CHAPTER-17

After sending the Nanites away, Alex hailed a cab to his apartment in the city. It was a three-story apartment, which had been built by his father two decades ago when he used to work in this city. After a few years, his father got transferred to the "Old York city" and rented the first and second floor and left the third floor for themselves to use whenever they return to the city.

Alex got out of the cab infront of a three-story apartment building, he walked through the main gate of the building and took the staircase and went upto the third floor and unlocked the door of the floor. The entire floor is a single suite, which is big and spacious, while the other two floors have two separate houses on each floor. After entering the house, Alex nodded his head in satisfaction as he looked around the entire floor and found it clean and neat, as the cleaning lady must be doing a good job, weekly cleaning the entire place to keep it clean and dust-free.

Alex walked into his bedroom, which seemed to be kept as it was from his last visit. He opened the closet, took out a bathrobe and towel and went to take a shower. After coming out of the shower, he messaged his parents about his well being and his stay in the house. Then, he changed into a new set of clothes and plopped on the bed and stared at the ceiling, engrossed in thoughts.

He always felt like there was some problem with his memories, as he wasn't able to remember some memories from a specific period during his time in the military. He got to know from his parents and the military department he was enrolled in, it seemed he was in a secret mission and during that mission he was injured, which sent him into a coma for a few weeks after he woke up he couldn't remember anything that happened during that time or anything prior to months before that.

Even after getting treated by many doctors and psychiatrists, they couldn't help him and all came to the conclusion that his brain is actively trying to forget those memories. Even after many therapy sessions, nothing positive happened, and he wasn't able to recover his memories, so he left the matter to rest.

Since a young age, Alex wanted to serve in the military, with his smarts and excellent performance in his middle school, he was able to get into an Army high school and got recruited into a special department for elite commandos. After training for years from his high school, he went through many missions and later on seemed to be transferred to another department, of which he doesnt have any memories about. He was 20 years at that time and the only memories he had after that was of him waking up in the hospital, which happened months later.

"It seems I was working with NED during that one year. They must know me and it should the reason why they were so cordial and friendly with me." Alex mumbled as he remembered the little bits of memories he saw a few hours earlier. He was able to notice the badges from one of the body and came to that conclusion.

Alex was at first confused as to why the agent was so friendly with him, even if he was from a military background, there was no need to show such friendliness unless they know each other, now he knows the answer to it. But, they didn't act as if they knew him, just more friendly, it seems there are many secrets to unlock from his memories on what happened during that year.

It seems increasing the number of Nanites will help in increase of his cognitive facilities and mental strength. That was the reason why he was able to glimpse into his memories after the sizes of Nanites increased.

As he was lost in thoughts, he suddenly remembered about the lady hijacker, who was being followed by Nanites. He then switched to the view of Nanites and saw that she seemed to be in some kind of transport plane, except for her and the huge wooden sealed boxes there were no other people besides her.

"She seemed to be returning to the base," Alex thought to himself and decided to check what's inside the boxes and once he saw the contents inside he was shocked. The boxes contained firearms of different kinds, all of them are advanced heavy firearms used by most elites in the military. Now, he saw dozens of huge boxes containing firearms, this situation left him in a dilemma, as no typical organization wouldn't be able to procure such advanced firearms without a heavy background from the top of the government.

It seems the situation is more complicated than he thought. Alex then proceeded to let the Nanites devour one of the each variety of the firearms and various devices present in the boxes. Viper doesn't know that inside the boxes weapons were disappearing at an exponential rate. After half an hour Nanites were able to devour the weapons and it was slow due to the amount of Nanites on Viper had been very little, so it took such a long time for the Nanites to devour them and reproduce themselves. Alex who was laying waiting for the Nanites to devour them grinned as he saw them completely devouring the weapons, he then raised his hand and watched as the Nanites moved towards the palm and transformed into different kinds of firearms they just devoured.

Then, he let the Nanites check through every single box in the plane to see if they could find any more weapons. In a corner, Nanites found a long wooden box with a height of 1 feet and 6 feet long, inside the box was another metallic box.

'Oh! this box looks very different.' thought Alex as he let the Nanites enter the box and what he saw made him jump from bed in shock.

"Ahahahaha"!!

"It's my lucky day. A Gaussian rifle, I found a Gaussian rifle" Alex laughed aloud and shouted in happiness. He then immediately let the Nanites devour the rifle and excitedly watched as the entire weapon got devoured. The nanites had been increased to some 700 grams after devouring the tens of kilos of gun material, so they were able to devour the weapon very quickly without spending much time.

As the Nanites devoured the Gaussian rifle, Nanites transferred the working principles and the technologies behind the rifle into the brain of Alex. Alex sat on the bed and browsed through the technical content, after a few minutes, his brows scrunched up when he finally understood that it was an instrumental weapon that is still not yet perfect. According to the information he understood, the weapon was being developed in a direction to be used as handheld cannon. However, due to limitations of energy and materials, it wasn't perfected and was still experimental.

"Maybe I can perfect it with Nanites," Alex thought to himself and tried to make the Nanites transform into the Gaussian weapon when Animus sent him a message.
