Chapter 615: The Primordial Witch: Stars, Shall We Have a Child Together?
After the Stars Conference ended, Hastur was escorting the Mother Tree of Desire and the others out of the Hall of Stars when the Black Devourer approached.
The Black Devourer was not tall, standing only slightly higher than a chair, reaching about Hastur's waist. With a bright smile on its face, it said cheerfully, "I am the closest to you."
Hastur looked down at it for a moment, feeling that its expression was genuine. He couldn't help but gently pat its head a few times but remained silent.
The Black Devourer's smile grew even brighter, and it closed its eyes, resembling the way it did when it felt comfortable being petted by Azshara.
After a while, Hastur sent off the Mother Tree of Desire and the others, saying gently, "You should leave now."
"I will remember your scent and find you," it replied.
Hastur said nothing more and used the Chain of Stars to send the Black Devourer away. He had some guesses about its origins but was not certain. The Primordial Hunger surely knew some secrets but deliberately kept them hidden.
The words of the Super Star Ruler were crucial: "I thought you had already devoured it."
Perhaps in ancient times, the Black Devourer had another name.
But this brought a new question: Who was the nameless one that appeared outside the initial barrier years ago? Or who might have been impersonating them?
The Black Star, the black star, a figure sung in the hymns of the Church of the Yellow Robe. Was it the twin, or did the Black Star represent the King in Yellow himself?
Hastur pondered for a while but did not find the answer he sought. However, he was no longer as pessimistic about the future. The Black Star had appeared; could the King in Yellow be far behind?
---
December passed quickly, perhaps because the New Year was approaching. The battlefield in Feneport quieted down a bit, and the fervor for freedom and peace in the Kingdom of Ruen was not as intense as before.
In the Republic of Intis, the capital's upheaval led to the deaths of many upper-class nobles, and the collapse of the Church of the Eternal Sun caused central power to become unbalanced. This led to local forces arming themselves and governing independently, plunging the country into chaos.
Bernadette secretly returned to the Republic of Intis, seemingly to reminisce, and took some things with her. She had no interest in saving the Republic.
On the Roselle Islands, Bernadette allocated land for the residents from Silver City, helping them gradually adapt to life outside. Having been trapped in the dark God-forsaken land for so long, they loved the sea. Bernadette took the opportunity to recruit them into the official navy of the Star Sea Kingdom, making them an important force.
Hugh and Fors, who had fled from Backlund, were also recruited into the official system of the Star Sea Kingdom. Hugh currently served as a judge, handling cases of pirate disputes and vendettas. Fors, meanwhile, was tasked with compiling the chronicle of the Star Sea Kingdom, which, despite being less than a year old, had many significant events, keeping Fors very busy.
Fortunately, Bernadette was generous, and the ample gold pounds she provided helped soothe Fors's troubled heart.
In the palace of the Byran Empire on the southern continent, Sharon, who had been busy with the Temperance faction's affairs, finally returned at the end of the year. Audrey, using the excuse of preparing for the New Year, asked Hastur to spend time with Sharon.
Susie continued to study hard, with her teacher Hermes visiting twice, each time bringing books and feeding her a special potion mixed with the blood of a Mind Dragon. This potion was said to gradually change her bloodline, allowing her to evolve into a Mind Dragon.
Azshara, who had been idle, prepared three teachers for Sharon after she returned to assess her progress, each responsible for one of the three daily time slots.
With only a few days left until the New Year, Hastur set aside some matters to accompany Sharon on outings, including a trip to the Spirit World.
In the black castle, Renette Tinichole told Sharon that she planned to leave the Spirit World next year and would pass on the black castle to Sharon, saying it would be of great use when she advanced to Sequence 2 Ancient Evil.
After returning to the real world, Sharon was visibly upset. A day later, she told Hastur that she needed to prepare for her advancement to Sequence 3 Silent Disciple.
On the day before the New Year, Hastur was still lying in Sharon's bed when Butler Neil reported that a guest had arrived. Hastur kissed Sharon's forehead, got up, dressed, and went to the washroom to freshen up before going downstairs to meet the guest.
The visitor was a member of the Witch Sect, a Sequence 2 Disaster Witch. She had the beautiful face and graceful figure typical of witches, but her aura was not one of charm and softness. Instead, it was similar to Bernadette's, exuding the authority of a ruler, like a queen.
A noble and elegant queen, even without deliberately flaunting her charm, still filled people with a desire to conquer.
"Please forgive my abrupt visit."
"Have you chosen your stance?" Hastur sipped his tea lightly.
"The Primordial wishes to meet you in person. The time and place are entirely up to you."
"He should come himself to show sincerity in cooperation."
"You are right, but to avoid disturbing the peace here, the Primordial sent me first for communication. Please don't mind."
"Go back."
"Does that mean you agree?" The Disaster Witch's tone softened.
"The stars watch over everything, and he is no exception."
"Thank you for your understanding. I will report back to the Primordial."
The Disaster Witch left decisively. After she left, Hastur remarked, "Interesting. Disguising as a Disaster Witch just to say a few pointless words? Or does he really think I can't see through his disguise?"
"The Primordial Witch, Chic. Was he male or female when he first walked the witch's path? Probably male turned female, or the Witch Sect wouldn't be so twisted."
Hastur pondered for a while but did not leave, continuing to sit on the sofa in the first-floor hall, waiting.
About ten minutes later, the Disaster Witch returned, sneaking back unnoticed to appear before Hastur again. Hastur was not too surprised and poured a cup of tea for the famous Primordial Witch, Chic, saying leisurely, "Who are you trying to fool?"
"Everyone," the Primordial Witch replied, sitting across from Hastur and openly scrutinizing him. "Stars, your appearance is quite impressive."
"Thank you. Many people say so. Beauty is universal."
"Your human side is well-maintained."
"Humanity always surpasses divinity; this is the correct path."
"Can I take that as advice from the stars?"
"Your human side is also well-maintained."
The Primordial Witch smiled and changed the topic, "I didn't come to discuss cooperation but to see the true face of the stars."
"Now that you've seen it, what do you think?"
"I want to have a child with you."
What? Have a child together?
Hastur showed a clearly shocked expression. The Primordial Witch had come to him just to have a child?
Is having a child as casual as drinking water?
He was not Roselle, with no particular interest in witches.
"Reproduction is a biological instinct, especially when encountering a suitable choice," the Primordial Witch said seriously. "I need a suitable choice to complete this task, and you, Stars, are the most suitable."
Hastur pondered for a moment and asked, "Is there something wrong with your body?"
"Yes, I need to reproduce to resolve some physical issues," the Primordial Witch said frankly. "When I initiated the Pale Disaster, my body already had problems. After the failure, the issues worsened, leading to the Witch Sect's decline."
With a faint sneer, the Primordial Witch continued, "If the so-called Seven Gods hadn't united, none of them could compare to me."
Hastur was willing to believe this. To cooperate with the half-Old One Emperor Salin Grel and initiate the Pale Disaster, the Primordial Witch's strength was undoubtedly formidable.
But what did this have to do with wanting to have a child with him? It made no sense! And did he seem that casual? Just a few words and he would agree to have a child?
"Stars, your expression is interesting. It seems your humanity is too abundant, giving Adam the opportunity to act recklessly. Your humanity gave him the chance to test you and also caused him to miss a better opportunity."
"Your words are also interesting."
The Primordial Witch smiled, "Perhaps I didn't make myself clear, leading to your misunderstanding."
