1 Chapter 1: Baby in the heart of forest

Blue Snow Village

It was evening time, the day before the equinox. It is a very small village with a handful of 90 families. Tonight is an auspicious night, as everyone was celebrating the arrival of spring. Numerous delicacies can be found on stalls, various types of ornaments from headgear to anklets can be seen, colorful fur clothes swaying in wind, almost every kind of stalls were set for the festival. The weather around the village is mostly chilly, and frequent snowstorms do occur on an informal basis. Nevertheless, tonight was a rough night. It was a heavily snowing and windy night.

There is a big frost mountain in the vicinity of Blue Snow Village. In fact, the village got its name from the mountain itself. The first rays of the sun make the ice on the mountain look sparkling blue, hence the name Blue Frost Mountain. There are many villages in the vicinity of the mountain, which includes Blue Snow Village.

Galloping sounds can be heard in the forest surrounding the mountain.

"Captain, we might just be able to make it in time before the celebration."

Another sound came from their side.

" I am missing my little wife already, can't wait even for a moment now."

This was a group of few soldiers going back for the celebration, with a Knight leading them.

He was the Captain of this group. He was a tall, towering figure with good biceps.

"Captain might also be missing his little wife, hahaha."

"Don't mess around, we are almost reaching the deepest parts of the forest, be careful of the Beasts." said the Captain.

"These beasts have been acting very weird this time, we already saw a horde of beasts just at the exterior of the forest." said one man from the group.

"It is indeed strange," said the captain.

Just at this moment, they heard the crying voice of a child.

"Captain, look behind." said the man shivering.

Everybody was stunned and when they turned around, they saw a Big Ferocious Wolf approaching them slowly and steadily.

"Don't make any unnecessary moves, otherwise we all will die," he said anxiously. However, he soon noticed that all his companions, blades of grass on the ground, in fact the entire surroundings seemed to stop. It was as if someone froze the time itself.

It was the beast king of the Blue Snow Mountain, the Snow Wolf King, a level 9 Beast. Just his presence was enough to suffocate them to death. None of them ever caught its glimpse before. Even the northern county leader whom they serve, was nothing more than an Ant in front of this beast. It was a legendary beast, rivaling the gods, and it was just standing right in front of them.

"Can I know why the lord beast king approached us."

"You are smart, for not making any move, as you all don't even amount to ants in front of me." said the Wolf king.

"Waainh, Waainh." came the crying sound of a baby.

When the captain looked towards the source of the sound, he came to realize that it came from the head of the beast king.

"Are you someone from the Grace family of Blue Snow Village?" the beast king inquired.

The knight was stunned. His name was Christopher Grace, the only knight from his village. He was pretty proud of that, but not right now. He was quite anxious that the beast king, an existence of his level, came specifically for someone of his family.

"Yes, milord," he said anxiously. In his mind, he already started thinking about his wife, his parents.

"Great." said the wolf king cheerily. But, the captain was feeling the exact opposite.

An object floated from the wolf king head and when the captain perceived it, was a baby in swaddling clothes. He was crying continuously.

" I want you to raise this kid, and take care of him.No matter which path he wishes to tread upon, let him take that path. His name is Julius Grace. Just treat him like your own son." said the beast king commandingly.

"Also, this conversation between us, everything about the baby, should be anonymous, nobody should know about this, otherwise I will ravage this entire kingdom to dust." added the wolf king.

Christopher was stunned. It was quite difficult to digest everything that happened just now. In a blink of time, everything just turned to normal. The wolf king seemed to disappear. All just looked like a floating dream.

"Captain, why are you holding a baby?" said one of his companions.

Christopher just realized that he was holding a baby in blue swaddling clothes. The baby now seemed to be asleep as it felt the warmth of his hands. He checked that it was a boy. Just by looking at the baby, one could imagine he would be pretty handsome in his youth. There was a mark in his eyebrows, it looked ancient. Just by looking at it, it gave him chills, but it seemed to just disappear, as if it wasn't there in the first place.

"I found this baby crying. Looked like someone left him all alone in the forest. I am planning to adopt it." said Christopher absentmindedly. He was still mulling over what just happened with him.

"Captain, let's continue our journey, otherwise we won't be able to reach in time for the celebration." said one of them.

They continued their journey.

"Captain, why does it feel like I saw a big wolf, a really big one."

"Even I feel I saw it, but it felt more like a dream." said another one.

"Forget it, that was an illusion due to stormy wind," said Christopher. But, deep down he knew, everything that happened was real, damn real.

They continued their journey, just that they got a new companion, the baby in the swaddling clothes.
