1 End of World

[ 12 June 2178 ]

My days as a student are now finally over. All the blood and sweat that flows from the body as if bought by a pile of money and gold, I'm so happy right now so I started to think, wouldn't it be better to take notes? And yes I did.

[June 17, 2178]

Mom, dad your unemployed son has finally found a job. Enough of wasting my money on university, now it's time for me to work to earn a lot of money. Fufuf—with all the connections I have and scientific papers praised by international forums, I can get a job wherever I want. White uniform and lab shirt, now I'm going to put it back on.

[ 28 June 2178 ]

The company fired me, damn they actually fired me and threw me out like trash. Wouldn't it be bad to dump a biology professor like me? I know the world isn't doing well, but—come on, it's only been a week since I started work and I just got a letter of dismissal, you must be kidding?

[July 30, 2178]

Ah so I see, this is all the work of the government, from the start I had no choice to work in a private company, they have blocked all my access so that I have to receive a letter of recruitment of employees in a state-owned company. Okay fine, I give up, now my goals have changed, forget about having a lot of money now I should probably focus on working for the country.

[January 20, 2180]

I saw the news this morning, and how shocked I was. Many alliance countries declare war with made-up reasons, I don't really know what's going on, from the start I wasn't really interested in politics so I don't know anything. But according to what I heard, it all started with a dense population which resulted in a resource crisis. Politicians seem to be playing their game and things just get worse.

[29 December 2182 ]

Nuclear war happened. They, countries that are starting to despair now decide to increase the number of victims with mass extermination, there is no humanity in this cursed world, everything is driven by reason and logic, human feelings are fuel that can be used. Stupid news started to spread, they kept shouting about humanity and such but I know it is a powerful weapon to deceive mankind, Yes that's how global media is in my view, it's purely a political game or at least that's what's happening now.

[ 9 April 2186 ]

Humans have regressed. Creatures that once ruled the surface are now rodents hiding underground, above ground there is only poison from chemical weapons. I'm grateful, I still have common sense until now.

[ October 4, 2189 ]

One by one my lab colleagues came out to check on the situation and then they came back only to be corpses. It's terrible, there are only 25 people around me left and I'm starting to worry that everything will disappear including myself. I'm starting to get mentally disturbed right now.

[12 December 2193]

I am now maybe 36 years old, this is the last record before I die. Everything looked dark when I was put in the burial capsule, you call it the burial capsule even though it's actually a medical capsule, it shows how desperate the people around me are. I feel sorry for my remaining 12 comrades, they are just waiting for death with their heads starting to go crazy.

...

In the dark and frozen room, my eyes opened again and my hands began to feel around. There was nothing but a stinging feeling in my hand due to the extreme cold, my head started to spin like it was hit by a huge rock that was so hard, it hurt and I couldn't stand it at all.

chk!!

My eyes flickered for a moment in the darkness and then my hands started pushing against the metal door right above me.

Hard and very clingy, the thrust of the hand without force is like pushing an iron rod into the ground. But I refused to give up, with all my strength the door above me began to push, the sound of ice shards scattering was very clear next to my ears.

Then, white smoke started coming out of the bed that looked like a coffin.

I woke up from my long sleep.

When I looked around, I could only see darkness then my pupils began to adjust and I could faintly see chunks of ice in every corner.

I then got out of the capsule where I was sleeping wearing only a clean white cloth, I put my hands on my head to hold back the pain and pus that I had. It was a painful feeling where every nerve in the head felt like it was being squeezed by a hot iron. Even though it was actually cold, but it felt very pungent.

Walking with my whole body limp, I kept on walking while trying to remember what I could remember.

"Looks like it's here. "

I then pressed the button near the wall but it couldn't really be pressed. If I remember correctly, there should have been some emergency buttons here to turn on the generator but my hands couldn't press the button which seemed to be frozen.

"Tch!! "

I clicked my tongue in annoyance.

I could faintly see the darkness but that definitely didn't help at all. So trying to blow the button with my mouth to make it melt is not a wasted effort.

The ice around the button melted as I started to run out of breath. My hands pressed the button then immediately leaned against the wall while fixing irregular breathing.

I fell and looked down. The skin on my hands was now stuck to the ice like peanut butter being lifted from bread, it was painful so I immediately put my hands on the fabric of my own shirt.

As I did so, the loud rumbling of the engine interrupted me.

"Ahh—Looks like it worked."

Gradually, the lights above began to flash one after another. The corridor that had been dark was now clearly visible, and the closed door began to make a strange sound, It was a sound where a metal object seemed to hit a block of ice slowly.

The sound of ice shards sounded quite loud in my ears.

The heaters are starting to heat up the room temperature, but it looks like it will take at least a few minutes or a few hours, I don't know for sure because my head isn't working well right now.

For now, rather than waiting for the ice to melt, it's better for me to understand what's going on with me.

I moved my hands while looking at the ice that was now water under my feet, there I could clearly see my face that looked like a child, maybe around seven or eight years old.

"Oh, I see. Looks like my lab mate mixed something in the medical capsule when I was about to die, Tch!! Wasting resources that you should be able to use yourself, that's stupid. "

Even though I said that, I'm a little grateful. I'm starting to understand why they're doing this to me, living alone in this place must be driving everyone crazy, so they're probably hoping that I'll bounce back.

I then walked limply to see the situation and look for my comrades who might somehow survive.

Room after room, hall after hall.

There wasn't anything in every room I walked through except for the chunks of ice covering the door. The heat flow from the vents didn't seem to have reached this place yet, so I just passed through the room I couldn't enter.

Then after a while I came to a large room where we usually have meetings.

Bright with neon lights and a circular sofa, right in the middle I can see a round table with a small clock.

It was good enough to see how long I'd been sleeping, so I started moving my hands.

As soon as I grabbed the small clock, my pupils suddenly dilated as the numbers there took me by surprise.

"What!!? December 2, 2678, how come? "

No wait, the clock has stopped. That means, it's possible that the time I passed was much longer than that.

How long did I sleep? I can't be sure.

But it must be more than 500 years old.

Under normal circumstances, I might be able to tell how much time had passed if this place hadn't been covered in ice in the first place.

Everything in this place was frozen and the metal walls were indeed designed to resist weathering or corrosion, making things difficult.

Everything has changed, the world has changed, 500 years is a long time. Because my body hasn't recovered, I can see the world starts to spin then My vision starts to blur and my head gets dizzy again, I can't maintain my balance then I fall.
