2 Chapter 2

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

The loud, rhythmic thumps of his heart stirred him awake.

He grasped the sheets of his luxurious bed, creasing the neatly folded sheets that seemed to cleanly wrap around him.

The young man's features seemed timeless and ethereal.

He was otherworldly.

His eyelids fluttered as he opened his eyes, viewing an exceedingly large space that seemed to span for miles into the empty white void.

He laid on the only object noticeable within miles.

Leaning against the back of the bed as he sat up, he couldn't help but grasp his head in pain.

It was then he felt something slide down his arm as he held his head.

He was crying.

He then remembered the feeling of despair as these emotions washed over him.

"I'm... so, so, sorry."

His hoarse voice seemed to resound for miles in the boundless white void...

It was a voice of shame, a saying of shame, and yet, the owner of such a voice was aloft, timeless, and above all.

---

He knew for a long time that he was different.

While others struggled to cultivate past the Body Formation Realm, he had already begun to touch on the Concepts of Wind and Water, significantly increasing his combat power.

It wasn't clear yet to say he was a genius, for he knew that the continent spanned far and wide.

But for as long as he could remember, he crushed all of his foes with his own understandings of the Heavenly Laws.

A small village, a small city, a large city, a small country, a large country, a small continent, a large continent.

He was unmatched.

However, he was crushed when he ascended his world.

He stood fearless, as he faced his foes, completely unaware that those stronger than him did indeed exist.

He perished in dread.

This was his pride.

And his pride was useless.

---

A normal village girl like her should've never met a powerful cultivator like him.

He, a cultivator renowned across the continent, someone that could turn the clouds and skies with but a word, with a but hand.

They lived in different worlds.

But she was hopeful.

And hope gave her the drive to pursue her dreams of being with him.

---

When he met it, it was but a small beast. Abandoned, left to fend for itself in the wilds.

He knew it was a rare beast, that would grow up to be a strong, beautiful, and heavenly beast that could hold more power than he could possibly imagine.

So he raised it, raised it well.

Knowing that it would one day bring him to greater heights.

But through this process, he began to love it, and cherish it.

He no longer cared whether it would raise his status, for that was merely a side benefit.

The feelings of love for his dear beastly friend never faded as he lay broken and silenced on the battlefield.

This was his love.

And he died happy, protecting his loved one.

It was just unfortunate, that he couldn't continue to love that little beast, once more.

---

I looked on, anxious as I gazed across the three entrances.

What if I don't pass?

What if I don't get stronger?

What if I fail?

What if... that path to escape, would kill me?

What if...What if...What if...What if...What if...What if...What if...What if...What if...

What if... I don't make out of here alive...?

---

The young man who laid on his bed, enclosed within the endless white void gasped as he sat up.

Every time he went to sleep and reawakened, he felt different surges of emotions from the many people who have transferred their lives to him.

Each time he woke up, he became a different person.

But one thing remained the same across all his lives.

- That he needed to be strong.

The strong can solve problems that need to be solved, and don't solve those that don't need to be solved.

Fortunately, it would seem that the 'original' him was very strong.

No matter.

His original goal was to train disciples to pass the time with over his endless eternity.

The more he knew about the many emotions that can be experienced, the better he will be in finding the right one.

He had spent the past millennia in slumber, living through countless mortal lives at once.

Would he truly find what he wanted?

To be truly happy and have the companionship that can withstand the weathers of time?
