1 New Life

Jacob ignited the fuse connected to a detonator by thrusting a lever downward. It seemed to cause the earth to quake, and him to stumble onto the floor. He was not expecting such a small demolition project to have such a terrifying outcome, but alas, accidents happened in the demolition business. In a moment, the building he was in would come tumbling down, and he'd be held responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands.

It was extremely unfortunate that he happened to plant his explosives over one of the tectonic plate borders. When the explosion went off, it caused two of the grinding plates to create an earthquake, which also happened to cause him to stumble. He had no idea why his luck had to be so bad, too, as he felt he did everything right. He checked all the lists and followed procedure perfectly. However, now he felt the cornerstone of the outlook tower he was in fall down, and crumble.

'Mother… Father… I'm sorry your son was such a useless bum! He really did try to find himself an honest profession where he could get rid of our family's unfortunate curse… Well, at least now our family line will end, and the curse will end…"

Jacob felt himself falling down as the building began to collapse. He was in a watch tower on the 15th floor, and this was going to be the death of him once he hit the ground. The rubble was going to fall on him and burry him in a pile of heavy stone.

In fact, he imagined the odds of him surviving were roughly .3%... With the curse from his family's ancestors, from all the way back in roman times, he was most likely not going to survive such odds.

Even now, he regretted that his parents even had him! Be that as it may, a part of him still held onto the hope that he might survive this fall. However, that part of him was like a four-year-old child, and completely didn't understand the vicissitudes of life.

Boom!

The rubble soon fell down onto his body as he predicted… He awoke a moment later.

….

"Your Excellence… Are you alright?" A lady with an extremely attractive smile appeared in Jacob's vision.

"Huh… Am I alive?" Jacob said as he looked at the woman.

There were kids running around him playing a game he didn't recognize. He also didn't understand why he appeared to recognize this lady...

"Yes, your excellence! Lebby sent you here to take care of your health… Remember… Have you forgotten how important you are to the kingdom? My Excellence?"

"What… what do you mean, Your Excellence?"

"Do you not remember… Jacklin? Have you forgotten your father, and the troubles of the Impervious Sect with him?"

When Jacklin heard his name, a bunch of thoughts triggered in his mind. In a second, it seemed like his life from childhood to adult hood flashed before his very eyes.

'Right… this is the Angola Continent in the High Lands of the Impervious Sects Kingdom… I am the son of the Magistrate who is in charge of finance for the High Lands… Therefore, I was given the role of a crowned prince in the Low Lands before I became sick…'

'However, did I really just die? What happened to Earth… I don't recall ever hearing of a planet called Xena before in our galaxy…. Have I transmigrated to a different time and place?'

'Xena… one of the major worlds in the three realms of this galaxy… If I'm not mistaken, this must mean I hold a fairly high position in this kingdom…. But, why can't I remember anything else?'

'Also, why don't I remember anything about this girl… who is she and why is she tending to me. All I remember is getting sick, and then everything going blank…"

However, then he realized he never answered the girl in front of him. "Right… I'm sorry, I'm sorry… I know that I needed to recover, and now I'm all better…"

"But, your Majesty… You've only been here for three days!"

"I'm alright now, darling…" He couldn't think of her name for the life of him. "I wish to return to the kingdom, and coral all the men to have a meeting! Once that meeting is adjourned… I should know if there was indeed treachery in my royal cabinet!"

The girl was flabbergasted by the immediate change in Jacklin. A moment ago, he could barely tie his shoes.

At this time, Jacklin was also surprised that she hadn't yet answered him. She just stared at him like there was something on his face. After making sure that there was no grime, or dirt on his face, he finally got to hear her sweet voice once again.

"Sire… as you command. We'll get you out of here after your next blessing…"

Jacklin watched a cleric walk past a crowd of children who were currently playing the game by the river. The cleric smiled at them before he seemed to notice the very awake Jacklin standing up and smiling. At this moment, Jacklin was reading his facial expressions for any sign of deception.

Because of the curse in his last life, every single thing had to be analyzed carefully, including people. The reason for this was never explained to him by his parents, but it was instilled into the very fiber of his being.

He looked at the man approach, and immediately felt worried when he saw the man clutch his neck. That was the sign that someone was uncomfortable. What followed next pretty much sealed the deal, though, as the man began chanting something that he could almost hear even from the distance.

"No…. I don't want to get my blessing here today… In fact, I think we should leave right now, darling."

The lady smiled hearing the crown prince call her darling once more.

"But sire… your chamberlain requested that the cleric see you every day at 3 PM in order to ensure your recovery."

When Jacklin heard this, he immediately had a startling realization. If he was in the chamberlain's position, and had knowledge of all the prince's various treasures, what would he do? He'd probably find a way to kill the Prince, and take the treasures for himself. After all, in his memories, the amount of trust he put in his aid was astounding!

Because of this, he was sure he had to leave.

In fact, he didn't even know who this lady was! Why wasn't her name in his memory… He could only run away before throwing out an excuse.

"I'm sorry, but I feel like my legs really need some exercise, darling… I'll see you in a few minutes…"

Jacklin darted off and then turned around to look at the lady. He had spent a lot of time learning to read people, and her shock seemed to be mixed with anger, and annoyance.

"No, get back here my king!" She drew out a sword, and then began running like a cheetah after a gazelle. "The cleric needs to give you your medicine!"

She nimbly skated her feet against the air as Jacklin kept running for the precipice.

'Heh… I just died, and the curse seems alive and well! Even in Reincarnation, the first person who sees me happens to want to kill me!'

He jumped off the hill and looked at the small river at the bottom.
