I really that ugly?"
